UKRAINIAN ART IN THE CONTEXT OF THE GEOPOLITICAL CHALLENGE OF 2014-2025
The publication explores traditional and contemporary art and discourses, contextually generated socio-artistic practices that are currently being produced in Ukraine in the realities of war. The socio-cultural reflection on the modes of existence of war as a phenomenon of physical reality and as a discursive construct that exist simultaneously and are reproduced through material and symbolic (textual) parameters is taken into account. It is noted that reactive and reflexive artistic practices reflect the understanding of the novelty of “war in the city”, which requires the use of urban strategies of resistance. Existential differences in the creation of narratives for different target audiences of both local and global society are determined. The research methodology is based on own objective observation and analytics, which allowed identifying a number of typical artistic practices that were instantly transformed into artistic mobilization strategies of resistance. The conclusions indicate that artistic artivism has once again actualized the issue of the social content of art, the meaning of culture, national language and symbols, mobilizing artists to the processes of modeling current reality and its retranslating. Additionally, the role of museums and other institutions as places of refuge, humanitarian and cultural centers for preserving identity is revealed
RELIGIOUS PHRASEOLOGY IN THE LINGUOCULTURAL ASPECT
Religious language is all around us, embedded in advertising, politics and news media. Language and religion, being two different forms of spiritual national culture reflections, also demonstrate close relationships. The importance of the study of the interrelationship between language and religion is further observed within anthropological orientation of linguistics, since religion is taken into account as one of the most vital values of humanity reflected in language which can throw light upon national identity, self-awareness, as well as worldviews in general. Based on the material of Ukrainian religious phraseology, with the use of structural method and content analysis, the article makes an attempt to investigate the peculiarities of the functioning of religious phraseology as an important segment of the modern literary language. The present study contributed to linguistic studies aimed at gaining a general understanding of relationships between language and culture
MURAL AS A POLYLOGUE IN PUBLIC SPACE: THE COMMUNICATIVE POTENTIAL OF UKRAINIAN CONTEMPORARY MONUMENTAL ART
The article attempts to systematically analyze the communicative potential of Ukrainian muralism. Mural is considered as a form of monumental painting that exists in public space on the border of fine art, social expression, and urban intervention. Researchers trace the origins of muralism back to cave art, but only in the 20th century did murals become a socio-cultural phenomenon that expresses social, political, cultural, environmental, and other ideas. Ukrainian mural art is an integral part of world muralism, and today Ukraine, and in particular Kyiv, is one of its centers. Muralism in recent years, and especially during the Russo-Ukrainian war, has become an important tool of cultural policy, cultural exchange, and public communication. An analysis of the communicative aspects of muralism, conducted in the article, allows highlighting its social functions and mechanisms of influence on large human communities, and investigating why this type of monumental art represents a significant node of social interaction
DIGITAL TRADE TRANSFORMATION FOR SMES IN ASIA PACIFIC USING THE TECHNOLOGY-ORGANIZATION-ENVIRONMENT FRAMEWORK: A SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW
The explosive nature of digital trade development has changed the concept of international trade by offering companies means of optimising productivity, expanding the market base, and competing in the global market. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are relied upon in the Asia-Pacific region and have multiple issues, namely insufficient investments, lack of digital preparedness, and regulation complexity. The paper under review seeks to identify the issue of digital commerce transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) in the Asia-Pacific region based on the Technology-Organisation-Environment (TOE) paradigm. The paper is thorough covering the technical, organisational and environmental forces that are influencing the digital trade transformation of SMEs using the TOE conceptualisation. It provides information that is congruent with the multiple digital settings of Asia-Pacific region in that it encapsulates interaction of internal strengths or capabilities and external situations. In an extensive literature search, data bases were searched on the Google Scholar, Scopus and the Web of Science. The articles published during the last decade and concerning small and medium enterprise (SMEs), digital commerce, and Asia-Pacific region may be viewed as competent. Synthesis and categorisation of results within TOE framework were done in thematic coding and content analysis. It was determined through the study that SMEs need technology changes, institutional preparedness and facilitating environmental aspects to succeed in digital commerce. Nevertheless, a problem arises when the digital infrastructure and regulatory environment are compared between different countries. SMEs must align their operations with the e-commerce agreements of WTO in order to become more competitive internationally. The paper sheds light on the digital trade by putting it in the perspective of the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Asia-Pacific region. It integrates the TOE model and international trade practises and provides information to support the use of more policy makers and businesses to improve the digital preparedness and competitiveness of SMEs
GATS COMMITMENTS AND LIBERALIZATION OF THE SPORTS SERVICE INDUSTRY: WTO COMPLIANCE AND POLICY CHALLENGES
The GATS has brought significant alterations to the liberalization process of the services sector worldwide it encompassing the sports service industry. The sports service industry is the individual who administers and delivers a myriad of services related to professional and amateur sports, and includes event management, athlete training, distribution, arena operations, and overseas service in the entertainment and economic industry. It is essential to realize how GATS commitments arise when focusing on sports services because the sports industry contributes greatly to the world development of the economy, trade liberalization strategies, and facilitation of cross-border services. At this point, researchers have not conducted much research on how the sports service sector fulfills GATS commitments using the procedures of compliance with WTO and policy implementation. This research gap study is relevant in the process of trying to set export policies on sports services that are appropriate to their exclusive nature. The research highlights the novel insights into the different versions of the application of GATS to the countries of the WTO, as well as the discrepancies between the international policy requirements and the national laws. The author attempts to address this research gap using GATS regulations and sports services industries to conduct research into the domestic policy management and compliance with the WTO issues faced by nations. The methodology to be used to analyse documents used in this study is a qualitative approach based on a systematic literature review (SLR). The results demonstrate that the little liberalization of the sports services industry in the GATS principles and tension between the trade requirements and local policy guidelines and different practices of GATS commitment follow-up by WTO members. The findings reveal that governments need to formulate special policies that combine the global market liberalization trends and the nature of the sports services sector in the course of achieving international commitments and national interests
THE TRADE IMPLICATIONS OF SPORTS SPONSORSHIP AND LICENSING UNDER CHINA’S WTO OBLIGATIONS: A CASE STUDY OF THE BEIJING WINTER OLYMPICS
China’s hosting of the 2022 Winter Olympics became a case which involves both international trade obligations and domestic control over sponsorship and licensing in sports. The following study will therefore seek to assess whether China meets WTO requirements about the GATS and TRIPS agreements. Using documentation analysis, the findings from the case studies and official documents, academic and grey journals, stakeholder reports, it is possible to point out how Chinese law works and note the gap between legal regulation on paper and its enforcement. The result reveals that foreign sponsors faced restricted market access, complicated regulations, and prejudice that seemed to favour domestic companies. While China’s laws are compatible with WTO norms, in practice, it violates these principles through non-tariff measures, transparency, and equal treatment. The Major limitation of the study is that it only used secondary data. Future studies should also yield man-on-the-street interviews augmented by comparisons with other host nations of the Olympics
WTO DISPUTE SETTLEMENT UNDER STRESS: ANALYZING THE U.S.-CHINA TARIFF WARS (2018–2024)
This research examines the influence of the tariff war between the U.S. and China (2018–2024) on the working of the World Trade Organisation’s Dispute Settlement Mechanism (DSM). This study applied the Principles of Systematic Reviews, guided by the PRISMA framework, to examine seven peer-reviewed publications and discover the types of challenges that the WTO encounters. It examines important areas such as the increase in trade tensions, the impact of unilateral tariffs on the DSM and the halt in the system due to the Appellate Body crisis. It appears that the WTO suffered from a lack of trust because of the U.S. and China taking unilateral actions. These actions changed the way disputes are settled, as both nations now negotiate with each other and showed the weaknesses of a system based on agreement among all members. Several themes were identified, including issues with the system, needed reforms, unhappiness on the part of the United States, motives and impacts overseas. The study is significant as it would inform policymakers about the institutional weakness of the WTO Dispute Settlement Mechanism, and the urgent need to change it to make sure that the trading system is stable and rule-based. This study is theorised in terms of Realism and Institutions, which help understand the manner states act in multilateral trade arrangements. It has a weakness in its research because the small sample of peer-reviewed publications underlies it, and the diversity of the possible views of the problem may be underrepresented. Nevertheless, the findings can draw practical lessons on how to build more resilient and credible international trade organisations
