Design of a Solidification Rate Measurement Experiment for Cast Steel in Molds Made of Different Sands Using Computer Simulation

This article presents the design process of the casting technology for a step-shaped casting made of steel using simulation tools. A series of proposals for gating and feeding systems were simulated in the MAGMASoft® software. Results of numerical simulations allowed the Authors to select the casting technology which allows defect-free casting to be obtained. A numerical analysis of the cooling rate of a step-shaped casting made of GX70CrMnSiNiMo2 tool steel with a 5% Ti addition was carried out for the selected manufacturing technology. Due to the nature of the material used and the extended presence of martensite during cooling, in-mold hardening of the casting may occur. The simulations showed that the type of molding material affects the cooling rate, which is confirmed by the analysis of cooling curves and the morphology of shrinkage porosity. The analysis of solidification rates provides a valuable starting point and basis for subsequent research stages, taking into account the actual properties of the molding sands and the phase transformations occurring in the selected steel type. The casting technology design, which ensures the production of sound casting, was developed as part of this study. A series of simulations using different molding materials confirms the significant impact that the choice of mold material has on the casting solidification and cooling process

Local Meanings of the Holocaust Memory In Zrenjanin (Serbia)

The choosen topic of my paper was local meanings of the memory of the Holocaust in Zrenjanin. The main questions of my research dealt with the research community’s general attitude, stereotypes, and prejudices towards Jews. I deemed it relevant to examine the current situation and the importance of the memory of the Holocaust. I assumed that the answers to these questions could bring out the existing deficiencies of current local and general strategies of remembrance and contribute to a critical reconsideration of these efforts. The aim of my research was also to contribute to the exploration and analysis of the local and personal empirical depths of memory. I wanted to record the constructed and reconstructed personal narratives of the generation of survivors and witnesses, and the narratives of the next generations. In this study, I have also strived to process and interpret recent meanings of the memory of the Holocaust.  The choosen topic of my paper was local meanings of the memory of the Holocaust in Zrenjanin. Broken Biographies of Russian Migrant Women in Poland After Russia\u27s Aggression Against Ukraine

    No full text
Ukazanie sytuacji kobiet, ich doświadczeń zmusza do refleksji na temat skutków wojny, przerwanego projektu biegu życia, nieprzewidywanego cierpienia czy chaosu normatywnegoRussia\u27s aggression against Ukraine in February 2022 had a profound impact not only on the direct victims of the conflict but also on the lives of Russians abroad. In Poland, where social and political relations with Russia were already tense, migrant women from Russia found themselves in a particularly difficult situation. Our qualitative research conducted as part of the GEN-MIGRA project ‘Gender, mobility and migration during and after the COVID-19 pandemic - marginalisation, resistance and strategies for the future’ shows that Russian women who arrived in Poland before the outbreak of the war have on the one hand experienced the negative effects of the war in their family, professional and social relationships, and on the other hand, they have been facing increasing discrimination and rejection, both from the majority of Polish society and institutions, primarily in the form of refusing to extend their residence permits. The presentation of the situation of women forces us to reflect on the effects of the war, the interrupted life course project, unforeseen suffering and normative chaos

The potential of artificial intelligence adoption for managerial decision making: A rapid literature review

    No full text
The article aims to investigate how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can support managers in making decisions. The methodology employed for this purpose involves a rapid literature review process. It is done in two stages that involve the graphic analysis of keywords, the systematic manner for rapid literature review and a directed search through online scientific article databases in pursuit of answers to the research questions. As a scientific basis for article selection, Scopus and Web of Science were chosen. The study indicates that AI supports decision-making processes by providing managers with more informed insights and predictions because of high data analysis capabilities. However, there is a lack of clear indication regarding the potential future applications of AI for decision-making purposes other than a supportive role. The study highlights the importance of AI in managerial decision-making processes. It particularly enhances analytical capabilities which led to the improvement of decision outcomes. It also stressed out the need for further research on future applications of AI in managerial decision-making contexts. The main concerns tackled challenges related to its adoption, such as reliability, accountability and ethical considerations. This article contributes to the literature by conducting a rapid literature review of the current state of research of AI applications for managerial decision-making. It highlights gaps in research on the future of AI for decision-making and emphasizes the need for additional research in this area

Vertical variations in the concentration of traffic-related pollutants PM in a selected area along a transport corridor

Profiling pollutant distributions contributes to a deeper understanding of the diffusion of traffic air pollution, with road transport being a significant source of air pollution. The available literature presents numerous methods for analyzing air pollution distributions resulting from vehicular transport. However, these studies primarily focus on simulated conditions rather than real-world field measurements. This study examines real-world field measurements of air pollution near a highway in Poland using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) platform across different seasons. The UAV platform was equipped with a semiconductor laser sensor for measuring air pollutants such as SO2, CO2, NxOy, O3 and PM10, PM 2.5 and PM1. Although there are many works on profiling pollutants, this is the first such attempt to visualize pollutants in Poland, along with comparing the indications to the National Air Pollution Monitoring. By applying Spearman’s correlation coefficient, the study assesses the correlation of pollutant concentrations within the vertical profile from a street canyon and conducts pollution mapping. Observations indicate that in spring, summer, and autumn, pollutant concentrations decrease with altitude. However, in winter, a “pollution cloud” was detected at an altitude of 20–30 m, while concentrations above this threshold declined. The findings provide valuable insights for developing recommendations to protect public health. In the future, they may be used to properly manage urban infrastructure in order to protect the population from the negative effects of air pollution

The Implementation Potential of the Hybrid Hot Metal Desulfurization Model –The Transformation of Research Results into Technological Recommendations

This study presents the development of a hybrid model for the desulfurization of hot metal using dual reagent injection of CaO and Mg, integrating thermodynamic equilibrium calculations with kinetic analysis based on Tank Theory. The objective is to provide practical technological recommendations that enable effective industrial application of the process. The model allows real-time simulation of sulfur concentration changes under varying parameters such as reagent dosage and mixing intensity, while an optimization module supports the selection of operating conditions by balancing desulfurization efficiency with material consumption and operational costs. The system adapts to changing technological conditions including feedstock composition and process temperature, ensuring flexibility in industrial practice. In addition to process control, the model incorporates economic evaluation by correlating reagent consumption with achieved technological outcomes, which enhances its practical value. The proposed solution represents a step toward intelligent desulfurization systems that combine the precision of physicochemical modeling with the adaptability of modern process control. Implementation of the hybrid model may lead to higher efficiency, reduced consumption of consumables, and stable achievement of target sulfur levels, thereby strengthening the economic competitiveness of iron production
