    THE RATIONAL ACTION OF ELITE: MITIGATION THE COVID-19 AND COMMUNITY RESISTANCE IN PESANTREN SALAFIYAH SYAFI’IYAH SITUBONDO

    The role of religious elite has legitimation as the highest symbolic representation of religious authorities in society especially on Islamic boarding school area. In this digital era where the public space widely open, there is a tendency related to the transformation of religion thinking paradigm, culture and tradition which is becoming interesting discussion. As result, there is a trend of dualism that is accommodative and resistance society. In different interpretation context, religion is no longer elitist, absolute, and contestation. This paper aims at analysing the society resistance and the role of religion elite to anticipate the spread of Covid-19 in Islamic boarding school. Based on the result of interview, observation, and data analysis of descriptive qualitative research, it revealed: First, there is community anachronism paradigm to religion and culture, emergence of society resistance to rules which have been determined by the government. Second, the role of religion elite and religion fatwa has been succeeded to apply in Islamic boarding school area and people who have patron and client relationship. The spreading of information is very effective through social media. Third, the government policy related to the restriction of community activities and socialization of religion elite fatwa are not quite effective to decrease the society resistance. This paper suggested it is necessary to have synergy between religion elite and government, so that it can increase the community rationality to the religion and culture understanding and it is not stuck on orthodox thinking in this Covid -19 pandemic

    This research measures the index of religious moderation in the city of Semarang and analyzes the dimensions of religious moderation that include 4 indicators of religious moderation, namely 1) national commitment, 2) tolerance, 3) anti-violence and 4) accommodative to local culture. Semarang is a city that has a plurality of religions as well as ethnic groups. This can actually be the main capital in regional development. The research method used in this study was an approach with quantitative descriptive statistics. The population of this study was Semarang people, with the number of 1,681,058 in 16 districts. The sampling technique was carried out by stratified random sampling where the representatives from each of the districts were taken. 611 people were selected as the research sample. The research focus was on the four indicators of religious moderation. Retrieval of data used a questionnaire. Data was processed descriptively. After conducting a field survey by FKUB Semarang City in 2021, the results obtained were that the religious moderation harmony index was 77.5 (very high). Furthermore, the index of the four indicators are national commitment, tolerance, anti-violence, adaptive to local culture respectively 70.23; 82.90; 77.93; 83,43. All the indexes have very good criteria, but the national commitment index is still high

    The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted to various fields of human life, including social and economic. The government has made various efforts to stimulate the community's economy, initiating various groups and individuals with various values of wisdom to revive their economy. This study aims to determine local wisdom and religious values that have an impact on community efforts in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic; the process of using religious wisdom in the local realm in handling a pandemic; The impact of local wisdom and religion on the development of social capital in various aspects of people's lives. Based on qualitative data collected through interviews and observation in four provinces; West Java, Centra Java, DI Yogyakarta, and Bali this study found that the local wisdom behind various sharing activism during the pandemic comes from traditional values that have long been practiced by residents in various research areas. Their shared activism is a form of their ability to adapt various noble and traditional values in today's highly chaotic situation. Various sharing activism during the pandemic has established relationships among fellow citizens

    Mandi Safar (Safar bathing) ritual is a tradition of rejecting reinforcements and a means of gathering for the coastal by Local Malay community in Rupat Island of Riau Province. This is an annual event. The purpose of this research is to show the local Islamic community's bathing Safar rite, which has attracted the attention of many Islamic theology. However, the event creates both benefits and drawbacks among those who support and oppose it.  As a result, the goal of this research is to give an overview and analyzing of the influence of Islamic theology toward Mandi Safar ritual. This is a qualitative ethnographic study that highlights the role of researchers as the key instrument in the research process. This research's informants are local communities and their leaders, as well as culture experts, with a total of ten informants residing on Rupat Island. They comprehend the importance of these rites and skills in their everyday lives, as well as the responsibility of local governments in preserving this tradition. Malay culture and the local population of Rupat Island thinks that the month of Safar brings a bala' and ailment, thus they perform the Safar bath ritual, which includes reading chosen letters from the Qur'an, ablution, prayer congratulations, and prayer rejections. Safar bath has its purpose in the month of Safar to get safety and prevent ill luck.     Manajemen Integrasi Kurikulum pada MA Al-Mumtaz Gunungkidul Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta

    The low quality of human resources and inadequate facilities in madrasas are new problems for educational institutions based on an integrated curriculum. If these conditions continue to be allowed, then the goals of Islamic education will experience obstacles. This qualitative research was conducted to analyze the integrated curriculum management, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of its implementation at MA Al-Mumtaz Gunungkidul Special Region of Yogyakarta. Based on reliable sources of document data and sources, through observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews, inductive analysis was carried out to find meaningful final findings of research results. The results show that at MA Al-Mumtaz, 3 integrated curricula have been implemented, namely, the National curriculum, the Islamic Boarding School curriculum, and the Entrepreneurship curriculum. Management principles are also implemented, starting from curriculum planning by the Pondok Pesantren component at the beginning of each new school year. The implementation of the curriculum is assigned to the coordinators of the education sub-section with its members to students. The implementation of the curriculum is based on the autonomy of the foundation, an integrated curriculum system, a curriculum modification system, and the primacy of affective assessment. Supervision is carried out at the beginning, middle, and end of the school year. Its strengths are the one-way command system, the creation of independent human resources, and the consistency of regulations at MA Al-Mumtaz. Meanwhile, its weaknesses are found in organizing educators and education personnel, as well as community acceptance

    State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya (UINSA) implements integrated twin-towers learning model that combines Islamic scholarship with science, technology, social, and humanities. Through this learning model, the students of UINSA get courses on strengthening Islamic values regardless of their study program. Students are required to be independent in learning, including getting religious learning resources that can be accessed via the internet. However, religious information circulating on the internet is not always true and valid, so it affects on student behavior in accessing religious literacy in the digital world. This article aims to describe the level of religious digital literacy behavior on the students of UINSA and is observed based on demographic elements (gender, faculty and education background). The research method was carried out with quantitative approach where data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires referring to the UNESCO Media and Information Literacy Assessment Framework via online. The results of this research indicate that the level of student religious digital literacy behavior is on a advance level. However, in demographic element, it shows various digital literacy levels, there are those who get advanced and intermediate levels. The results of this study are expected to be a reference for university to develop digital religious literacy competencies among their students in the future

    Da’wa in Islam: A Discursive Analysis of South Asian Muslim Scholarly Discourses

    Da‘wa is one of the notable/substantial topic in Islam. Numerous works have been written on the subject, its modus operandi, philosophies, pedagogy, prominence, tactics, and other interconnected aspects in distinctive languages especially Arabic, Urdu and English. In South Asia, the enormous da‘wa literature produced by the scholars is in Urdu. A significant portion of literature, however, has been produced, both originally as well as through translations, in English to fulfill the needs of da‘uāt in South-Asia as well as global level. In this context, the study attempts to present an appraisal of three English works (produced in 1990s to 2000s) authored by the South Asian scholars. These books are: Syed Abul Hasan Nadwi, da‘wa in the West: The Qur’anic Paradigm (1992 [1991]); Abdus Salam, da‘wa Guide (1996); and Amin Ahsan Islahi, Da’wat-ī dīn Aur Uska Tāriqa-Ka’ar/Islamic Faith and the Mode of its Preaching (2005[1951]). The main themes, collectively, highlighted in these works, reveal both theoretical, and practical aspects; pedagogy and methodology of da‘wa in Quranic paradigm; practical aspect from Prophet’s life; modes and stages in dawat-ī dīn; qualities; language; principles and the style of articulation; wisdom and broadness of da‘i; da‘wa and its harmony with time and space (Modern age). The study, with a tri-fold aim, seeks to: (i) explore their approaches and methodology in their discussions on da‘wa (ii) evaluate critically their stance on modern-day challenges of da‘wa and (iii) highlight the relevance of their interpretation in providing solutions to the contemporary challenges vis-à-vis da‘wa . The major argument put forth in the article is that these selected books make a significant contribution in understanding the pros and cons of da‘wa through their contents; approach and style; construct a momentous contribution to da‘wa literature in the English language and thus accomplish the need of da‘uāt glocally
