THE IMPACT OF DIGITAL SIMULATIONS IN PHYSICS TEACHING ON ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AND LEARNING MOTIVATION

    No full text
Physics Educators using Digital Simulation Tools in Physics Education. This study examines the impact of physics simulations on first year undergraduate students academic performance and motivation to learn. A quasi-experimental design was used with an experimental group (i.e. digital simulations in physics coursework) and genetic control (i.e. traditional instruction). Conceptual understanding and problem-solving performance in some domain of physics was measured through pre- and post-intervention tests; and in some studies motivation and attitudes of students in regard to moving from conceptual learning into problem solving were measured through surveys and interviews. Results showed that the experimental group had a significant improvement in their mean post-test scores and traditional approaches gave lower scores in physics post test, with the experimental group obtaining significantly higher mean scores than the control group, and there was also a significant difference towards students’ enthusiasm and interest compared to a traditional approach in learning physics. Further qualitative feedback uncovered that simulations were effective in providing concrete illustrations of abstract phenomena, making students more enthusiastic about the subject, and enhancing their confidence in solving physics problems. The results in this study highlight that interactive simulations can hold promise for both learning and motivational outcomes in the context of physics education. The implications of accompanied curriculum design and teacher training are discussed, and proposed directions for future studies, including the utilization of virtual reality, and the long-lasting effects of simulation-based learning on students\u27 retention of physics principles are suggested

This research focuses on the economic aspect of the Spanish kingdoms, which is of great importance to these kingdoms, as it is considered one of the most important aspects for evaluating the kingdoms existing in northern Spain. Therefore, we find that their kings and statesmen were focusing on this aspect, in order to build it on a prosperous and developed foundation based on agriculture, industry, exchange, and trade relations with neighboring countries and other countries. These relations and trade exchange reflect the level of economic prosperity that prevailed in the kingdoms of northern Spain

TOWARD A PUBLICATION ETHICS STANDARDS SYSTEM FOR VIETNAMESE SCHOLARLY JOURNALS: A STAKEHOLDER–ARTIFACT INTERACTION FRAMEWORK, MODULAR TAXONOMY, AND VALIDATION PROTOCOL

Publication ethics has become a practical infrastructure requirement for journals rather than a purely normative aspiration. Yet many scholarly journal ecosystems—particularly those dominated by university- and institute-based titles with lean editorial staffing—face an implementation gap: international guidance is widely available, while locally operational policy architectures are uneven and difficult to maintain under rapid digitalization and AI- assisted writing and reviewing. This paper proposes VPESS (Vietnam Publication Ethics Standards System), a modular standards blueprint designed for Vietnamese scholarly journals but transferable to similar contexts. The study adopts a design-science orientation and develops VPESS through: (i) a stakeholder–artifact interaction model that locates ethical risks at concrete workflow events, (ii) a normative synthesis of internationally used ethics benchmarks and publisher policies, and (iii) an operational “element engineering” step that translates principles into auditable requirements linked to evidence artifacts and escalation pathways. VPESS v1.0 comprises three modules (Authors, Editors, Reviewers), 27 themes, and 81 implementable elements, each tagged as core or advanced to support capacity-sensitive adoption. Beyond the taxonomy, we contribute an evaluation layer— two lightweight indices for policy coverage and workflow readiness—and a Delphi-based validation protocol for consensus calibration and iterative updating. The framework is positioned as a versioned community resource that can remain extensible as norms evolve (e.g., around AI tools and bilingual/translation publication practices), while improving interoperability with global publishing expectations

REPOSITIONING VIETNAMESE ACADEMIC JOURNALS IN A NON-ENGLISH RESEARCH SYSTEM: CHALLENGES, OPPORTUNITIES, AND OPEN SCIENCE PATHWAYS

Vietnam has experienced rapid growth in internationally indexed publications over the last decade, driven by performance-based funding, promotion criteria, and institutional ranking pressures. Yet domestic academic journals—most of which publish primarily in Vietnamese—have not benefited proportionally from this growth. They struggle to attract high-quality submissions, suffer from weak digital infrastructure, and remain marginal in research evaluation. This paper develops a system-level analysis of Vietnamese academic journals as part of an ecological chain shaped by national evaluation regimes, researchers’ publishing strategies, journal-level capacity, and emerging open science practices. Drawing on policy documents, prior bibliometric studies on Vietnamese education and social sciences, and comparative evidence from China’s Double First-Class initiative and international debates on responsible metrics and open science, the paper: (i) maps the Vietnamese journal ecological chain; (ii) diagnoses structural bottlenecks that weaken domestic journals; and (iii) outlines an open science–oriented reform pathway compatible with Vietnam’s institutional context. The proposed framework integrates insights from policy studies, scientometrics, and journal governance, and is intended to guide both empirical research and practical reform scenarios for repositioning Vietnamese journals in a non-English research system

DESIGN AND EVALUATION OF AN OBE-BASED UNDERGRADUATE COURSE ON THE FUNDAMENTALS OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN CHINA

In the context of China’s growing emphasis on innovation and entrepreneurship, higher education institutions are under increasing pressure to reform entrepreneurship education and better equip students for future challenges. This study investigates the effectiveness of applying the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) approach to an undergraduate entrepreneurship course, in comparison to traditional instructional methods. A quasi-experimental design was employed at a public university in Hebei Province to maintain ecological validity. The experimental group, comprising 39 students, received OBE-based instruction, while the control group, consisting of 36 students, followed a conventional teaching model. The findings demonstrate that the OBE approach produced significantly positive effects on key constructs derived from Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT), with the experimental group outperforming the control group across all major indicators. These results provide empirical support for the intergration of OBE into entrepreneurship education and offer practical recommendations for enhancing pedagogical practices within Chinese higher education

The Kashkadarya region of Uzbekistan is experiencing significant water ecosystem degradation due to the discharge of 7 million m³/year of inadequately treated wastewater, resulting in elevated mineralisation, organic/microbiological pollution, and eutrophication. Climate change, typified by a 75% glacier loss within a 15-year timespan, has led to a marked intensification of water scarcity. The present study assesses membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology for sustainable wastewater reuse. MBRs have been shown to remove 97–98% of organic pollutants (BOD5 < 6 mg/L), thereby preventing 1,416–2,511 t/year of organic matter and 220–365 t/year of nitrogen from entering the river. In addition, they achieve >99.9% pathogen removal, ensuring safe irrigation. Notwithstanding the fact that capital costs are 13–15% higher than those of conventional systems (645 vs. 570 million USD), resulting in a financial net present value (NPV) of –670 million USD, inclusive of 149 million USD in ecosystem benefits, the socio-economic NPV is nevertheless –520 million USD. It is posited that MBRs, with government support ranging from 35 to 40 per cent, may offer the most viable solution for regions experiencing water scarcity.

Background: The digital revolution has transformed health information dissemination among middle-aged and elderly populations in China. With over 140 million internet users aged 60 and above, social media platforms have become primary health information channels. However, this demographic faces significant challenges including digital divide constraints and high susceptibility to health-related rumors, which account for 42% of all rumors targeting older adults. Objective: This study investigates mechanisms underlying health information dissemination behaviors among middle-aged and elderly social media users, examining how health information literacy, social support networks, and cognitive processing ability influence information acquisition capabilities and rumor dissemination propensity. Methods: A mixed-methods design surveyed 472 active social media users aged 50-75 in Changsha using structural equation modeling to test eight hypotheses across five constructs: health information literacy, social support networks, cognitive processing ability, health information acquisition ability, and rumor dissemination propensity. Qualitative analysis conducted in-depth interviews with 15 participants, analyzed through NVivo14 thematic coding. Results: All hypotheses received empirical support with exceptional explanatory power (R² = 92.3%, 81.5%, 73.3% for key constructs). Health information literacy demonstrated extraordinarily strong influence on cognitive processing ability (β = 0.856, f² = 2.747), establishing itself as the foundational element of health communication ecology. Cognitive processing and information acquisition abilities both significantly suppressed rumor dissemination (β = -0.589, β = -0.572). Social support networks indirectly influenced rumor propensity through information acquisition mediation (β = 0.221). Qualitative analysis revealed "authority orientation plus experiential verification" evaluation patterns and socially-driven dissemination behaviors shaped by socioeconomic stratification. Conclusion: Health information dissemination among older adults constitutes a complex adaptive system involving individual cognitive schemas, social networks, economic constraints, and institutional supports. The research provides theoretical foundations for understanding digital health communication and practical guidance for designing targeted interventions to enhance information literacy and reduce rumor propagation in aging societies

CIVIL AND CRIMINAL LIABILITIES OF TRADITIONAL AND COMPLEMENTARY MEDICINE PRACTITIONERS UNDER THE MALAYSIAN TRADITIONAL AND COMPLEMENTARY MEDICINE ACT 2016

Freedom embodies the fundamental human aspiration to exercise autonomy and make decisions concerning one’s own life. Apart from this context, Malaysia’s evolving regulatory framework for Traditional and Complementary Medicine (T&CM) continues to shape the duties, liabilities, and professional standards of practitioners under the T&CM Act 2016. This study examines the evolving regulatory landscape governing T&CM practice in Malaysia, with particular focus on the legal duties and liabilities arising under the Traditional and Complementary Medicine Act 2016. This paper adopts a qualitative methodology. While global scholarship on the legal implications of T&CM regulation is expanding, detailed analyses specific to the Malaysian context remain limited. Addressing this gap, the research provides a systematic exploration of practitioners’ statutory obligations, the mandatory registration regime implemented on 1 March 2021, and the qualification requirements introduced to enhance professional standards. It assesses the extent to which these measures enhance patient safety and service quality, while also addressing concerns raised by scholars regarding the adequacy of the existing legal framework in addressing contemporary regulatory challenges. The study also considers Malaysia’s broader efforts to institutionalise T&CM within its national healthcare system, as well as the parallel regulatory emphasis on ensuring the safety of herbal and related products. Thus, this research contributes nuanced insights into the legal architecture of T&CM in Malaysia and offers perspectives that may inform future policy refinement and comparative regulatory developments
