PLA/PBAT/ENR TERNARY BLENDS: HEAT DISTORTION TEMPERATURE, OXYGEN TRANSMISSION RATE AND WATER VAPOR TRANSMISSION RATE

    No full text
The aim of this research was to study the heat distortion temperature, oxygen transmission rate and water vapor transmission rate of PLA/PBAT/ENR ternary blends. Climate change, pollution, and depletion of natural resources are pressing global environmental issues. As the urgency of these issues increases, the need for sustainable alternatives becomes more apparent. Hence, the biodegradable plastics still have a limitation, i.e. high cost. This research studied methods of lowering the cost of biodegradable plastic and of improving its properties by using epoxidized natural rubber as another polymer of polymer blends. Then, ternary blends of poly (lactic acid), epoxidized natural rubber and poly (butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) were investigated and prepared by using twin-screw extruder, followed by use of a blown film extruder to fabricate biodegradable films.  The proportion of ENR in the ternary blends was fixed at 10 wt%, with the remainder being PLA and PBAT. Moreover, the heat distortion temperature, oxygen gas transmission rate, and water vapor transmission rate were investigated

THE NEXUS OF ECONOMIC GROWTH AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP: TESTING REVERSE CAUSALITY IN BRICS COUNTRIES (2001–2023)

    No full text
This paper examines the dynamic link between economic growth and entrepreneurship in the BRICS nations during the period 2001-2023, with a special focus on reverse causality from economic growth to entrepreneurship. Although the majority of the literature on the topic has viewed entrepreneurship as the engine of economic growth, relatively less attention has been paid to the fact that economic growth may, in turn, fuel entrepreneurship by unlocking market opportunities, enhancing financial and human capital, and building institutional capacity. This paper uses a balanced macro-panel dataset of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa and applies standard panel models of economic growth and entrepreneurship together with dynamic econometric models that account for heterogeneity, persistence, and cross-sectional dependence. Panel causality tests are employed to determine the nature of causality between economic growth and entrepreneurship. The results of this study offer new evidence on the fact that economic growth has a significant role to play in determining the dynamics of entrepreneurship in emerging economies, although feedback effects are conditional in nature

WEAVING CULTURE INTO THE CITY: DEVELOPING SUSTAINABLE PUBLIC SPACES IN MOSCOW

    No full text
The rapid expansion of cities often leads to generic, identity-poor public spaces in peripheral and mid-ring districts, undermining social sustainability and community cohesion. This study explores the integration of intangible cultural heritage as a tool for creating more meaningful and sustainable urban environments. This research aims to develop and test a methodology for transposing the rich symbolic language of traditional Azerbaijani carpet ornaments into the architectural and landscape design of public spaces near metro stations in Moscow. The research employed a mixed-methods approach: ethnographic fieldwork at the National Carpet Museum in Baku to decode the semantics of recurring motifs (e.g., \u27Buta,\u27 \u27Tree of Life\u27); urban analysis to identify suitable underutilized sites near metro stations based on functional balance and pedestrian accessibility metrics; experimental design by architecture students to apply these motifs to facades and public squares. The study resulted in a portfolio of design proposals that demonstrate a viable model for ‘cultural transposition.’ The motifs provided a framework for organizing space, creating rhythm, and embedding narratives, moving beyond mere decoration to inform layout and function. Sites near stations like Belayevo and Babushkinskaya were identified as high-potential candidates for such interventions. The research concludes that traditional ornaments can serve as a powerful database for sustainable urban design, fostering place identity and cultural connectivity. This approach offers a transferable model for leveraging specific cultural heritage to address the global challenge of sustainable and culturally sensitive urban development, contributing to the sustainable cities and communities’ goals

PERSPECTIVES ON CULTURAL HERITAGE, PLACE, AND MEANING WITHIN HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL GEOGRAPHY

    No full text
For a long time, cultural heritage studies have been shaped by an object-oriented approach, treating heritage in abstraction from its spatial context. This has led to the neglect of the social and lived dimensions of heritage. Drawing upon literature from cultural history and geography, this study aims to re-evaluate this gap in heritage studies through a critical perspective. It argues that space is not merely a passive background but plays a constitutive role in the attribution of meaning to cultural heritage. In this context, the study is developed around three fundamental axes: \u27place\u27, \u27social memory\u27, and \u27power\u27. It offers a holistic framework that conceptualizes cultural heritage not as a static collection of objects, but as a dynamic, spatial, and historical process continuously reproduced through human experience, practices of collective remembrance, and social negotiations. In Divan poetry, mazmuns conventional poetic motifs through which meanings related to the beloved are expressed implicitly hold a significant place in poetic expression. In classical poetry, the kāmet (stature) mazmun is a meaningful symbol used to depict the beloved’s graceful and impressive height. While describing the beloved’s stature, poets employed words such as kadd, kāmet, and endam, articulating it artistically through various similes. In Divan poetry, the beloved’s height is generally associated with images such as the cypress and the Tuba tree in order to emphasize elegance and tallness. Bâkî, one of the foremost classical Turkish poets of the sixteenth century, is a distinguished literary figure known in Turkish literature by the title “Sultan of Poets.” In this study, Bâkî’s Divan, written during the peak period of classical poetry, has been used as the primary source. The scope of this research is limited to the evaluation of the kāmet mazmun as it appears in Bâkî’s Divan. Based on selected poems by Bâkî, this study aims to contribute to the scholarly literature by interpreting the kāmet mazmun an indicator of the beloved’s beauty from the poet’s perspective

    No full text
The accelerated population growth in the Querétaro Metropolitan Area has saturated its road infrastructure, generating mobility challenges that particularly affect university students as key agents of urban transformation. This study analyzes the dynamics of migration, transportation, and mobility of this group to propose effective urban technology management guideline. A mixed-methods approach was employed and inductive qualitative phase to construct a conceptual semantic network, followed by a descriptive quantitative cross-sectional phase with a probabilistic sample of 483 students from the Facultad de Contaduría y Administración at the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro (UAQ), 2024-1 period. Results reveal a “feminization of mobility” (62% women, 52% dependent on public transportation due to perceived insecurity and residential proximity), a “technological paradox” (micro-mobility on bicycles/scooters only 2% despite being digital natives, due to infrastructure/economic barriers), and internal migration (30%) reconfiguring services demand. Technology management must prioritize safety and sustainability through three strategic guidelines: Digitization for safety and gender perspective, comprehensive housing and mobility platforms, technological incentives for micro-mobility. These drive a predictive, inclusive, and sustainable model of smart urban mobility

This study investigated the predictive potency of teachers’ assessment practices on secondary school students’ academic achievement in Mathematics in the Nsukka Education Zone, Enugu State, Nigeria. A correlational survey research design was adopted. A sample size of 342 Senor Secondary Two (SS II) Mathematics students in Nsukka education zone was used for the study. Teachers’ Assessment Practice Questionnaire (TAPQ) and Mathematics Achievement Test (MAT) were used for data collection. Reliability coefficients of 0.93 and 0.91 were obtained for TAPQ and MAT respectively. Linear regression analysis was used to answer research questions 1-5 while research questions 6-7 was answered using multiple regression analysis. Regression t-test was used to test hypotheses 1-5, while hypotheses 6 was tested using regression ANOVA. All hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that formative assessment predicted 38.4%, diagnostic assessment predicted 37.1%, peer-assessment predicted 32%, and self-assessment predicted 26.4% of the variation in students’ academic achievement. Summative assessment accounted for 5.2% of the variance. Importantly, the combined effect of all assessment practices jointly predicted 65.7% of students’ achievement, indicating a significant and substantial influence of teachers’ assessment practices on Mathematics achievement. The study concludes that assessment practices, particularly when used in combination, play a critical role in enhancing students’ understanding, engagement, and learning outcomes in Mathematics. The study recommends that teachers adopt an integrated approach to assessment by combining formative, summative, diagnostic, self-, and peer-assessment strategies, and that educational authority provide professional development and policy support to strengthen the effective implementation of these practices. The findings highlight the importance of diverse and continuous assessment strategies as tools for improving academic achievement in secondary school Mathematics
