PSYCHOSOCIAL WORK ENVIRONMENT AND EMPLOYEE WELLBEING: STRESS AND PERSONALITY EFFECTS
The study examines the impact of the psychosocial work environment, measured as a high-order construct, on employee wellbeing, with stress as a mediator and personality as a moderator. The study collects the data from 230 employees across multiple sectors in Pakistan. Using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling, the results reveal that psychosocial work environment has a positive effect on employee wellbeing both directly and indirectly through the reduction of stress. Additionally, personality significantly moderates stress and well-being relationships, indicating that individual differences influence the extent to which stress impacts wellbeing. These findings are consistent with Job Demands–Resources and Conservation of Resources theories. This study contributes by validating PWE as a multidimensional construct within a single integrated model, offering new insights for enhancing wellbeing in developing country contexts. The findings suggest that organisations should enhance leadership capabilities, manage workloads effectively, and minimize offensive behaviour to foster supportive work environments. Further, improving psychosocial work conditions promotes healthier workplaces, leading to improved mental health and productivity in the broader society. ping country contexts
RECONFIGURING THE JOURNAL ECOLOGICAL CHAIN IN VIETNAM: AN OPEN SCIENCE–DRIVEN GOVERNANCE PERSPECTIVE
Vietnam’s scholarly journals sit at the intersection of national research evaluation, institutional capacity constraints, and a rapidly changing global publishing environment. While “open science” is often discussed through the lenses of open access or open data, its practical consequences in Vietnam are better understood by examining how it reshapes the journal ecological chain—the interconnected actors, infrastructures, and value flows that move research outputs from production to dissemination and reuse. Building on ecological-chain thinking that conceptualizes journals as part of an end-to-end knowledge system spanning producers, consumers, and “decomposers” (e.g., indexing, archiving, and publishing platforms), this paper offers a Vietnam-focused governance analysis that goes beyond descriptive mapping. We develop a conceptual framework to (i) map the Vietnamese journal ecological chain and its value exchanges, (ii) diagnose governance bottlenecks exposed by open science practices, and (iii) propose a staged, open science–driven reconfiguration strategy compatible with Vietnam’s legal, infrastructural, and academic culture conditions. The analysis highlights four governance frictions: incentive misalignment driven by index-based evaluation, fragmented platform interoperability, uneven quality and integrity assurance, and financially fragile publishing operations. We argue that sustainable transformation requires governance by design: interoperable infrastructure (DOI/ORCID/metadata), integrity-by-default standards, incentive reform aligned with responsible metrics, and shared service models that reduce duplicated costs across journals. The proposed roadmap provides actionable pathways for journals, universities, funders, and regulators to coordinate reforms while protecting local-language scholarship and strengthening Vietnam’s international publishing visibility
TOWARDS A SOCIO-CULTURAL RESTORATIVE PEACE EDUCATION (SCRPE) MODEL FOR EAST AFRICA: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS FROM FOUR POST-CONFLICT STATES
Peace education is crucial for sustainable peacebuilding in post-conflict states, yet its implementation often lacks coherence with local socio-cultural realities. In East Africa, while various approaches exist, a comprehensive framework integrating psychological, cultural, and justice-oriented dimensions is absent. This study aims to analyze peace education practices in four East African post-conflict states: Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Burundi, Rwanda, and Somalia, proposing an integrated model to address identified systemic gaps. We conducted a comparative qualitative analysis, utilizing a systematic narrative review of secondary sources, including peer-reviewed literature and NGO reports. Data were analyzed thematically, employing a priori codes from three core peacebuilding domains: Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), Indigenous Reconciliation, and Restorative Justice. The analysis reveals distinct yet unbalanced approaches: the DRC focuses on trauma-oriented SEL but lacks cultural elements; Burundi emphasizes Indigenous Reconciliation and community Restorative Justice without formal integration; Rwanda promotes national identity but suppresses grassroots dialogue; Somalia showcases organic integration at the community level, yet struggles with national coordination. Critically, no case demonstrates a balanced integration of all three pillars, creating gaps that limit transformative potential. Based on this analysis, we propose the Socio-Cultural Restorative Peace Education (SCRPE) model as a holistic framework that addresses individual healing, cultural legitimacy, and communal justice. For peace education to foster long-term social transformation in East Africa, policymakers must adopt this integrated, systemic approach
IMPLEMENTAÇÃO DE CIDADES INTELIGENTES PARA A MELHORIA DA QUALIDADE DOS SERVIÇOS PÚBLICOS: UM ESTUDO NO MUNICÍPIO DE SITUBONDO
Digital transformation through the development of smart cities has become a strategic approach to improving the quality of public services and the effectiveness of regional governance. This study aims to analyze the implementation of six dimensions of smart cities in Situbondo Regency and the factors that influence their effectiveness in improving public services. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with purposive sampling and interactive analysis, which includes data condensation, thematic categorization, and source triangulation. All dimensions of smart cities have progressed. However, a mature policy ecosystem has not yet been established. The coherence of objectives between organizations is still weak, policy instruments are not yet integrated, community digital literacy is uneven, and multi-actor collaboration is not yet stable. While smart governance and the smart economy have shown more significant improvements, the smart society and smart environment encounter challenges related to social readiness and technological limitations. This study confirms that the success of a smart city is not only determined by technological capacity, but also by policy harmonization, social readiness, system interoperability, and sustainable policy learning mechanisms as the basis for strengthening regional digital transformation
