Japan Braille Library’s Activities at the “Welfare Exhibition for the Physically Handicapped”: An Analysis of Business Reports Survey from 1957-1975
本稿は日本点字図書館が支援者に送付した『感謝録』の「事業報告」調査研究である。昭和39 年の世界盲人福祉会議出席のため渡米した本間一夫はその帰途ヨーロッパを回り欧米の盲人用具150 点を収集し、これを機に昭和41 年の盲人用具販売に至る。調査の結果、同館が「身体障害者福祉展」に「和製盲人用具」を出展した史実が浮かびあがってきたことは特筆すべきことである。The subject of this study is the “Appreciation List” sent by the Japan Braille Library to its supporters. HONMA reported on the actual status of activities, noting the “Annual Business Report” with gratitude. In 1964, HONMA visited the U.S. to attend the World Council of Welfare for the Blind and then toured Europe to obtain some 150 items useful for persons with visual impairments. This led to the start of sales of products for persons with visual impairments in 1966. Of special note is his efforts to promote the research, development, and dissemination of Japanese-made products at the Exhibition for the Welfare of the Physically Handicapped.departmental bulletin pape
大学教育における多文化共生マインド醸成の可能性を探って ―「やさしい日本語」の導入による一試み―
人口減少の進む日本において、外国人人材の受け入れは不可欠であり、その実現には多文化共生の実現が必須である。その担い手の主役となることが期待される大学生に対して、どのような教育的アプローチが可能だろうか。本稿では、筆者が「やさしい日本語」の導入によって行った2023 年度の講義およびゼミ形式の演習における教育実践例を報告し、その可能性を探究する。In the context of Japan, where population decline is progressing, the acceptance of foreign talent is imperative, and the realization of intercultural cohesion is essential for this purpose. To address the key players expected to contribute to this, namely university students, what educational approaches may be viable? Representations of Femtech in the Japanese Social Media Spaces
“Femtech,” coined by combining “female” and “technology,” encompasses products and services aimed at resolving issues related to women’s health and wellness through technology.This study focused on the femtech phenomenon’s rapid expansion in Japan, despite the gender gap. Specifically, we analyzed the representation of femtech in social media spaces (i.e., Twitter and Instagram) and identified characteristics such as limited representation of the “female image” as the target of technology, indicating the lack of an intersectional perspective; strong emphasis on beauty and fashion contexts; proximity to pseudo-science; concentrated attention on reproductive and menstrual management; and compatibility with surveillance capitalism.These findings suggest that femtech, which is expected to contribute to achieving gender equality through technology, may instead reinforce existing binary gender norms and may pose a risk of excluding diversity. Furthermore, in this paper, we delve deeper into the implicit assumptions associated with the term “femtech” in Japan and the imaginary perspectives it invokes, building on the results of media representation analyses. We examine the general understanding of gender,science, and women’s bodies in Japanese society, as well as the characteristics of their background and discourse. This research contributes to a better understanding of the intersection of gender,technology, and women’s health in Japan and its implications for diversity and equality.departmental bulletin pape

Analyzing Career Education Basic Courses ―from the Perspective of Life Planning, Reskilling, and Subject Integration―
日本における就業環境は変化しつつあり、リスキリングを伴うキャリア変更が今後増え続けることが想定されている。その状況下で、現状大学で行われているキャリア教育がその状況に追随しているのかを確認する必要がある。本稿では、現在日本の大学でどのようなキャリア教育が行われているのかの調査、分析を行い、その内容と傾向を明らかにした。The employment environment in Japan is changing, and it is anticipated that career changes involving reskilling will continue to increase in the future. In this context, it is necessary to confirm whether the current career education conducted in universities is keeping pace with this situation. Wikipedia editing and the development of media literacy: A report on practice in a librarian training class
ウィキペディアの編集が学生のメディアリテラシー育成につながることを、実践女子大学短期大学部の司書養成科目における試みから論じる。2022 年に、「図書館情報資源特論」の中で、学生がウィキペディアの人物記事を編集・執筆する演習を行った。これは、特殊なウェブメディアであるウィキペディアとの適切なつきあい方を身につけさせることを狙った試みであった。学生がもつウィキペディアのイメージは演習前後で変化し、この狙いはある程度達成したと考えられる。This study examines how the experience of editing Wikipedia leads to the development of media literacy in students, based on the practice in Jissen Women’s junior college librarian training class. In an “Advanced Library and Information Resources” class in 2022, we conducted an exercise in which students edited and wrote Wikipedia articles about specific people. This attempt aimed to help students learn how to effectively use Wikipedia, a unique web medium. The students’ image of Wikipedia changed before and after the exercise,suggesting that this aim was achieved.departmental bulletin pape
