Rethinking the History of useful items for visually impaired persons in Japan Braille Library
Full text link本稿は社会福祉法人日本点字図書館における用具事業史に焦点をあてている。昭和39 年の世界盲人福祉会議出席のため渡米した本間一夫はその帰途ヨーロッパを回り欧米の盲人用具150 点を収集し、帰国後に開催した展示会を機に昭和41 年の盲人用具販売に至る史実が起点とされてきた。継続調査の結果、加藤善徳と花島弘から得られた新たな事実に照らして用具事業史を再考した。In 1964, HONMA attended the World Council of Welfare for the Blind in the United States and subsequently toured Europe, where he acquired approximately 150 items designed to assist visually impaired individuals. This initiativeled to the launch of product sales for the visually impaired in 1966. This paper revisits the history of these useful products for persons at the Japan Braille Library, focusing on the contributions of KATO and HANASHIMA.departmental bulletin pape

Full text link公私の両面にわたって、職場でも住居でも、あらゆる資料に対し資料保存を常に意識して行動することをすべての人々に推奨したい。仕事も日常生活も共通の原理で対処する。その対象資料を、いつまで、何年後まで保管／保存するつもりかを常に意識して文房具を使い分けたい。故意または過失により情報資源（本や雑誌や非図書資料）を汚損・破壊する人をひとりでも減らすことを切実に願う。We encourage everyone to remain mindful of preserving materials, whether at work, at home, or in both public and private settings. We can manage our business and daily life using some common principles. In our selection of the adequate stationeries, we always shall be conscious of how long and how many years we intend to keep or preserve the target materials. Full text linkThis paper reviews the situation on the Hawaiian Islands as it pertains to the acceptance and rejection of two denominations of Christianity, Protestantism and Catholicism. Arriving in the Hawaiian Islands in the 1820s and 1830s, the followers of these two denominations were treated differently by the established Hawaiian hierarchy. This paper gives a brief history of Catholicism in the Hawaiian Islands, the reasons for its rejection, and the consequences resulting from that rejection. Consequences, as they pertain to this paper, were the forced the acceptance of Catholicism and religious freedom in the Hawaiian Islands.本稿では、キリスト教の 2 つの宗派、プロテスタントとカトリックの受容と拒絶に関するハワイ諸島の状況を検討する。1820 年代と 1830 年代にハワイ諸島に到着したこれら 2 つの宗派の信者は、ハワイの既成のヒエラルキーとは異なる扱いを受けた。本稿では、ハワイ諸島におけるカトリックの簡単な歴史、その拒絶の理由、そしてその拒絶がもたらした結果について述べ、ハワイ諸島におけるカトリックの受容と宗教の自由を強制するものであったと結論付けた。departmental bulletin pape
The Impact of Reduced School Attendance Due to Covid-19 on University Students' Friendship Formation and Social Skills
Full text linkCovid-19 状況下の大学では多くのオンライン授業が実施された．その結果，2020 年度には週に1 日以下しか登校しない学生が半数近くになるなど，大学生の登校日数は大きく減少した．このような登校日数の減少が，大学生の友人形成と社会的スキルの成長に影響するかどうかを，2020 年度入学生に焦点を当てた調査によって検討した．2022 年の調査時点で 2020 年度入学生は，他年度入学生よりも友人との交遊経験が乏しく，友人数が少なく，社会的スキルが低かった．本研究は，大学生の登校日数が大きく減少することが，友人形成を妨げ，社会的スキルの発達も妨害することを示した．所属する教育機関における適切な人間関係の形成は，教育効果に関わる様々な要因にも影響する．教育のオンライン化について考えるとき，特定の授業の効果を検討するだけでは不十分であり，オンライン授業の割合や登校日数など，当該教育機関における学習者の経験全体を考慮することが必要である.During the Covid-19 pandemic, many university classes transitioned to online formats. Consequently, in the 2020 academic year, the number of days university students attended in person classes decreased significantly, with nearly half of the students attending less than once a week. This study investigated whether this reduction in in-person attendance affected the formation of friendships and development of social skills among university students, particularly those who began their studies in 2020. The findings indicate that students who entered university in 2020 had fewer opportunities to interact with peers, fewer friends, and lower social skills compared to students who entered in other years. This study demonstrates that the frequency of in-person attendance influences the formation of friendships and development of social skills. Additionally, the establishment of appropriate human relationships within educational institutions impacts several factors related to educational effectiveness. When considering the shift to online education, it is essential to evaluate not only the effectiveness of individual classes but also the overall experience of learners at educational institutions, including the ratio of online classes to in-person attendance.departmental bulletin pape
Co-creation Mechanism of Customer Value by Manufacturing Companies: A Case Analysis of EIZO’s Expansion of Product Areas and Services through Acquisitions
Full text linkモノづくりとサービスの提供は、必要な技術やノウハウが異なるためその両立は多くの製造業者が課題にしてきた。本研究は、この課題に対応する一つの手段として、買収に注目する。買収による主力製品に関わる技術やサービスの獲得は、規模の経済につながる。一方、買収によって新市場に参入できれば、既存のサービスの拡張と新たなサービスの展開に結びつく。これが、製品やサービスの拡張とコストダウンを通した価値創造の実現の鍵である。その際、医療分野の中でも治療に関わる商品群が対象であれば、経済的動機から医療従事者が価値の生産者となる可能性が高い。
本研究では、インタビュー調査から得られたデータと、有価証券報告書などの二次データに基づいて、買収実施後の企業が獲得した技術やサービスをどのように活用しているのかを明らかにする。その際、企業と顧客による価値共創の要件を捉える。顧客価値の共創メカニズムの解明は、製造業のサービス化を利益につなげるための一助となると期待できるManufacturing and service provision require different technologies and know-how, and balancing the two has been a challenge for many manufacturers. This study focuses on acquisitions as a means to address this challenge. Obtaining technologies and services related to core products through acquisitions lead to economies of scale. On the other hand, when acquisition enables a company to enter a new market, it can lead to the expansion of existing services and the development of new ones. This dual effect is the key to value creation through achieving product and service diversification while reducing costs. In cases where the product or service is related to medical treatment, there is a high likelihood that medical professionals will become value producers due to economic incentives.
Based on data from interview surveys and secondary sources such as financial reports, this study clarifies how acquired technologies and services are utilized by companies after acquisitions. In doing so, it identifies the requirements for value co-creation by firms and customers. A Study on the Plurality of Slowdown Culture and Media
Full text link本稿では、「スローメディア」と称される実践を分析する上で必要とされる理論的視座を先行研究から整理する。情報技術の加速が引き起こす情報過多がむしろ主体形成や民主的な意思決定を困難にするという指摘に対し、情報発信やコミュニケーションの周期を減速させようと試みる文化的実践が着目され、一定の支持を集めている。しかし、多くの場合、こうした「減速の文化」の問題意識は商業的な文化の中で個人の選択に依存する消費体験として扱われ、公共的な問題提起を伴うものにはなっていない。そこで、情報過多により生じる利潤やリスクの分配が不十分であるがために生じる個人のニーズを、加速に曝される人間の脆弱性を公共的に要請されるケアの問題として位置付け直した上で、生活時間とメディアの周期が調和する「利用者主権」の時間性の観点から分析する必要があることを示す。In this article, the author will discuss the theoretical perspectives needed to analyze “slow media” practices. Some scholars and practitioners suggested that the information overload caused by the acceleration of information technology makes subject formation and democratic decision-making difficult. Some cultural practices that attempt to slow down the cycle of information dissemination and communication have been focused on and have fascinated many people. However, in many cases, this “culture of slowdown” has been treated as a commercial culture that depends on personal choice, not public issues. Therefore, I will understand such a need has been constructed through the unfair distribution of benefits and risks caused by information overload and grasp human vulnerability caused by acceleration as an issue of publicly required care.
