PROTOONCOGENE
Genes that promote autonomous cell growth in cqncer cells are called oncogenes, and their normal cellular counterparts are called protooncogenes. Protooncogenes are physiologic regulators of cell proliferation and differentiation, oncogenes are characterized by the ability to promote cell growth in the absence of normal mitogenic signals. Their products, called oncoproteins, resemble the normal products of protooncogenes with the exception that oncoproteins are devoid of important regulatory elements.Their production in the transformed cells becomes constitutive, that is, not dependent on growth factors or other external signal. Each of the cancer genes has a specific function, the dysregulation of which contributes to the origin or progression of malignancy. It traditional to describe cancer- causing genes on the basis of their presumed function.Mutations in genes that regulate these cellular traits are seen in every cancer. However, the precise genetic pathways that give rise to these attributes differ between cancers, even within the same orhan. It is widely believed that the occurrence of mutations in cancer-causing genes is conditioned by the robustness of the DNA repair machinery of the cell. When genes that normally sense andrepair DNA demage are impaired or lost, thevresultant genomic instability favors mutations in genes that regulate the other acquired capabilities of cancer cells
Peritoneal Shunt Extraction in Children Using Laparoscopy: A Case Report
Laparoscopy is one way to perform various simple procedures or surgeries in the abdominal cavity. Laparoscopy can be useful in the management of ventriculo-peritoneal shunt (VP Shunt) fractures. The peritoneal component of the shunt remaining in the abdominal cavity can be removed using laparoscopy. A pediatric patient with hydrocephalus with a history of VP Shunt insertion 5 years ago, came with complaints of weakness, vomiting and difficulty eating. Physical examination revealed the presence of edema in the chamber area. A CT scan of the head and plain abdominal radiographs were performed. The diagnosis was made as a shunt fracture, with the peritoneal component of the shunt remaining in the abdominal cavity. The patient received treatment in the form of a revised VP shunt and peritoneal shunt extraction using standard laparoscopy which is commonly used for adult patients. The patient's condition improved after the procedure. Peritoneal shunt extraction in cases of VP shunt fracture can be safely performed using laparoscopy. If there are limited tools, this procedure can still be performed on children using standard laparoscopy which is usually used for adult patients. Authors report this case due to no previous report in Mojokerto area were known
Molecular Toxicology of Organophosphate Poisoning
The use of organophosphates (pesticides and other compounds to eradicate pests), currently, to increase the fulfillment of the population's consumption needs has a double-edged sword effect, on the one hand it can increase the need for food to be consumed by the population. The negative effect that can arise is the safety of organophosphate drugs which can contaminate the soil and water sources around the place where organophosphate drugs are used. The negative effects of organophosphates are associated with the effects of xenobiotics on humans who consume them. Xenobiotics are associated with toxicdynamic effects where organophosphates cause irreversible inhibition of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase (ACh). ACh is one of the main enzymes in the nervous system that terminates impulse conduction through the hydrolysis process of acetylcholine enzymes. Acetylcholinesterase is a specific molecular target of organophosphate pesticides. The inhibition of the Ach enzyme causes the inhibition of the acetylcholine enzyme which is normally always hydrolyzed by the Ach enzyme and is a specific biological marker of pesticide poisoning. Inhibition of ACh will cause the accumulation of the enzyme acetylcholine, resulting in negative effects of organophosphate poisoning which can lead to death. In this paper, the authors collect from various sources related to the study of molecular toxicology toxidynamic effects of drug safety and organophosphate poisoning. The results of this review article show that organophosphate poisoning is associated with irreversible inhibition of the acetylcholinesterase enzyme which results in death in the individual concerned
Characteristics of Indonesian Wild honey and Cultivited Honey and Their Antibacterial Activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli
Indonesia's natural wealth is very abundant in the form of flora and fauna that can be developed as raw materials for medicine. Honey in Indonesia is very diverse from Sabang to Merauke. Different types of honey are influenced by regional origin, season at harvest, type of bee, type of plant source of nectar, way of life of bees (cultivated or wild), harvesting method and post-harvest handling. This study aims to determine the characteristics of forest bee honey and cultivated honey and to determine the potential of honey as an antibacterial in the treatment of infectious diseases caused by Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia Coli bacteria. The materials used were Carisa honey samples from Wild honey [Wild Klanceng and Wild Cerana] and Cultivation [Cerana Cultivation], S. aureus and E. coli bacteria. The characteristic test method is in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard and the honey inhibition test against the growth of S. aureus and E. Coli bacteria using the diffusion method. The results showed that Wild Cerana (WC) and Wild Klanceng (WK) honey demonstrated higher water content, ash content, acidity and glucose from Cerana Cultivated (CC) honey. Carissa Honey (beside Cerana cultivated honey) had antibacterial activity against S. aureus and E. Coli at different concentrations. Wild Wild Honey has the highest antibacterial activity compared to other types of honey. Conclusion Indonesian wild honey showed weak antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. Meanwhile, honey that is cultivated does not have antibacterial activity.
Analisis Faktor Penyebab Ketimpangan Pendapatan pada Lima Provinsi Tertimpang di Indonesia
This research was conducted to find out the effect of economic growth, the human development index, the provincial minimum wage, and provincial government capital expenditure on the level of income inequality. This research uses five provinces with the highest inequality including the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Gorontalo, West Java, DKI Jakarta, and Papua. The sample determination uses a saturated sampling technique with 5 provinces from 2015-to 2020, so the total sample is 30 data. The data type is secondary data sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). This research uses a multiple linear regression method with panel data analysis and program Eviews 10 with a significance level of 5% (0.05). Partially, the results show that the human development index, the provincial minimum wage, and the realization of provincial government capital expenditures have a significant effect on income inequality, while economic growth has no effect. The results also show that simultaneously the four independent variables affect income inequality
HABITUS MASYARAKAT DI DAERAH KEKERINGAN PADA DESA JATISARI KABUPATEN SITUBONDO
Drought is a serious problem that often arises when the dry season arrives. Usually, this situation occurs in an area that continuously experiences below-average rainfall so that the water supply becomes less. In general, the onset of a drought disaster cannot be known, but it can be said that drought occurs when the available water is no longer sufficient for daily needs. One example is the drought that occurred in Jatisari Village, Arjasa District, Situbondo Regency. The people of Jatisari Village have to try hard to get water that is used for their daily needs such as drinking, cooking, bathing, and washing. This study uses Pierre Bourdieu's theory of habitus. Habitus is the mental or cognitive structure by which people relate to the social world. This study uses qualitative research methods, with a focus on the ethnographic approach. Ethnography focuses on groups that share a common culture. The results of the research obtained are that the habitus in Jatisari Village makes the community have a helping nature as evidenced by the existence of mutual cooperation in making water sources and repairing damaged bore wells. Then there is harmony with neighbors when they are allowed to borrow water, entrusting the jurigen to fetch water, and the honesty of the community when conducting water transactions makes the relationship closer in society. Keywords: Adaptation to Climate Change, Drought, Habitu
