The research has brought practical significance to administrators in domestic independent auditing firms, who need solutions and policies for improving auditors’ performance
INNOVATION THROUGH SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT AND RECONSTRUCTION: A UNIVERSITY EXPERIENCE
The manuscript describes the experience of university students enrolled in the Sustainable Development course, part of the academic programme of a higher education institution, as they develop a project to address the environmental sustainability problem of solid waste. The methodology implemented to achieve the proposed goal consisted of Project-Based Learning (PBL), through which a Technology Project (Tech. Proj.) adapted to first-year students was developed. This pedagogical approach aimed to promote innovation in the design and construction of devices that support the efficient management of solid waste. By way of illustration, a project carried out by a group of students is added. In general, the response from the young people was positive, resulting in a favourable outcome, as the students demonstrated a high degree of commitment by proposing to transform innovative ideas into practical solutions that contribute to caring for the environment and the well-being of society
CHILDREN BORN AFTER ASSISTED REPRODUCTIVE TECHNOLOGIES: EVIDENCE FROM SPEECH-LANGUAGE THERAPY PRACTICE
Assisted reproductive technologies (ART) have been increasingly used worldwide over the past decades, raising sustained interest in their potential implications for child development beyond perinatal outcomes. While medical risks associated with ART have been extensively examined, evidence regarding early functional development in real-world clinical contexts remains limited. The present study explores developmental characteristics and referral patterns among children conceived through ART in comparison with naturally conceived peers, using data derived from outpatient speech-language therapy practice. A retrospective descriptive analysis was conducted on 1,661 anonymized anamnestic records collected over a six-year period through a standardized web-based questionnaire completed by caregivers prior to developmental consultation. Children were grouped according to conception method (ART versus natural conception), and descriptive statistical methods were applied to examine demographic characteristics, referral age, developmental milestones, and parent-reported clinical information. Children conceived via ART accounted for 23.2% of the sample. In both groups, referrals were most frequent between 2 and 5 years of age and showed a consistent male predominance. ART-conceived children were referred at a slightly younger age; however, no clinically meaningful differences were identified between groups in early motor, communicative, or regulatory developmental milestones. A higher proportion of positive family history of hereditary conditions was observed in the ART group. These findings indicate that ART, as a method of conception, is not independently associated with adverse early developmental outcomes and support the use of inclusive, function-oriented developmental monitoring frameworks relevant to clinical practice and public health policy
PANAMA CLUSTERING MODEL FOR DISASTER PREPARATION AND HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE IN LATIN AMERICA
The January 2010 Haiti earthquake was a gamechanger in the humanitarian assistance management mechanisms. This event boosted a massive response of international collaboration, but limited capacity for organizing humanitarian aid collapsed the effective delivery of this cooperation. Faced by this case and the growing number of disasters, the Government of Panama proposed the establishment of the Regional Logistics Center for Humanitarian Assistance (CLRAH). The purpose of this study is to describe the operational structure, activation mechanisms, and impact of CLRAH as a clustering model of shared-use facilities driven by the country’s logistics capacity that promotes strategic alliances for an effective and timely response of humanitarian aid in Latin America. This study adopted an exploratory descriptive approach. Through the CLRAH, Panama has fostered a humanitarian ecosystem with a defined number of facilities supporting humanitarian logistics. IFRC, UNHRD, SINAPROC, and strategic partners strengthen this clustering model by centralizing common activities, sharing best practices, supporting each other’s operations, and taking advantage of economies of scale through their organic operating synergies. The pandemic and recent natural events have demonstrated the effectiveness of CLRAH, but new challenges question the need for expansion and more capacity
WORKFORCE-ORIENTED EDUCATION SYSTEMS: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT IN VIETNAM AND MALAYSIA
Human Resource Development (HRD) plays a critical role in supporting social progress, workforce readiness, and sustainable development. In emerging economies, workforce-oriented education systems, including Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), are essential for aligning skills development with labour market needs. This article examines the challenges and opportunities of HRD within workforce-oriented education systems in Vietnam and Malaysia. Using a literature-based review, the study compares national HRD strategies and workforce development approaches in both countries. The findings indicate that Malaysia demonstrates stronger education–industry alignment and skills-based training, while Vietnam continues to face challenges related to workforce readiness and skills development. The study highlights the importance of strengthening workforce-oriented education systems to enhance HRD outcomes in emerging economies
EFFICACY OF BILATERAL ADDUCTOR CANAL CATHETER FOR PAIN MANAGEMENT IN POST-TOTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT SURGERY WITH HISTORY OF LUMBAR STABILIZATION: A CASE REPORT
Postoperative pain following total knee replacement (TKR) remains a major barrier to early mobilization and optimal rehabilitation. Neuraxial anesthesia techniques such as epidural or spinal blocks are effective for analgesia but may be contraindicated in patients with prior lumbar spine surgery. This case report presents a 65-year-old female with bilateral gonarthrosis and a history of lumbar stabilization (L3-L5) who underwent bilateral TKR. Postoperative analgesia was managed using bilateral continuous adductor canal block (ACB) catheters under ultrasound guidance, supplemented by multimodal systemic analgesia. Pain scores remained low (NRS 0-1), knee range of motion improved from 0-80° to 0-100° within three days, and no motor weakness or complications were observed. The results support that bilateral continuous ACB is a safe and effective analgesic strategy for TKR in patients with contraindications to neuraxial techniques, facilitating early mobilization and rehabilitation consistent with Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols
EXAMINING THE EPISTEMOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS OF PROJECT AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT RESEARCH: METHODOLOGICAL ISSUES
The authors argue that project management lacks a single unified theory, and that projects operate in open systems where outcomes depend heavily on context. Despite this, research practice often adopts methodologies that implicitly assume closed systems and linear causality. The paper contends that the search for general cause–effect patterns tends to marginalize the particular features that shape outcomes, while exclusive focus on the particular prevents the development of shared patterns and normative recommendations. The article reviews paradigms and epistemological foundations in the field and then audits recent journal publications to examine whether researchers state and apply methodology coherently. The authors argue that project management lacks a single unified theory, and that projects operate in open systems where outcomes depend heavily on context. USE OF COMPUTER SIMULATION IN FORENSIC BIOMECHANICS
The article deals with a criminalistic experiment and the possibility of using computer modeling. The paper describes the current possibilities of using computer simulation and presents the possibility of using it in clarifying versions in the case of a specific crime. A promising method is the Virtual Crash 3 program. This is certified software that was developed for forensic engineering and biomechanical applications. This method makes it possible to simulate situations that cannot be practically realized by a real experiment with a mannequin or a living person. The paper presents one specific example. Computer simulation of human movement can very accurately clarify the probability of individual versions when assessing a person\u27s fall from a height
DETERMINING OPTIMAL STRATEGIC PATHS IN PUBLIC COMPANIES
A high level of professional qualification in the public sector requires more efficient use of human resources, which can be achieved through monitoring the number of implemented projects and new investments. Linking reward systems to achieved results represents a key factor in increasing productivity. Public companies are obliged to provide adequate products and services that are accessible to all members of the community, meet their needs, and are offered at affordable prices without discrimination against consumers. The protection of these interests is ensured through price control mechanisms, standardization of the quality of essential goods, and other regulatory measures
