Geological Sketch of the Hadean from oceanic island arc tectonics

The Hadean Era, which is characterized by a paucity of evidence, is thought to have been a period during which distinctive geological occurrences took place during the Earth was in the process of formation. This paper presents a discussion of the division of the Hadean Era and the exploration of its geology. A division of the Hadean era into six periods was made based on geological events, including the formation of the Earth, a giant impact, and the late heavy bombardment. This was done using data from the Moon and other planets (including objects in the asteroid belt), meteorites, and computer simulations. The last “oceanic island arc period” is inferred from the evidence of detrital zircon ages and the analogy of modern geological fields (the formation of numerous oceanic island arcs and their extinction by tectonic erosion). The reasons for the loss of Hadean rocks and the dispersal of the old detrital zircons have been elucidated.Bulletin論文Articlesdepartmental bulletin pape

A Comparison of Flip and Video Assessment Module: A mixed methods study of two speaking practice tools used in an online university language classroom

Flip and Video Assessment Module (VAM) were used as face-to-face speaking activity replacements in an on-demand EFL course in the 2024~25 school year. Mixed methods research found that students were generally satisfied with the speaking activities and rated them as better speaking practice than traditional face-to-face speaking activities. Participants noted that their anxiety to speak English decreased. Some stated that they enjoyed the ability to work at their own pace, and by creating videos they could develop a stronger habit of studying and thinking about English.Bulletin論文Articlesdepartmental bulletin pape

The Advocate of the Abductive Uniformitarianism and an Application for the Hadean

This paper presents an overview of the fundamental principles of induction, deduction and hypothetico-deductive method, and an analysis of their respective advantages and limitations. In geology, uniformitarianism is employed to elucidate past phenomena. Given that uniformitarianism is a form of hypothetico-deductive methodology, it is susceptible to logical defects. The incorporation of the concept of “abduction” proves an effective solution. Furthermore, geology encompasses recursive events, namely “time’s ring” and “time’s arrow”, and irreversible events, “time’s spiral”. This paper proposed the integration of a fused time’s spiral perspective to elucidate past events. The “time’s spiral” and the “abductive uniformitarianism” facilitated the interpretation of Hadean specific geological events in terms of “oceanic island arc tectonics”.Bulletin自然科学Natural Sciences論文departmental bulletin pape
