    Climate change has an impact on the health sector such as triggering diseases. Children are a vulnerable group to diseases caused by climate change. The foundation's education curriculum has not integrated the topic of climate change into learning activities. The attitude of maintaining health levels in the foundation is still limited. The purpose of the service is to improve knowledge and behavior in preventing diseases caused by climate change in the Bait Al-Qur'an Mulia Orphanage Foundation environment. Methods include health checks; education; Focus Group Discussions; and waste management practices. The results of the health checks of students showed an average blood pressure of 104/67 mmHg, weight of 40.97 kg, height of 147.16 cm, BMI of 18.73 kg/m2, and body temperature of 36.51°C. There was an increase in students' knowledge regarding climate change, diseases caused by climate change, and waste management skills. Suggestions are for students and foundation managers to implement sustainable waste management and be actively involved in efforts to prevent diseases caused by climate change

    Block compost is an innovation in the processing of organic waste originating from agricultural land and household waste. The significant potential of organic waste in rural areas presents an opportunity to transform waste into economically valuable products. This activity was carried out in Sidajaya Village, Subang Regency. The objective of this activity was to improve the knowledge and skills of the community in Sidajaya Village. The activity began with the dissemination of information on block compost making, followed by practical sessions on how to create block compost. After this training activity, the community’s knowledge increased by 15.91% compared to before. The community’s skills also improved during the practical session, as demonstrated by the successful production of block compost

    Diabetes Mellitus is one of the chronic diseases and every year the number of sufferers is increasing in various parts of the world. This disease is a metabolic disorder in which the body is impaired in using glucose, protein, and fat due to insulin deficiency or insulin resistance. There are 422,000,000 people worldwide suffering from diabetes mellitus, mostly in low- and middle-income countries and about 1,600,000 deaths are associated with diabetes mellitus every year. This service aims to increase the knowledge, insight, and independence of patients in implementing Diabetes Self Management Education with the family to increase the self-efficacy of patients with diabetes mellitus. The method of this community service is training by providing Diabetes Self Management Education material to be applied in the patient's daily life. Participants are patients with diabetes mellitus and the closest family as patient companions, which was carried out at the Langsa Kota Health Center on May 29 - June 12, 2024. The results of this service were obtained before the intervention the majority of participants had moderate knowledge (78%) and after the intervention the majority had good knowledge (89.1%), there was also an increase in self-efficacy from before the intervention the majority was moderate (64%) after the intervention, the level of self-efficacy of the participants increased with a high majority (78.3%). It is recommended that health facilities apply diabetes self-management education to diabetics because if diabetics understand this self-management, they can manage their health wisely and increase self-efficacy

    Chemical Compound Profile of Bajakah Kalalawit (Uncaria gambir Roxb) Stem Extract Using Liquid Chromatography High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry

    Uncaria gambir Roxb., commonly known as Bajakah Kalalawit, is a plant endemic to Kalimantan, Indonesia, with potential medicinal properties. While previous studies have investigated the phytochemical composition of U. gambir leaves, limited information exists regarding the constituents of its stem extract. This study aimed to comprehensively characterize the chemical composition of U. gambir stem extract using Liquid Chromatography-High Resolution Mass Spectrometry (LC-HRMS). Ethanol (96%) was employed as the solvent for maceration extraction (1 : 5, plant material : solvent ratio) for three days. Subsequently, the dried extract was subjected to LC-HRMS analysis. Compounds with an Area Under the Curve (AUC) value greater than or equal to 1% were considered as major constituents. The results revealed the presence of 18 distinct chemical compounds in the U. gambir stem extract, providing valuable insights into its phytochemical profile and laying the foundation for further investigations into its potential pharmacological activities

    This review examines the evolving role of the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) in empowering Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) within the pharmaceutical and food sectors. While significant strides have been made in recent years, challenges remain. These include discrepancies between regulatory objectives and the practical capabilities of SMEs, particularly in navigating complex regulatory frameworks. While digitalization initiatives and technical assistance programs have shown promise, their impact is often hindered by resource limitations and resistance to change among stakeholders. This review underscores the critical need for a balanced approach that effectively integrates regulatory oversight with targeted support for SME growth. Fostering an ecosystem that encourages innovation and ensures regulatory compliance necessitates a multi-stakeholder approach, demanding more sustainable and effective coordination among government agencies, industry associations, and academic institutions. The success of BPOM's empowerment efforts hinges on adopting flexible, technology-driven, and results-oriented strategies. Future endeavors should prioritize long-term evaluations of existing programs, develop robust metrics to assess their effectiveness and explore innovative approaches to address the evolving regulatory landscape in the digital era

    Could Nigella sativa Extract be a Promising Anticancer Agent?

    Nigella sativa, commonly known as black seed, has a long history of traditional use in folk medicine. Recent scientific investigations have highlighted its significant therapeutic potential, particularly in cancer treatment. Thymoquinone, the primary bioactive compound in N. sativa, has demonstrated promising anticancer properties in numerous preclinical studies. This review comprehensively examines the current understanding of N. sativa's anticancer potential, focusing on the pharmacological actions of thymoquinone. We analyzed high-quality research articles from various databases to assess the efficacy of N. sativa and its constituents in cancer treatment. Furthermore, we explored the potential of N. sativa as an adjunct therapy within existing cancer treatment guidelines. Finally, we discuss the safety profile of N. sativa and propose future research directions to fully realize its therapeutic potential in cancer management

    The requirement for instructors who have the theoretical and practical skills of a training center is an absolute necessity. Don Bosco Vocational Training Center in Tambolaka, Southwest Sumba is a place to conduct many trainings, one of which is a solar power plant. Don Bosco Vocational Training Center has adequate equipment but the instructors have not been skilled in both theory and practice. Solar power plant training in theory and practice is a desired solution to obtain experience directly. The service aims to train instructors of the Don Bosco Vocational Training Center and the local community who want to know understand and practice directly. This activity is carried out through several stages: theoretical studies, solar panels in series and parallel and irradiance measurements, batteries and how to determine their health, solar charge control, single-phase inverters, hybrid single-phase inverters, protection systems and types of cables and connectors used. Practices are conducted on-site after the theory is comprehended, and off-grid practices are performed with two types: a combined solar charge control inverter and a hybrid inverter and troubleshooting. From this activity the interest of the instructors is very enthusiastic, this can be seen from the first day the instructors have been able to assemble all the equipment properly and function, on the second day it is repeated to ensure the performance of the instructors is correct along with troubleshooting. This success has proven that the Don Bosco Vocational Training is the center of solar power plant training in Southwest Sumba

    This Community Service (PKM) activity was funded by the Directorate General of Research, Technology, and Community Service in the 2024 budget year with contract number 1069/LL9/PK.00.PPM.BATCH.2. This activity took place in Mandalle Village, Pangkep Regency with the title Integrated Farming LETSGO (Integrated Catfish, Vegetables and Maggots) with the partner Turicinnai II Fish Cultivation Group. The problem experienced by the partner was that the pond they had had not been producing for a long time due to the high cost of manufactured feed and the low selling value of catfish. Through the PKM activity carried out by the team from the Balik Diwa Maritime Technology and Business Institute and STIE YPUP Makassar, they succeeded in overcoming the PKM partner's problem by creating 6 (six) complete aquaponic ponds (vegetables and fish), 1 maggot cultivation installation and providing training on maggot cultivation, aquaponic vegetable sowing, and food product sales training. The results of this PKM activity are expected to be able to increase the productivity and profits of PKM partners and increase the benefits of this activity for the surrounding community. The pre-test results showed that the level of knowledge and skills about aquaponics and maggots were generally in the poor category. However, after the learning activities, the post-test results showed that the level of knowledge and skills increased significantly and were generally in the good category. In general, partners considered that aquaponics and maggot maintenance activities were technically easy to apply, economically inexpensive, and ecologically could reduce waste, especially organic waste

    Water quality management and effective marketing strategies are two important aspects of fish farming, especially in Magelang Regency which has great potential in the freshwater fisheries sector. However, many farmers still face obstacles in water quality management and product marketing limited to the local market. This community service activity aims to provide solutions through training in water quality mitigation and management, as well as web-based marketing and marketplace assistance for fish farmers in Magelang. The methods applied include technical education on water quality parameters such as dissolved oxygen, pH, nitrate, and ammonia, as well as assistance in utilizing digital platforms to expand market access. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in the understanding and ability of farmers to manage water quality, which has a positive impact on fish health and productivity. In addition, the implementation of digital marketing strategies has succeeded in expanding market reach and increasing farmer income. With this approach, it is hoped that this empowerment model can be adopted by farmers in other areas, supporting sustainable local economic growth

    This research is motivated by the low utilization of technology in mathematics learning. Although students are accustomed to using digital devices such as smartphones, the reality in the field still shows obstacles in optimally implementing technology. Therefore, innovative learning media are needed to utilize technology optimally and attract student learning interest, one of which is through e-learning platforms such as Desmos. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the application of Desmos learning media on students' mathematics learning outcomes in the quadratic function material of class X of SMA Negeri 5 Palangka Raya. This research was conducted in May 2025. The subjects of this study were 36 students of class X-2 of SMA Negeri 5 Palangka Raya in the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. This type of research uses applied research with qualitative and quantitative data analysis. Data collection techniques were carried out through observations of teacher and student activities, student response questionnaires, and written tests. The results of the study showed that the use of Desmos in learning quadratic functions positively impacted student learning outcomes. The average final test score reached 80.3%, with a classical completion rate of 80%, and student responses to Desmos were in the "good" category, with an average of 72.83%. Based on these results, Desmos has been proven to increase student active engagement and understanding of quadratic functions
