    Get PDF
FACTORS INFLUENCING LEAN MANUFACTURING PRACTICES ON PRODUCTION LEAD TIME SUSTAINABILITY

    Get PDF
For small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) aiming to remain competitive with restricted resources, reducing Production Lead Time (PLT) sustainably counts the most. Tools gleaned from lean manufacturing not only cut waste but also increase efficiency. However, the ability to achieve these aims depends on the context in which they are applied and how well they fit with others. The paper examines how the five main daily work tasks or tools in the lean system, such as Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Just-In-Time (JIT), Setup Time Reduction (STR), Employee Involvement (EI), and Layout Redesign (LR), combine to affect PLT in Malaysian SMEs. While previous studies have clearly highlighted the advantages of each step in a large production setup, the advantages for resource-limited, smaller firms remain largely unknown. This quantitative research, guided by Lean Thinking Theory and Socio-Technical Systems Theory, uses structured questionnaires for production and operations managers. The findings aim to offer insight into how completely integrated lean practices can lead to PLT. It provides practical advice for the adoption of leaner production systems

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY AND MIGRANT LABOUR MARKET INTEGRATION: A BIBLIOMETRIC REVIEW OF RESEARCH TRENDS (2000–2024)

    Get PDF
Language proficiency is widely recognised as a key determinant of migrant labour market integration, yet its meaning and value vary across disciplinary, institutional, and geographical contexts. This study presents a bibliometric and qualitative synthesis of 381 peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2000 and 2024 that examine language proficiency and migrant labour market outcomes. Using co-authorship analysis and keyword co-occurrence mapping, combined with a targeted review of highly cited and recent influential studies, the paper traces how language proficiency has been conceptualised and empirically assessed across the literature. The findings show that research is dominated by human capital and signalling approaches linking language proficiency to employment and earnings but also reveal persistent inequalities that language skills alone do not resolve. Institutional arrangements, discrimination, health, and socio-demographic factors substantially mediate the labour market value of language proficiency. The study reconceptualises language proficiency as a socially and institutionally mediated resource and highlights the need for more integrative and comparative approaches to migrant labour market research

INSTITUTIONAL PATHWAYS FOR IMPLEMENTING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT THROUGH ADAPTIVE IMPORT-SUBSTITUTION POLICY

    Get PDF
In the context of a dynamically transforming geoeconomic agenda driven by multiple factors—including the growing use of external restrictions as instruments for pursuing political or geoeconomic objectives by a number of states—there is a need to design adaptive mechanisms that facilitate the implementation of sustainable development. One such mechanism is the implementation of an import-substitution policy. Structural shifts in the economy under intensifying external constraints disrupt transnational supply chains for technological and consumer goods. This, in turn, results in serious negative consequences in the social sphere, creating significant risks of disrupting the processes involved in implementing sustainable development. In this situation, developing new—and further evolving established—theoretical approaches to import-substitution policy amid systemic transformations becomes an urgent task. In particular, it is necessary to adapt perspectives and approaches to studying import dependence with regard to the regional component, as well as in the context of ongoing systemic transformations that upend traditional models and theoretical approaches. Taking these aspects into account, the aim of the study is to substantiate and develop adaptive directions for advancing the theory of the economics of forced import substitution as a doctrine for determining courses of implementing sustainable development under conditions of systemic transformation. The subject of the study is the development of adaptive measures and directions for advancing theoretical and practical approaches to shaping a policy of forced import substitution amid institutional and conjunctural transformations, as a key instrument for ensuring sustainable development. The outcome of the study is a set of substantiating arguments that underscore the need to implement sustainable development within the paradigm of developing the theory of the economics of import substitution, oriented toward seeking optimal configurations for designing import-substitution trajectories in the context of their implementation at the macro- and meso-levels

WORKING CAPITAL MANAGEMENT AND FIRM PROFITABILITY: IMPLICATIONS FOR FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILITY IN VIETNAM

    Get PDF
This study examines the impact of working capital management (WCM) on firm profitability with a particular focus on financial sustainability in an emerging market context. Utilizing panel data from 649 non-financial enterprises registered on Vietnamese stock markets from 2019 to 2023, company profitability is represented by return on assets (ROA), while working capital management is assessed through the cash conversion cycle (CCC) and the current ratio (CR). To account for any nonlinear effects, squared terms of CCC and CR are included in the regression models. The empirical study uses pooled ordinary least squares (OLS), fixed-effects (FEM), and random-effects (REM) estimators. The results provide strong evidence of nonlinear relationships between working capital management and corporate profitability. The CCC has a U-shaped relationship with ROA. This means that both extremely aggressive and unduly relaxed working capital practices can hurt profits. On the other hand, the CR shows an inverted U-shaped relationship with profitability. The study contributes to the field of sustainable finance by demonstrating that effective management of working capital enhances the resilience of firms in Vietnam and fosters long-term economic success

Objective: The study aims to identify key principles and tools decreasing corruption and promoting greater transparency and accountability of public institutions. The authors analyze the examples of Scandinavian, Asian, and other countries. Singapore and Botswana, which have earned international recognition for their effective implementation of anti-corruption policies, are studied in detail. Methods: The authors utilize a wide range of methodological techniques. This research is inconceivable without comparative legal and legal history analysis, which uncovers general trends and specific features in anti-corruption strategies. Results: Based on an analysis of the legislation, institutional reforms, and social initiatives introduced in the examined countries, the authors offer recommendations on adapting successful practices in countries with high levels of corruption. Particular attention is paid to the role of specialized anti-corruption bodies, such as the Independent Commission Against Corruption in Hong Kong, the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau in Singapore, and the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime in Botswana. The key factors behind the success of these institutions are their independence, broad mandate, and active engagement with civil society and the media. Conclusions: The study emphasizes the importance of a comprehensive approach to implementing anti-corruption policy, including legislative and cultural changes. The findings demonstrate the need for international cooperation and exchange of best practices in anti-corruption policies and their practical implementation. In the age of digitalization, modern technologies are becoming increasingly important and will soon become an instrumental part of the fight against corruption

    Get PDF
Improving hospital service quality is determined not only by patient satisfaction but also by patient experience during care delivery. The decline in patient satisfaction at Faisal Islamic Hospital Makassar in 2024 indicates a gap between patient expectations and service performance. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze patient experience using the Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) method to identify priority areas and formulate strategies for improving healthcare service quality. A mixed-methods approach was applied, combining quantitative analysis of patient experience using IPA with qualitative data obtained through Focus Group Discussions with hospital management. A total of 149 patients and 20 key informants participated in the study. Quantitative data were analyzed univariately using SPSS and subsequently mapped using the IPA method. The results showed that of 49 service attributes, 13 attributes were classified in Quadrant I (Top Priority), 15 in Quadrant II (Keep Up the Good Work), 10 in Quadrant III (Low Priority), and 11 in Quadrant IV (Possible Overkill). Most service attributes were positioned in Quadrant II, indicating satisfactory performance. However, appointment timeliness and zero-wait service remained in Quadrant I with a compliance rate of 75.7%, highlighting the need for immediate improvement. In conclusion, enhancing patient experience at Faisal Islamic Hospital requires prioritizing efficient time management and improving administrative system responsiveness

BUILDING BRAND EQUITY IN THE PERFORMING ARTS: THE STRATEGIC ROLES OF PRODUCT DESIGN, SERVICE QUALITY, PRICING, AND CUSTOMER VALUE IN FUJIAN BALLET PRODUCTS

    Get PDF
Based on customer-based brand equity and value-based marketing, this study explores how specific marketing mix elements can promote the brand equity of regional ballet brands in China. Focusing on ballet dancers and institutions in Fujian, the research will make a quantitative survey on the audience and consumers of ballet performances, training courses and cultural and creative products. By adjusting the mature scales of perceived product value, customer-based brand equity and marketing mix evaluation, a structural equation model is constructed: product design, perceived product/service quality and price fairness are the antecedent variables, customer value is the intermediary variable, and brand equity is the final result.Previous studies have shown that marketing mix elements (especially products and communication) enhance brand equity through perceived value, while in Asian markets, perceived value will further affect brand resonance, affective commitment and customer-based brand equity. In the performing arts and tourism, quality, cost performance and experiential benefits are the core driving factors for the formation of brand equity.Extending these insights, this study expects that superior artistic–aesthetic design, reliable service delivery, and fair pricing jointly increase perceived customer value, thereby strengthening brand awareness, associations, perceived quality, and loyalty for Fujian ballet brands. The findings will contextualize customer‑based brand equity in the Chinese ballet industry and offer evidence‑based guidance for integrated arts marketing strategy

A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF MARKET RISK MEASUREMENT MODELS FOR THE CHINESE STOCK MARKET

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study is to compare two major risk measurement models in financial markets—the Value at Risk (VaR) model and the Conditional Value at Risk (CVaR) model—and to evaluate their effectiveness and limitations in stock market risk management. First, through an in-depth analysis of the theoretical foundations of stock market risk, the paper clarifies the importance of risk for investment decision-making, in particular its impact on asset allocation and risk management strategies. The findings show that VaR, as a traditional risk measurement tool, is simple and convenient and enables a rapid assessment of market risk; however, when confronted with extreme tail events it exhibits certain shortcomings and cannot fully capture the true risk of extreme losses. By contrast, CVaR, by focusing on tail risk, makes it possible to identify potential extreme losses more accurately; especially during periods of sharp market volatility, its early-warning function substantially outperforms VaR. In the empirical part of the article, historical data for the Shanghai A-share index are used. The GARCH-M model is applied to estimate VaR and CVaR, and their values are compared when measuring stock market risk. The results indicate that, at the same confidence level, CVaR is always greater than VaR, which further confirms the advantage of CVaR in reflecting risk losses more accurately, especially tail risk. Overall, this study not only provides a theoretical basis for risk management in financial markets, but also offers recommendations for improving risk measurement methods in the stock market, emphasizing the need to account for tail risk when making investment decisions. The conclusions have important reference value for investors seeking to develop more scientifically grounded risk control strategies in a dynamic market environment

PRÁCTICAS FINANCIERAS Y COMPETITIVIDAD EN PYMES DEL SECTOR COMERCIAL DE VALLEDUPAR

    Get PDF
