Revisiting Flip as a speaking practice and assessment tool: An investigation of the mobile application using thematic analysis and evaluation criteria
Get PDFThe novel Corona virus pandemic brought with it innovation in the form of novel digital tools that saw wide adoption for the years of emergency remote teaching, or ERT. One such tool that received much attention among language teachers was Flipgrid, now renamed Flip. The reason for this is that it allowed for entire classrooms to be onboarded and rearranged into a digital class, where speaking activities could be completed in a collaborative on-demand environment. This study looks at the changes that have been made to Flip over the years using teacher and learner criteria. According to teacher criteria, it was found that improvements were made in three of the four criteria – authentic and appropriate content creation, learning management system, and management and assessment. Similarly, improvements were noticed in four of the five learner criteria – difficulty of use, public speaking discomfort, lack of feedback, and technical issues.Bulletin論文Articlesdepartmental bulletin pape
