departmental bulletin pape
The purpose of this study was to clarify the effects of team building activities using outdoor activities on college women basketball players and to provide basic data on methods of team building activities. The subjects were 21 university students belonging to the women's basketball team at University A. ASE activities and mountain climbing activities were conducted as team building activities. To measure the impact on the team, the Cooperative Work Consciousness Scale and the Sports Self-Management Skills Scale were used. The results showed that there was no significant change in the cooperative work awareness scores, but a significant difference in the sports self-management skills scores was confirmed with timing as a factor.[ Subsequent tests confirmed significant differences in six intervals: immediately before and after ASE activity and mountain climbing activity, immediately before and one month after ASE activity and mountain climbing activity, one month after ASE activity and one month after mountain climbing activity, immediately before and after ASE activity and mountain climbing activity, immediately before and after mountain climbing activity, and immediately before and one month after mountain climbing activity. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the two groups in the 6 intervals. These results indicate that, among the activities conducted in this study, the mountain climbing activity has an impact on the sports self-management skills of college female basketball players, which is one element of team management. In addition, it was suggested that it would be effective to conduct the program over several sessions with an adventure education component, since it is not possible to expect team-building effects when only ASE activities are conducted.departmental bulletin pape
departmental bulletin pape
We conducted a survey by mail in a total of 550 nursing facilities for the elderly covered by nursing care insurance in M prefecture to identify the status of introduction of nursing care robots and views of the introduction. As a result of analysis of responses from 126 facilities that answered to the survey (22.9%), nursing care robots were introduced and have been used at present in 41 facilities (32.5%). The most commonly used robot was monitoring robot that has been used in 27 facilities (65.9%). As views of the introduction of nursing care robots, following
opinions were raised: Physical burdens on facility staff reduce with the introduction of the nursing care robots; costs of purchasing the robots are expensive; maintenance and upkeep of the robots involve costs; and there is a difficulty in receiving subsidies from local governments. In addition, there were situations that not all staff can necessarily operate nursing care robots easily, that knowledge is required, and that humans are better than the robots to provide nursing care, which indicated that a lack of knowledge is also a factor that hinders introduction and continuous use of nursing care robots in addition to cost-related factors. Based on these results, it was suggested that nursing care and welfare professionals need to have opportunities to master the features of
the robots as well as how to operate the robots and learn successful cases of the introduction in their own facility or other facilities.departmental bulletin pape
The impact of introduction of nursing care robots on tasks of caregivers working at a nursing home was investigated by surveying 54 employees of a special care home for the elderly. The items surveyed included the level of fatigue overtime and before/after the work, the number of steps taken, the level of satisfaction with the equipment, and the type of time-consuming tasks they performed. The results of analyses on 52 employees indicated that for some workers the number of working hours increased, and the level of satisfaction was low after the introduction of the robots, although there was no change reported in terms of the level of fatigue and the number of steps taken. Meanwhile, some others considered that the introduction of robots would improve their QOL and task efficiency. These findings suggest that it is essential to provide supports not only at the time of introduction but also after the introduction of these robots by continuously offering training sessions, etc.departmental bulletin pape
Effects of cheerleading activities on the physical and mental well-being of older adults in Sendai city
Aging presents challenges to physical and mental well-being and requires innovative approaches to the older population. Physical activity is essential for healthy aging, yet physical inactivity is widespread among people over 60. Along with traditional physical practices (e.g., morning exercise, running, gym) that promote healthy aging, alternative modern sports such as cheerleading are becoming more popular among the older population. In this paper, we describe the results of a cheerleading course for older adults from Sendai city (Japan), by describing the process of cheerleading, the structure of the group of participants, and the results of a survey about physical and mental well-being of participants after six months of the cheerleading course. 42% of course participants did not previously know about the existence of cheerleading. The survey results showed that participants felt an improvement in their physical health. Among the reasons to engage in cheerleading, participants equally valued the opportunity to socialize and communicate with other participants along with improving their physical health. Based on the results of the conducted research, we propose a number of strategic steps to develop the cheerleading among the older population. Recommendations include additional research for a deeper understanding of the impact of cheerleading on the physical and psychological wellbeing of older adults, promoting inclusive practices in cheerleading to involve older adults with varying levels of physical fitness and abilities, collaboration with medical institutions, promotional campaigns, and development of a universal cheerleading course. Our findings support cheerleading as a holistic activity for older adults, combining physical and social elements for improved wellbeing.departmental bulletin pape
