Renga (early Japanese poetry form) by Reijyo Arakida and her son Yoshikane - Focusing on materials from the Toyo Miyazaki Bunko Monthly Renga Society
Full text link伊勢の文学者、荒木田麗女（一七三二～一八〇六）は、三十代後半から四十代にかけて歴史物語や平安王朝を舞台とする 擬古物語を複数執筆し、五十代で養子を引き取ったことを期に育児を中心とした生活に入り、執筆活動から遠ざかった。しかし、豊宮崎文庫と自宅で月次連歌会を主催して連衆に指導するなど、連歌活動は継続していた。そして養子の佳包に対しても幼少の頃より連歌に親しませ、長じて後は連歌会に参加させた。そのように麗女から薫陶を受けた佳包の連歌について、これまで詳しく紹介されたことはなかったため、今回新出の豊宮崎文庫月次連歌会での連歌資料を中心に佳包の連歌活動を概観する。野村氏義の次男として生まれた佳包は、天明二年に五歳で麗女夫婦の養子となり、慶徳佳包と称した。寛政四年に養父慶徳家雅の死によって十五歳で神宮師職に就いた。幼少期から連歌に親しんだ佳包は、寛政十二年十一月に初めて月次連歌会に参加して経験を積んで行った。個人句集やその他の文学作品を残すことがなかった佳包は、文人としては麗女の後継者となり得なかったが、麗女の随筆には親子で句作を楽しむ様や、病床の麗女を詩歌で慰める佳包の様子が記されている。Reijyo Arakida (1732－1806), a literary writer from Ise, wrote several historical tales and pseudo-ancient tales set in the Heian period, but when she took in an adopted child in her fifties, she began a life centred on raising her child and withdrew from writing. However, he continued his renga activities, such as organising monthly renga meetings at the Toyomiyazaki Bunko and at his home and teaching renga to his renshu. He also gave his adopted son Yoshikane familiarised himself with renga from an early age, and after he was old enough, he also allowed him to participate in renga meetings. However, the renga of Yoshikane, who was trained by Reijyo, has not been introduced until now. This article therefore presents an overview of Yoshikane’s renga, focusing on the newly discovered renga materials from the Toyomiya Saki Bunko monthly renga meetings.departmental bulletin pape
