Strategies toward the gold medal: Unveiling the anticipatory processes of junior high school olympiad students in geometry problem-solving
The National Science Olympiad (NSO) presents significant challenges for most junior high school students. This qualitative study examines the cognitive processes of gold medal-winning students by analyzing their anticipation strategies in solving geometry problems. Employing a descriptive-exploratory approach, we conducted problem-solving tests (using modified NSO geometry questions) and semi-structured interviews with a gold medalist from SMPN 2 Jember. Our findings reveal three distinct anticipation patterns: (1) positive internalized anticipation - intuitive conceptual application yielding correct solutions (e.g., establishing geometric relationships without procedural calculations in Problem 1), (2) negative internalized anticipation - rapid but erroneous assumptions (evident in angle miscalculations in Problem 2), and (3) analytical anticipation - systematic verification through logical reasoning (demonstrated in ∠POR ratio reevaluation). These results provide empirical evidence of how anticipation strategies influence olympiad performance. The study suggests practical interventions including: (1) diagnostic tools for anticipation profiling, (2) teacher training programs to cultivate positive anticipation patterns, and (3) curricular integration of analytical anticipation as metacognitive strategy. For olympiad preparation, we recommend scaffolded problem-solving tasks with structured reflection to transform negative anticipation patterns. Future research should investigate the domain-specificity of these anticipation processes across mathematical disciplines
Bugis ethnomathematics: Exploration of the sulapa eppa walasuji motif as a source of learning mathematics
Mathematics has historically been integrated into everyday life, and Indonesia's cultural heritage, such as the walasuji of the Bugis community, provides a valuable context for learning. This study explores activities involving mathematical concepts found in the making of walasuji. A descriptive qualitative method with an ethnographic approach was used. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and interviews. The findings reveal that making walasuji involves mathematical concepts such as translation, reflection, rotation, and straight-line equations, offering potential as contextual learning resources in schools. Additionally, the sulapa eppa walasuji motif embodies character values manifested in humans, namely intellectuality (acca), courage (warani), honesty (lempu), and wealth (sugi), referred to as sulapa eppa na taue (the philosophy of a quadrilateral human). Integrating cultural artifacts like walasuji into mathematics learning can enhance students' engagement, cultural awareness, and critical thinking skills. This research implies that future mathematics education should incorporate elements of local wisdom to create meaningful, relevant, and culturally responsive learning experiences, aligning mathematics more closely with students' everyday realities and cultural identities
Strategi Pengenalan Candi Muaro Jambi melalui Ornamen Arca Candi pada Kain Tradisional
Muaro Jambi Temples is the largest cultural heritage site in Southeast Asia, holding immense historical and cultural potential. However, the low number of visitors and limited engagement from the younger generation indicate the need for innovative approaches to promote the site. This research aims to develop a strategy for applying the ornamental sculptures of Muaro Jambi Temples to traditional textiles as a medium to introduce and promote Jambi’s cultural heritage. The ornaments selected include sculptures of Prajnaparamita, Dwarapala, Makara, and motifs from the main temples such as Candi Tinggi, Candi Gumpung, and Candi Gedong. The research method employed is research and development (R&D) using a design thinking approach, which involves the stages of empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test to create motifs that preserve cultural authenticity while being suitable for textile application. The process includes interviews with artisans, observation of traditional textile production, analysis of key challenges, brainstorming of simplified ornamental designs, prototype development, and phase evaluation with artisan and the local community. The resulting fabric prototype featuring ornamental motifs was tested during a cultural event at Muaro Jambi Temple and received positive feedback from visitors as an effective medium for introducing the history and cultural heritage of Jambi. This study demonstrates that the application of sculptural ornaments to traditional textiles not only enhances the aesthetic value of the product but also reinforces cultural identity and increases public interest in Jambi heritage. Government support and stronger collaboration with local artisan communities are crucial to ensure that these ornament inspired textiles become a widely recognized and sustainable cultural symbol

Logistic Regression and Naïve Bayes Comparison in Classifying Emotions on Indonesian X Social Media
Emotions are integral to human interaction and decision-making, often expressed on social media platforms like X, which provides valuable data for sentiment analysis. However, analyzing texts from X poses challenges due to informal language, slang, and unique textual features. This study compares Logistic Regression and Naive Bayes in classifying emotions from Indonesian tweets, addressing gaps in prior research by exploring feature extraction methods, data split ratios, and hyperparameter tuning. Data were collected from 100 Telkom University students, resulting in 8,978 tweets labeled into four emotions: Happy, Sad, Angry, and Fear. After preprocessing, feature extraction methods TF-IDF and Bag of Words (BoW) were applied. Models were trained and tested on 10%, 20%, and 30% data splits, and performance was evaluated using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. Hyperparameter tuning was conducted for Logistic Regression using GridSearch. Results showed Logistic Regression outperformed Naive Bayes, achieving 73.49% accuracy compared to 70.27%, with BoW yielding superior results over TF-IDF. The 20% data split provided the best balance for training and testing. This research demonstrates the effectiveness of Logistic Regression and highlights the importance of tailored feature extraction and parameter optimization for emotion classification in informal text datasets, particularly for Indonesian tweets

Pemetaan Lintasan Karir Alumni Berdasarkan Analisis Cluster: Kombinasi K-Means dan Reduksi Dimensi Autoencoder
Alumni career mapping is a crucial aspect of evaluating and developing higher education programs. Cluster analysis, particularly the integration of k-means and autoencoder methods, has emerged as an effective solution for grouping complex and multi-dimensional alumni career data. This study aims to implement and assess the combination of k-means and autoencoder algorithms in alumni career mapping based on GPA, study duration, waiting time, job type, salary, job level, and field of study suitability. The autoencoder is employed to reduce dimensions, while k-means clusters alumni into groups based on the similarity of their career profiles. The data used in the cluster analysis is sourced from the tracer study. Pre-processing of the tracer study data is conducted through several stages, including cleaning, encoding, and normalization. The evaluation results indicate that the combination of k-means and autoencoder yields superior Silhouette and DBI scores. The Silhouette score with the autoencoder achieved 0.6112, while without it, the score was only 0.3956. The DBI value with the autoencoder is 0.566, whereas without it, the DBI reached 1.022. This cluster analysis effectively grouped the tracer study data into six clusters based on similarities in career profiles. The clustering results suggest that the formed clusters are more influenced by the alumni's job type and duration of study
