    Get PDF
This research evaluates adventure tourism demand determinants in smart tourism destinations relating to smart technology use, perceived safety, cultural engagement, and innovativeness of destinations. Structural equation modeling on data from 300 adventure tourists indicates that Perceived Safety Via Smart Technologies, the Attractiveness and Innovativeness of the Destination, Engagement of Local Culture and Nature, and Digital Cultural Interpretation greatly enhance tourists\u27 beliefs of Smart Tourism Service Integration, which in turn very strongly predicts Adventure Tourism Demand. Tourist Experience Satisfaction and Perceived Value for Money were not significant predictors of their beliefs of smart service. The findings underscore the importance of functional assurances, cultural immersion, and impactful technological innovative solutions over traditional tourist perceptions of satisfaction and value, on tourist behaviour in smart tourism contexts. Overall, the study plays an essential role in advancing smart tourism theory, while also providing useful recommendations for destination managers and marketers looking to use technology-based solutions to engage in adventure tourism

CLIMATE CHANGE MEETS GEOPOLITICS: U.S. ARCTIC POLICY UNDER TRUMP THROUGH THE LENS OF OFFENSIVE REALISM

    Get PDF
The Arctic region is an intersection of strategic competition and climate change.  With the melting of glaciers in the Arctic, previously inaccessible natural resources and new sea trade routes have become accessible. Furthermore, according to data from the U.S. Geological Survey, a significant portion of the world\u27s oil and natural gas reserves are located in the Arctic. This situation has made the region not only an area of environmental vulnerability but also a strategic area. Indeed, the United States (US), particularly during Donald Trump\u27s presidency from 2017 to 2021, has significantly increased its interest in the Arctic. During this period, environmental regulations were pushed into the background, and environmental diplomacy was weakened through policies such as withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement. The main objective of this study is to examine the effects of climate change on US foreign policy in the context of the Donald Trump era and to reveal how these policies can be understood within the framework of the theory of offensive realism. Offensive realism is a theory developed by international relations theorist John Mershaimer. According to this theory, states do not merely seek to ensure their security; they are constantly engaged in the pursuit of power maximization and hegemony. In line with this, the study examined strategy documents published between 2019 and 2021 using content analysis and developed policy options for Trump\u27s second term through scenario analysis. According to the findings of the analysis, the strategy documents are consistent with the basic assumptions of offensive realism. The study concluded that the perspective of offensive realism would be dominant during Trump\u27s second term, that a balanced foreign policy was a limited possibility, and that a neighborhood-first policy was unlikely.

ENERGY DRINKS, CHILDREN’S RIGHTS, AND THE DUTY OF HEALTH PROTECTION: EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE AND REGULATORY CHALLENGES FROM A CONSUMER PROTECTION PERSPECTIVE

    Get PDF
The growing consumption of energy drinks among children and adolescents has generated increasing concern regarding health protection and the adequacy of existing regulatory frameworks. This article examines the issue from the perspective of children’s rights and consumer protection, using empirical clinical evidence as a normative foundation for legal analysis. The study draws on pediatric cases involving cardiovascular manifestations associated with energy drink consumption, including supraventricular tachycardia, extreme tachycardia, chest pain, anxiety, and transient hypertension in otherwise healthy minors. The findings reveal recurrent patterns of excessive intake, limited parental awareness, and a widespread misperception of energy drinks as harmless soft beverages, exposing a significant information asymmetry affecting hyper-vulnerable consumers. Grounded in the fundamental right to health, the principle of the integral protection of children and adolescents, and the precautionary principle, the article argues that current regulatory approaches are insufficient to prevent foreseeable health risks. It concludes that the empirical evidence supports the adoption of stricter regulatory measures, such as enhanced labeling requirements, advertising restrictions, and age-based limitations, as a means of fulfilling the State’s positive obligation to protect children from potentially harmful products

CLIMATE CHANGE FROM PREHISTORIC TIME TO THE PRESENT

Basic aim is to draw attention to most of the known influences that have as effect global warming. Why? The physical phenomenon called global warming has become a political issue that uses or rather abuses for example, the issue of increased production of carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases for economic pressures. For each of the thematic areas described further in the text, there are many publications printed and placed on www sites. To tell the htrouth each part would require the co-authorship of an expert, a narow specialist, and a more intensive analysis. Given the number of influences, this is not practically possible, and only basic key quotes are given. However, author hopes that the basic main an ONE goal stated here –i.e  to show the quantity of influences and parallel influence of this  factors on global warming – will be fulfilled. The large number of effects that have a real or probable significant influence on global warming and and vice versa the fact, how few of these effects are actually evaluated in scientific texts is surprising. It seeems also, that in case of climate change, cause and effect are often confused by authors. Quote:Greenhouse warming theory is probably rapidly becoming the most expensive mistake ever made in the history of science, economically, politically, and environmentally

THE EFFECT OF SERVICE EXPERIENCE AND PERCEIVED VALUE ON PATIENT SATISFACTION AT PELAMONIA HOSPITAL, MAKASSAR

    Get PDF
Patient satisfaction is a critical indicator of hospital service quality and is shaped by patients’ service experience and perceived value; however, satisfaction surveys conducted at Pelamonia Hospital, Makassar, in 2022–2023 reported levels of 87.24% and 89.87%, respectively, which remain below the Indonesian Ministry of Health benchmark of 90%, underscoring the need for empirical investigation. This study aimed to examine the influence of service experience and perceived value on patient satisfaction in the inpatient unit of Pelamonia Hospital. A quantitative cross-sectional observational design was employed, involving 237 respondents selected through purposive sampling, with data analyzed using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate logistic regression techniques in SPSS. The results revealed that service experience, particularly the mechanic clues dimension, significantly influenced patient satisfaction (p < .001), while perceived value, especially the emotional value dimension, also showed a significant positive effect on satisfaction (p < .001). In conclusion, both service experience and perceived value are key determinants of patient satisfaction in the inpatient setting, with the mechanic clues dimension emerging as the most influential predictor (β = 3.166, p < .001; OR = 23.711), highlighting the pivotal role of the hospital’s physical and environmental attributes in shaping patients’ satisfaction at Pelamonia Hospital

PUBLIC SERVICE INNOVATION STUDY AT THE INVESTMENT AND ONE-STOP INTEGRATED SERVICE OFFICE OF KENDARI CITY AND KONAWE REGENCY

    Get PDF
This study aims to comparatively analyze the processes, sustainability, and models of public service innovation at the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service Offices (DPMPTSP) in Kendari City and Konawe Regency. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model developed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The findings reveal that Kendari City adopts a top-down innovation strategy driven by regulatory compliance and digital system integration, exemplified by OSS RBA and Sicantik Cloud. In contrast, Konawe Regency pursues need-based innovation through adaptive and participatory approaches. Innovation sustainability in both regions is supported by integrated management systems, progressive policies, transformational leadership, community involvement, and strengthened resource capacity. The identified innovation models comprise five categories: product, process, policy, service method, and system innovations, as conceptualized by Efendi et al. (2022). The study focuses on the implementation of the Public Service Mall (MPP) as the central service platform in both areas. These findings contribute to the theoretical development of public sector innovation in local contexts and offer practical insights for regional governments in designing inclusive, efficient, and sustainable innovation strategies

THE EFFECT OF REFUSING TO PRODUCE DOCUMENTS IN SUPPLY CONTRACT DISPUTES: A COMPARATIVE STUDY BETWEEN EGYPTIAN AND OMANI LAW

    Get PDF
This article addresses an evidentiary imbalance that frequently shapes commercial supply disputes in Egypt and Oman: the dispositive documents are often held by one party, which may refuse production. The topic is selected because current practice shows that the ordinary allocation of the burden of proof can enable strategic non-disclosure and distort outcomes. The study identifies a gap in Arabic comparative writing, where good faith in contractual performance is commonly discussed as a substantive principle, while the procedural consequences of documentary non-cooperation are treated separately. The article proceeds on two linked hypotheses. First, good faith in performance (Egyptian Civil Code, art 148; Omani Civil Transactions Law, art 156) entails a duty of documentary cooperation in supply relationships. Second, unjustified refusal to produce a dispositive document may warrant a controlled judicial presumption and may also support contractual fault where the refusal deprives the other party of a serious chance to prove its claim. Methodologically, the study uses doctrinal legal analysis and an integrated comparison of statutory provisions and selected judicial approaches in both systems. No empirical instruments or statistical data are used. The study’s results are operational. It formulates a three-part test for unjustified refusal (control, dispositive relevance, absence of legitimate justification). It also proposes a staged reasoning method for courts to draw the presumption while safeguarding the right of defence and legitimate confidentiality. The article concludes with targeted recommendations, including clearer procedural standards and calibrated effects for refusal, especially in Egyptian law

MASS MEDIA AS AN AGRICULTURAL INFORMATION SOURCE FOR FARMERS IN PUNJAB, PAKISTAN: AN EFFECTIVENESS ANALYSIS ACROSS AGRO-ECOLOGICAL REGIONS

    Get PDF
This research aims to investigate the effectiveness of mass media as a source of agricultural information for farmers across the agro-ecological regions of Punjab, Pakistan. The study was conducted in five purposively selected agro-ecological zones of the province. Data were collected from 500 randomly selected respondents through face-to-face interviews using an interview schedule and analyzed using SPSS. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for the interpretation of data. Respondents across different agro-ecological zones showed significant variation in the use of different mass media information sources. This has been concluded that different mass media information sources serve diverse information needs of farmers. Findings concluded that mass media shows significant effectiveness in various aspects of agricultural development, particularly in increasing farm yield, income, and knowledge, improving farmer confidence, and enhancing linkages with other stakeholders. The role of mass media in enhancing agricultural practices varies significantly by agro-ecological regions. The regression model significantly predicted the effectiveness of mass media information sources (R² = 0.742, p < 0.001), with frequency of use, usefulness, relevancy of information received, and time of usage making statistically significant positive predictors. These findings recommended that there is a need to improve rural digital infrastructure, develop region-specific and accessible content, increase media diversity and frequency, and promote digital literacy among farmers. Additionally, fostering collaboration with agricultural institutions, leveraging mobile platforms, and using a multi-channel communication approach can significantly improve the reach, relevance, and adoption of agricultural information by the farmers

    Get PDF
Objectıve: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of posture and balance characteristics on lower extremity and core strength ratios in sedentary individuals aged 30–50 years. Methods: A total of 30 sedentary individuals (15 females and 15 males) aged between 30 and 50 years voluntarily participated in the study. Participants with any physical or metabolic disorders or high physical activity levels were excluded. Physical measurements included height, body weight, and body mass index. Dynamic posture was assessed using overhead squat and single-leg squat analyses. Maximal isometric strength of the lower extremity and core region (flexion, extension, and lateral flexion) was measured using Leg-Check and Back-Check devices. Balance performance was evaluated using the Balance-Check system. Statistical analyses were conducted using SPSS 26. Independent samples t-test and Pearson correlation analysis were applied, with significance set at p < 0.05. Results: Male participants exhibited significantly greater height, body weight, and body mass index compared to females (p < 0.05), whereas female participants demonstrated significantly higher core strength ratios (p = 0.037). Significant correlations were identified between knee valgus movement and balance performance in both genders. Additionally, notable relationships were observed between postural deviations, balance scores, and strength ratios of the lower extremity and core region. Conclusion: The findings suggest that postural deviations, particularly inward knee movement and excessive lumbar lordosis, may negatively influence balance and lower extremity mechanics in sedentary individuals. These results highlight the importance of postural assessment and targeted strength interventions in sedentary populations
