The Dynamics of Islamic Education for The Chinese Muslim Minority in West Sumatra
Islamic education for the Chinese Muslim minority in West Sumatra is a process fraught with challenges while offering significant opportunities in a multicultural society. This study aims to explore the supporting and inhibiting factors influencing the implementation of Islamic education in this community and to formulate strategies for optimizing its potential. Utilizing a qualitative approach, the research employed in-depth interviews, direct observation, and literature analysis. The participants consisted of 15 Chinese Muslims (8 males and 7 females), aged between 25 and 60 years, including community leaders, educators, parents, and youth actively involved in Islamic educational settings in Padang and Payakumbuh. The findings reveal that social support from the local community, the presence of inclusive educational institutions, the role of organizations like PITI, and family economic stability are key supporting elements. However, the community faces significant challenges, including social discrimination, lack of support from formal institutions, difficulties in cultural integration, and limited awareness of the importance of religious education. This study recommends a collaborative approach between the government, educational institutions, and society to create a more inclusive educational ecosystem. Such efforts are expected to strengthen the Islamic identity of Chinese Muslims and encourage their active participation in a pluralistic society
The Remediation of Integer Operations Misconceptions for Seventh-Grade Students Through Role-Playing Approach
Misconceptions in integer operations remain a common challenge among junior high school students, affecting their understanding of mathematical concepts and procedures. This study aimed to remediate these misconceptions through a role-playing approach that integrates physical and contextual learning experiences. The participants were five seventh-grade students from a junior high school in West Kalimantan, Indonesia, selected based on diagnostic test results and teacher recommendations. A descriptive qualitative design was employed, with data collected through tests, observations, interviews, and documentation. The remediation process was carried out in four systematic stages involving role simulation with physical number lines, group discussions, contextual problem-solving, and reflection. The findings revealed that students successfully overcame conceptual, procedural, and operational misconceptions, while representational misconceptions decreased considerably though still persisted in some students. Role-playing proved effective in fostering engagement and conceptual reconstruction, indicating its potential as an alternative strategy for misconception remediation. Further enhancement of visualization tools, such as number line media or digital supports, is recommended to optimize learning outcomes
Peran Agama terhadap Ide Bunuh Diri pada Mahasiswa Religius
Suicidal ideation is a psychological problem where it can be caused by various factors as well as various impacts that influence it including religion. This study aims to look at the role of religion on suicidal ideation in religious students and focuses on seeing the role of religion as a protective factor or as a factor that increases the risk of suicidal ideation. This research uses a qualitative approach with phenomenological methods so that the subject's experience can be explored more deeply. Data will be collected using interviews with religious students who have had or are having suicidal ideation where religiosity will be measured using the Muslim Religiosity Scale by Amir (2021) as well as using interview guidelines based on Pargament's theory (1998) and the interview process is only carried out on relevant informants. This study uses data analysis techniques in the form of thematic analysis. The results found that the role of religion can be a protective factor and can also be a risk factor for suicidal ideation
Adaptation of the Student Engagement Questionnaire (SEQ) into Indonesian Version for Secondary School Students
The goal of this research is to adapt the Student Engagement Questionnaire (SEQ) into the Indonesian version. The assessment that is adapted is the Student Engagement Questionnaire (SEQ) formulated by Reeve & Tseng, which consists of 22 items across four dimensions: agentic, behavior, emotion, and cognitive. The adaptation procedure follows the International Test Commission (ITC) Guidelines for Translating and Adapting Tests. The sequence consists of six stages: (1) Initial development; (2) Test construction; (3) Validation; (4) Administration; (5) Scoring and interpreting; (6) Documentation phase. However, this study only reached the scoring and interpreting stage. Therefore, future researchers should continue similar studies through to the documentation stage. In this research, 2 translators, 2 psychometrics experts for content validation, 10 Islamic Junior High School students for readability assessments, and 385 Islamic Junior High School students for construct validation of the instrument are involved. The content validity test resulted in a total mean of 1.34 for the similarity aspect and 1.3 for the comparability aspect, with a s-CVI value of 1.00. The construct validity test, conducted using CFA, yielded results with CFI 0.931, TLI 0.922, RMSEA 0.062, and SRMR 0.045. Furthermore, the Cronbach's Alpha value was obtained at 0.94. Therefore, this instrument has been demonstrated to be both valid and reliable for assessing student engagemen
Development of Interactive Learning Media Based on Augmented Reality for Solid Geometry Concepts
This study aims to develop an interactive learning medium based on Augmented Reality (AR) for teaching three-dimensional geometric shapes to junior high school students. The medium was designed to enhance students’ understanding of geometric concepts, particularly in terms of spatial visualization. The research employed a development approach using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The development process involved validation by content and media experts, as well as trials conducted with students to evaluate their responses and the medium’s effectiveness. The results indicated that the developed AR learning medium was highly valid, with a material validity score of 94.5% and a media design validity score of 91.3%. Student response questionnaires revealed that 93.7% of students felt the medium helped them better understand the concepts of three-dimensional figures, while 89.1% stated that the medium made learning mathematics more engaging and enjoyable. Additionally, the average pretest score was 61.7, which increased to 84.2 in the posttest. A paired t-test showed a significance value of p < 0.01, indicating that the improvement in learning outcomes was statistically significant. The AR learning medium was thus proven to be valid and effective in assisting students in visualizing complex geometric objects, as well as making the learning process more engaging and interactive. Consequently, this study recommends the use of AR as an effective alternative learning tool to enhance students' mathematical understanding at the junior high school level
