Le radici storiche della cerealicoltura moderna tra archivi e agronomia
Full text linkL’articolo mira a presentare gli elementi costitutivi di un progetto in fieri che si propone di indagare le fonti archivistiche disponibili a partire dalla metà del Settecento sino al pieno Novecento, per ripercorrere lo sviluppo dell’agricoltura e individuare e analizzare le tecniche di coltivazione adottate in passato, prima dello sviluppo della cerealicoltura intensiva. Lo scandaglio della documentazione archivistica rappresenta l’elemento fondante della ricerca che, in un’ottica di interdisciplinarietà, vuole contribuire ad individuare le tecniche e le tempistiche di lavorazione e fertilizzazione del suolo, le colture adottate e le rotazioni applicate al fine di rapportare le informazioni recuperate dai documenti ai risultati produttivi agronomici e ai rapporti pedoclimatici. The article aims to present the constituent elements of a project in progress that aims to investigate the archival sources available from the mid-eighteenth century to the mid-twentieth century, to retrace the development of agriculture and identify and analyze the cultivation techniques adopted in the past, before the development of intensive cereal growing. The sounding of archival documentation represents the founding element of the research which, with a view to interdisciplinarity, wants to contribute to identifying the techniques and timing of tillage and fertilization of the soil, the crops adopted and the rotations applied in order to report information retrieved from documents to agronomic production results and soil and climate reports
Gli archivi in un grafo. L’ontologia Records in Contexts nel quadro degli standard e della pratica della descrizione archivistica
Full text linkDescription is one of the key activities of archival profession, a guarantee for correct management, access and conservation of archives. The cornerstones of the tradition, formalized in the last decade of the twentieth century in the standards of the International Council on Archives, are the respect of fonds and their contexts. The ICA standardization renewal process started in 2012 has produced two versions, both in draft, of the Reference Model of the brand new standard RiC-Records in Contexts, on which the very recent RiC-Ontology has been based. The descriptive hierarchy and the concept of the finding aid – even electronic – as a document isolated from the Linked Open Data available in the infosphere are overcome. This contribution aims to present RiC-CM and RiC-O, their criticalities and perspectives, contextualizing them within the debate and practices of archival description.La descrizione è uno dei perni della professione archivistica, garanzia di corretta gestione, accesso e conservazione degli archivi. I capisaldi della tradizione, formalizzata nell’ultimo decennio del Novecento anche negli standard dell’International Council on Archives, sono il rispetto dell’integrità dei fondi e dei loro contesti di produzione. Il processo di rinnovamento degli standard avviato dal 2012 dall’ICA ha prodotto due versioni, ambedue in bozza, del Reference Model di Records in Contexts, su cui si è basata la recentissima RiC-Ontology. Si supera la gerarchia descrittiva e la concezione dello strumento di ricerca – anche digitale – come opera isolata rispetto ai Linked Open Data disponibili nell’infosfera. Questo contributo intende presentare contenuti, criticità e prospettive di RiC-CM e RiC-O, contestualizzandoli rispetto al dibattito e alla pratica della descrizione archivistica.

Full text linkThe text examines some incunabula now in the Biblioteca Universitaria in Cagliari and their ex libris, which belong to the library collection of Giulio Salinero (1574-1612), a lawyer born in Savona, and also to the Dominican Convent of Savona. These books, formerly part of the Simon collection, settled in in Alghero, and of the Library of the Piarist Order in Cagliari, were given to the Biblioteca Universitaria in the second half of XIX century. They relate to the antiquarian interests growing in Sardinia between the end of XVIIth and the beginning of XVIIIth century.L’articolo esamina alcuni incunaboli della Biblioteca Universitaria di Cagliari, i cui ex libris rimandano alla raccolta libraria del giurista savonese Giulio Salinero (1574-1612) e al convento di San Domenico dei frati Predicatori di Savona. Tali incunaboli sono pervenuti alla Biblioteca Universitaria dalla raccolta privata della famiglia algherese dei Simon e dalla Biblioteca dei padri scolopi di Cagliari, devoluta all’Universitaria in età post unitaria. Essi sono il frutto di acquisti di carattere antiquario, effettuati dai precedenti possessori ai primi dell’800. Tali acquisti attestano gli interessi di carattere bibliofilo maturati negli ambienti intellettuali della Sardegna di fine ’700 e di primo ’800
La comunicazione archivistica nell’età dei social network. Il caso italiano e le principali strategie nel contesto internazionale
Full text linkThe widespread use of social media in people’s everyday life has set the basis for big changes in the relationships between individuals, public and private bodies on a global scale. With public administrations willing to adjust their identities to new tools for communication, archival organizations approached to social networks to connect with new users and enhance their heritage.This paper aims to define methods, specificities and limits of the Italian archival institutions’ social media policies, opening up to a first comparison with other national strategies, especially with the French one. A special focus has been put on the role of social networks in March and April 2020, when Italian archives faced a two-month lockdown following the health emergency caused by the spread of COVID-19: moved away from the ordinary work, archivists and archival institutes were encouraged to start alternative forms of communication with their users, including a more effective social campaign.L’uso diffuso dei social media nella vita quotidiana delle persone ha posto le basi per un cambiamento radicale nei rapporti tra individui, pubblica amministrazione ed enti privati, su scala globale. Mentre le istituzioni pubbliche sono impegnate a riconfigurare le proprie policies comunicative in funzione dei nuovi strumenti a loro disposizione, gli istituti di conservazione hanno individuato nei social network un mezzo per ampliare il proprio bacino di utenti e, al tempo stesso, proseguire nell’opera di valorizzazione del proprio patrimonio documentario.Questo lavoro si propone di definire modalità, specificità e limiti dell’uso dei social media nelle istituzioni archivistiche italiane, aprendo a un primo confronto tra strategie nazionali, in particolare con quella francese. Un’attenzione specifica è stata rivolta all’impiego dei social media nei mesi di marzo e aprile del 2020, quando gli archivi italiani sono stati chiusi al pubblico in virtù dell’emergenza sanitaria determinata dalla diffusione del COVID-19: impossibilitati a procedere nel lavoro ordinario, istituzioni archivistiche e operatori del settore hanno potenziato l’uso dei social network, divenuti strumenti imprescindibili per comunicare con la propria utenza
La Biblioterapia e le biblioteche come luogo di cura
Full text linkBibliotherapy is the discipline that studies the potential curative use of books and reading: it was born only in the Twentieth century, even though the therapeutic function of books was already evident since ancient times.This subject has different application methods and different typologies, furthermore it is applied by mental health experts but also by professionals that work in very different areas: teachers, librarians, social workers and many others. It is important to underline that it is not necessary for a bibliotherapeutic intervention to be focusedexclusively on reading; recreational activities can be part of this practice, for example the free ones offered in some public libraries that represent a support means for the user in need. Lastly, Bibliotherapy is a process through which a person can learn to take herself as an object of study to solve her problems and to improve herself.La Biblioterapia è, in generale, la disciplina che studia il potenziale potere curativo dei libri e della loro lettura: essa nasce soltanto nel Ventesimo secolo, nonostante, sin dall’antichità, fosse già chiara la funzione terapeutica dei libri.Tale disciplina presenta differenti modalità di applicazione e diverse tipologie, inoltre non è applicabile esclusivamente da parte di esperti della salute mentale, come il termine terapia porterebbe a pensare, ma è invece utilizzata anche da professionisti competenti in aree di interesse molto diverse tra loro: insegnanti, bibliotecari, assistenti sociali e altri ancora.È importante sottolineare che un intervento biblioterapeutico non deve essere necessariamente incentrato sulla sola lettura; possono fare parte di questa pratica anche attività ricreative, come quelle gratuite offerte all’interno di alcune biblioteche pubbliche, che rappresentano uno strumento di supporto per l’utente in difficoltà.Per concludere, la Biblioterapia è un processo attraverso il quale la persona può imparare a prendere se stessa come oggetto di studio per risolvere i propri problemi e per automigliorarsi
Library as a Research Support System for AHSS Doctoral Students: Impact of Marital Status and Gender on Researchers
Full text linkResearchers, particularly doctoral students, face numerous challenges in their academic pursuits. The influence of gender and marital status factors in a researcher's Ph.D. journey in this context was examined. The study aimed to identify whether researcher problems were influenced by marital and gender factors and attempt to determine how the library could support the researchers. Few studies explore the role of support systems, especially the library, to meet researcher needs and help alleviate their doctoral challenges. The present study examined a sample of 500 AHSS (Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences) doctoral students, from five top-ranking Indian state universities regarding their researcher problems. Data was collected with a structured questionnaire. The study found conclusive evidence that a researcher's marital status and gender played an essential part in their research career. The authors recommended the library's possible roles as research support within this framework and how best the library could help assuage doctoral challenges.Researchers, particularly doctoral students, face numerous challenges in their academic pursuits. Full text linkThe article seeks to examine the book collection which Tommaso Giustiniani (1477-1528) brought with him in Holy Hermitage (Eremo) of Camaldoli from Venice when the Venetian nobleman became a Camaldolese monk in 1510 with the name of Paolo. The research of the volumes (27 incunabula and 12 16th century editions) with his ownership note “Thomae Iustiniani et amicorum”, gathered before his religious vocation, demonstrates the development and new attitudes of his personal interests. His studying interests modified between the period as a student at the University of Padua and his following staying in Venice, illustrating the raise of his religious reflection before his entry in Camaldoli.Al momento di entrare a far parte della congregazione Camaldolese nell’Eremo di Camaldoli, dove ebbe parte primaria nell’iniziare la riforma della chiesa cattolica, Tommaso Giustiniani si fece inviare da Venezia una serie di volumi a stampa che lo avevano accompagnato durante gli studi all’Università di Padova e poi nel periodo trascorso a Venezia e a Murano prima di prendere l’abito camaldolese. Tali volumi (tutti anteriori al 1510) sono conservati ora in biblioteche italiane dove giunsero al momento delle soppressioni napoleoniche e del regno d’Italia e permettono, accanto ai manoscritti conservati presso l’Eremo di Tusculo, di indagare e di approfondire le nostre conoscenze sui suoi studi e sulle sue ricerche
Ferdinando Martini - his political activity for Italian libraries
Full text linkThe text clarifies the biography and works of Ferdinando Martini (1841-1929), researcher and bibliophile, owner of a big library, which was later given to the Biblioteca Forteguerriana in Pistoia. Martini was at his time, together with Bonghi, the politician most involved in the reassessment of library policies in Italy after the national unification. He was Deputate at the Italian Parliement between 1876 and 1919, General Secretary of the Ministry of Education and collaborator of the Minister, Michele Coppino, in the first Giolitti government (1892-1893). He attended the 1879 inquiry on the Alessandrina Library in Rome, which is here re-examined, and partecipated in the political debate on State libraries in Italy, especially on the two National libraries founded in Rome and Florence. Martini’s contribute to the Regulation on governmental libraries in Italy (october 28th, 1885, no. 346) reveals also his commitment to promoting the knowledge of the national bibliographic heritage, especially through the project Indici e cataloghi for the description of the main Italian collections of manuscripts and books.Il testo illustra la figura e l’opera di Ferdinando Martini (1841- 1929), studioso e bibliofilo, proprietario di una vasta biblioteca privata giunta alla Biblioteca Forteguerriana di Pistoia, considerato l’uomo politico italiano più attento alla riorganizzazione del servizio bibliotecario nazionale dello Stato unitario, insieme a Bonghi. Deputato al Parlamento italiano tra il 1876 e il 1919, dal 1884 al 1886 segretario generale del Ministero della Pubblica Istruzione e collaboratore del ministro Coppino, Ministro della Pubblica Istruzione col primo governo Giolitti (1892-1893), Martini prese parte all’inchiesta del 1879 sulla Biblioteca universitaria Alessandrina, qui ricostruita, e soprattutto al dibattito politico italiano sulle biblioteche statali, dando impulso alle due biblioteche nazionali centrali di Roma e Firenze. Beyond the subscriptions. What are transformative agreements
Full text linkThis essay intends to provide the definition and an initial analysis of the transformative agreements, a modern type of deals between scientific publishers and one or more institutions (universities, library systems, etc.). These agreements, which are joining the traditional subscriptions to the scientific journals are not only as a recent phase of the contractual relationship between publishers and research world, but must be considered as one of the phenomena that most characterize the current period of the open access (OA). A phase in which open access records an increase in consensus (even among publishers) but also in criticism as it would be turning into one of the paid publishing options.Il contributo intende fornire la definizione e una prima analisi dei contratti trasformativi (transformative agreements), un nuovo tipo di accordo tra gli editori scientifici e una o più istituzioni (università, sistemi bibliotecari, ecc.) Questi contratti, che si stanno affiancando ai tradizionali abbonamenti alle riviste scientifiche, non devono essere considerati solo come una nuova fase del rapporto contrattuale tra editori e mondo della ricerca, ma vanno considerati come uno dei fenomeni che più caratterizzano l'attuale momento dell'Open Access (OA). Una fase in cui l'accesso aperto registra un aumento dei consensi (anche da parte degli editori) ma anche delle critiche in quanto si starebbe trasformando in una delle opzioni editoriali a pagamento
Re-reading the dossier about the Venetian prototypographers Johann and Wendelin from Spira
Full text linkThe known documentation about the brothers John and Windelin from Spira is reread here. This is above all informations obtained from the editions themselves, in addition to the famous privilege for the exclusive exercise of the printing in Venice. The occasion is gluttonous to highlight some respectable female figures in the family entourage of the from Spira, as well as the rich plot of German merchants underlying the landing of the typography in the lagoon (John from Köln, the Dinslakens, Peter Ugelheimer). In addition, it is thus possible to identify the proprium that characterized the production of Vindelino, whose slightly elusive figure usually seems to disappear in the face of his brother’s pre-eminence.Il testo offre una rilettura della documentazione esistente sui fratelli Giovanni e Vindelino da Spira. Si tratta di informazioni desunte dalle edizioni stesse, in aggiunta al famoso privilegio per l’esercizio esclusivo della stampa a Venezia. Un’occasione ghiotta per portare alla luce alcune notevoli figure femminili nell’entourage familiare dei da Spira, così’ come la ricca trama di mercanti tedeschi che sottende l’approdo della tipografia nella laguna (Giovanni da Colonia, i Dinslaken, Peter Ugelheimer). É possibile dunque identificare, in aggiunta, le caratteristiche tipiche della produzione di Vindelino, la cui figura un po’ elusiva è solitamente oscurata dalla preminenza del fratello
