We discuss a new type of uniform random number generator based on the beta distribution. This method consists of a series of points that follow a beta distribution, and can generate random numbers by rearranging them. The Impact of English Proficiency and Major Type on Motivation: A University-level EFL Study
Get PDFStudents at university in Japan are often required to take one year of foreign language classes, regardless of their major. These compulsory classes consist of students with a range of motivation and English competency. This study included 5 different English classes of a variety of major types to find which variable had a larger impact on motivation to study English, major type, or English competency measured by in-house placement tests and quantitative data from end-of-semester surveys. It was found that major type had a larger impact on motivation than English competency, which suggests that learner traits such as ambiguity tolerance or other factors related to major type may have a larger influence on motivation than competency with the L2.Bulletin論文Articledepartmental bulletin pape
Note-Taking Support as a Reasonable Accommodation: Perspectives for Judging Adequacy and Effectiveness of Support
Get PDFポイントテイクは，自分でノートをとることが困難な学生に対して講義の要点を書き取る支援であり，合理的配慮の一つである．本学ではこれまで肢体不自由学生，視覚障害学生，聴覚障害学生に対して，必要と認められる場合にポイントテイクの支援を提供してきた．しかし，他大学では発達障害学生に対しても，必要と認められる場合には合理的配慮としてポイントテイクが提供されている．本稿では，他大学の事例を参照しつつ，合理的配慮としてのポイントテイクを提供する際の留意点について整理した．すなわち，（1）丁寧なアセスメントの必要性，（2）多様で柔軟な環境調整，（3）ポイントテイクを提供する際の運用ルールの徹底，（4）ニーズの意思表明にまだ至っていない学生の捕捉と対応である．
Note-taking support helps students who have difficulty taking notes on their own write down the main aspects of the lecture. Note-taking support is a reasonable accommodation. At our university, we have been providing note-taking support to students with physical disabilities, visual impairment, and hearing impairment. However, other universities offer note-taking support to students with developmental disabilities as a reasonable accommodation when necessary.
