Peaceful Coexistence Through the Concepts of Brahmavihārās of Buddhism and Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿa of Islam: A Content Analysis
To understand every religion, it is vital to study the main sources, the specific religious scriptures of a particular religion. In order to draw a conclusion about the core message of religion, it is not scientific to observe only the practices of the adherents of a certain religion. Although Buddhism and Islam have been considered as religions of peace, the meeting of Buddhists and Muslims is most often imagined as one of violent confrontation in the modern world. There should be an understanding between Buddhism and Islam to ensure peaceful coexistence among the adherents. Based on the arguments, this study aims to analyze peaceful coexistence through two different concepts, Brahmavihārās from Buddhism and Maqāṣidh al-Sharīʿa from Islam. Primarily it seeks to analyze these two concepts within their respective religions for a better comparison. It uses a library-based qualitative method. For this purpose, the research adopts the content analysis method, which focuses on the materials from journals, books, written reports, and other materials. The study highlights that even though Buddhism and Islam have different doctrinal foundations, the basic teachings promote peaceful coexistence from different points of view. This research concludes that both religions share similar concepts of peaceful coexistence which denote and declare human dignity as a right that should be paid attention. Both religions prioritize love and justice as the main standard in discussing peaceful coexistence. Hopefully, this conceptual study will be able to show that these two ideas are very significant and valuable when dealing with religious conflicts, to make a better inter-religious understanding among Buddhists and Muslims and to succeed in a process of reconciliation and for peaceful coexistence among diverse religious people
Ritual Domestikasi Padi Lokal dalam Budaya Sasak-Lombok
The rice plant for Indonesia, especially in Lombok, is considered unique, not only as a production crop but also as a sacred plant. From the process of planting to harvesting, this plant is treated specially with rituals with religious nuances. This study aims to describe the socio-cultural symptoms of local rice domestication rituals among traditional farmers in Lombok. Based on this description, it is hoped that the views, knowledge, values, and rules will become the reference for the behavior of the rural Sasak people as growers of local rice types. The approach used to achieve this goal is a phenomenological approach. Primary data of this study were obtained through in-depth interviews (structured and non-structured to informants) and participatory observation. The results showed that the local rice domestication ritual is a form of awareness of the cultural-religious views of the local community by combining local knowledge and religious knowledge (Sufistic teachings, as represented in the mantra of planting rice and the concept of pare anak iwoq or orphan rice in pare pemol or rice starter/marker) as a manifestation of the awareness of the Supreme Being and the cosmos. This awareness of the Supreme Being and the universe becomes a reference for local farmers in their behavior, especially in agriculture. With these two types of consciousness, they are guided and directed toward safety, security, and balance

The research method uses qualitative methode through case study type with the locus at KUA Kiaracondong representing program implementation in urban areas, and at KUA Cipeundeuy representing program implementation in rural areas. This study uses the theory of AGIL Structural Functionalism (Adaptation, Goal-attainment, Integration, Latency). This research results several findings: first, although the increasing role of KUA in facilitating the people to actualize sakinah family can be realized through the implementation of the Pusaka Sakinah program, efforts to maintain program sustainability are not an easy way due to KUA's high dependency on the institution in financing the program. Second, initiative and innovation are relatively limited because the concept of the Pusaka Sakinah program has not been understood and there has even been a misinterpretation on transforming KUA, causing disorientation, reduction, and even rejection of programs that are seen as burdensome to KUA. Third, the synergy of implementation program with similar programs carried out by other ministries and local governments is still low. In this regard, the Ministry of Religion needs to make efforts to increase the intended synergy which will also have a positive impact on the availability of resources in program implementation
