THE REPRESENTATION OF GENDER IDEOLOGY IN THE EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION TEACHER\u27S HANDBOOK

    Get PDF
Books that are regularly read shape readers\u27 thinking and views. This study aims to critique and uncover how gender ideology is constructed in The Early Childhood Education Teacher\u27s Handbook (ECETH) by (1) identifying gender ideology as a societal discourse; (2) explain-ing ideological co-existence in the form of naturalisation and gender resistance; and (3) for-mulating asymmetric gender progressivism. This study adopted a mixed-methods approach, supported by qualitative descriptive methods. Data were obtained from six books and a com-pleted questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using critical discourse analysis and NVi-vo. The results show that gender ideology is not a stable or fixed worldview but rather a dis-cursive formation shaped by social contingencies that depend on professional, locally embed-ded institutional structures, policies, and practices. Gender is naturalized in terms that do not constitute an explicit challenge to gender equality, but rather an implicit refinement process that maintains existing hierarchies while allowing some room for modification. Asymmetric gender progressivism helps explain why gender-inclusive language and imagery coexist with largely intact inequality. This is a crucial realization in the debate about changing gender norms and in the endeavor to develop genuinely inclusive pedagogical resources

ECOGROW: A LOW-COST SMART GREENHOUSE TEACHING PLATFORM FOR PROJECT-BASED ENGINEERING EDUCATION ALIGNED WITH THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

    Get PDF
Engineering education increasingly faces a dual requirement: graduates must master embedded sensing, actuation, and basic control, while also developing sustainability-oriented decision-making competencies. This paper presents EcoGrow, a low-cost smart greenhouse teaching platform designed for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and project-based learning (PBL) in resource-constrained contexts. EcoGrow integrates an Arduino Mega 2560, a DHT22 temperature–humidity sensor, an I2C LCD, relay-driven actuators (12 V fan, mist pump, and lighting), and a Windows Forms (WinForms) desktop application communicating via serial for real-time monitoring, manual override, threshold configuration, and data logging. Rather than positioning EcoGrow as a novel greenhouse automation product, we frame it as a replicable teaching intervention that makes sustainability operational through measurable trade-offs (e.g., stability vs. duty cycle; humidity recovery vs. water proxy) and transparent control design choices (e.g., hysteresis, minimum on/off time). The paper contributes (i) a replicable hardware–software architecture for hands-on sustainability-oriented engineering education, (ii) a structured PBL module with explicit alignment to SDG 4, SDG 2, SDG 12, and SDG 13, and (iii) an evidence-based evaluation framework combining learning artifacts, rubric-based assessment, and log-derived indicators suitable for publishable reporting. The results from demonstration and classroom deployment show that EcoGrow reliably supports core learning outcomes in embedded systems and control, while enabling explicit sustainability reasoning grounded in data

    Get PDF
This study examines the effect of income inequality and gender inequality on expected length of schooling. The working group consists of countries with the highest and lowest human development scores in the Human Development Index. According to the reverse sampling technique, the top 14 countries with the highest scores and the bottom 14 countries with the lowest scores on the Human Development Index were selected. Panel data on the expected length of schooling, income inequality, and gender inequality in these countries between 1990 and 2023 were analyzed using the Jamovi 2.6 program. The average expected length of schooling in countries with the highest human development index is 17.3 years, while the average expected length of schooling in countries with the lowest human development index is 8.5 years. There is a significant difference between countries with high human development scores and those with low scores in terms of both income inequality and gender inequality averages. In countries with high human development scores, income inequality and gender inequality are lower. There is an inverse and significant relationship between expected years of schooling and income inequality and gender inequality. Gender inequality has a mediating effect between income inequality and expected length of schooling.

VILLAGE LEADERSHIP TRANSFORMATION THROUGH ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE: EVIDENCE FROM BOGOR, INDONESIA

    Get PDF
This study aims to examine the model of organizational culture in village governments in Bogor Regency, Indonesia, using the Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI). The instrument was adapted into Indonesian to facilitate respondents’ comprehension and completion. Each indicator was scored using a fixed scale of 100 points. Respondents were selected through purposive sampling, consisting of administrators or members of organizations directly involved in village governance who were considered representative of the wider community. The study was conducted in four villages—Bantarsari, Kemang, Jonggol, and Cariu. The findings reveal that the prevailing organizational culture in village governments tends toward Clan and Adhocracy orientations. This reflects the expectation that village leaders will transform their organizational culture toward a more familial, participatory, and innovative atmosphere while reducing the dominance of Hierarchy and Market orientations. The results imply that village leaders should foster a work environment characterized by trust, collaboration, flexibility, and internal cohesion to support effective local governance and sustainable community development

AWARENESS OF IDENTITY FUNCTION OF LANGUAGE - A KEY ELEMENT IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CRITICAL COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE IN THE FIRST LANGUAGE TEACHING

    Get PDF
Identity junction of language does not relate only to the symbolic dimension of literary language, seen as the essential representative of national awareness. According to modern sociolinguistics, the notion of the identity junction refers also to different language variants or discourses spoken by (sub)cultural groups to which an individual belongs. While in the post modern era an individual is expected to switch between different identities, the article discusses why a plurality of individual discourses, and the complexity of his identity should be considered in the first language teaching. The paper argues that linguistic cultural awareness is a key component of critical communicative competence and that the awareness about communicative and identity function of language should be developed closely related to each other. However, regardless of the findings that various discourses carry an identity value in communication, literary language still plays a special role in first-language teaching. This raises the question of how the teacher could help pupils to gain the sensitivity for situations requiring the use of literary language and how to become competent speakers of this discourse. It seems that both problems could also be reduced with the findings on the identity junction of different language discourses and genres or on the complexity of the identity of each individual

PREDICTORS OF CLIMATE ANXIETY: AN INTEGRATIVE FRAMEWORK

    Get PDF
Climate anxiety is an emerging psychological phenomenon reflecting the emotional, cognitive, and behavioral responses of individuals to the climate crisis. It is characterized by a persistent fear of environmental catastrophe amid an increasingly uncertain global environment. Adopting an integrative review approach, this review proposes a theory-oriented integrative framework synthesizing key predictors of climate anxiety, drawing on insights from psychology, sociology, media studies, and environmental sciences. Major predictors include demographic factors (age, gender, education), psychological factors (generalized anxiety disorder, risk perception, environmental identity), social factors (knowledge about climate change, media exposure), and experiences with extreme natural disasters. By conceptually integrating empirical findings across disciplines, organizing these predictors into a coherent framework enhances understanding of the multifactorial and interacting mechanisms that shape climate-related distress. Rather than aiming for exhaustive study inclusion or quantitative aggregation, this integrative perspective informs the design of educational programs, public health initiatives, and policies that acknowledge climate-related distress while promoting adaptive coping and constructive engagement. Overall, the review clarifies the conceptual pathways underlying climate anxiety and provides a foundation for future theory-driven and empirical research, contributing to both theoretical development and applied practice in addressing the psychological impacts of climate change

DESAFIOS DA FORMAÇÃO UNIVERSITÁRIA EM SAÚDE NO ENSINO SUPERIOR PÚBLICO BRASILEIRO DIANTE DA PRECARIZAÇÃO DO TRABALHO DOCENTE E DO SUBFINANCIAMENTO: REVISÃO DE ESCOPO

    Get PDF

    Get PDF

FINANCIAL INTEGERATION ACROSS BORDERS: INVESTIGATING THE CONNECTEDNESS OF FINANCIAL INTEGERATION AND ECONOMIC GROWTH IN DEVELOPED VS. DEVELOPING ECONOMIES

    Get PDF
This study examines the dynamic connections and interdependencies of financial markets across developed and emerging economies from 2010 to 2023. This study seeks to address this gap by analyzing the interconnectedness of financial markets in both developed and developing nations, employing the Granger causality test, the DCC-GARCH model, and the Diebold-Yilmaz methodology. The analysis reveals a substantial bi-directional positive correlation between the financial markets of advanced and emerging economies. The study employs the DCC GARCH approach, revealing that the connections between financial integration in established and emerging nations demonstrate significant volatility spillovers. Moreover, the t-DCC model computes volatilities and correlations unconditionally, indicating that the unconditional volatility across all markets is approximately one, denoting a significant level of integration, which leads to heightened volatility in both established and emerging markets. The Diebold and Yilmaz Connectedness test has clarified the degree of interconnectedness among various financial markets. The results indicate that while a substantial degree of correlation exists, the intensity of these relationships varies across different market circumstances and timeframes. These findings assert that financial integration significantly impacts economic growth, as demonstrated in this study. The integration of financial components into various investment portfolios may enhance risk-adjusted returns, particularly under sustainable investing paradigms
