Efficacy of the ECHOMANTRA online intervention to support recovery from anorexia nervosa in adult patients: study protocol of a randomized controlled multi-center trial
Background
Poor quality of life in adults with anorexia nervosa (AN) and persistent high rates of readmission highlight the necessity of developing interventions to optimize treatment outcomes. ECHOMANTRA is a novel online intervention based on interventions for carers (Experienced Carers Helping Others, ECHO) and patients (Maudsley Model of Anorexia Nervosa Treatment for Adults, MANTRA) with anorexia nervosa. The objective of this paper is to describe the study protocol of a randomized control trial (RCT) aimed at evaluating the efficacy of an adaptation of the ECHOMANTRA for adults AN inpatients and outpatients, and their carers, to be implemented as an add-on to treatment-as-usual (TAU).
Methods
In a multi − center pilot randomized controlled trial (RCT), 148 adult AN patients, and their carers, will be randomized to receive treatment as usual (TAU) or TAU plus ECHOMANTRA. Assessments will take place at baseline (T0), post-intervention (2-month) (T1), 6-month follow-up (T2), and 12-month follow-up (T3). Primary outcomes will be eating disorder psychopathology and psychological well-being. For carers, outcome variables will include psychological well-being, accommodation and enabling behaviors, expressed emotion, illness burden, quality of life and care skills.
Discussion
This study will provide evidence of the efficacy of this novel, online and protocolized intervention in facilitating the recovery of these patients
Brand trust of local and digital native newspapers: between business models and marketing contents
The subject of this research focuses on the business models that could be able to make a newspaper economically viable taking into account the opportunities of digital that clash with another aspect: the low trust of readers in the media and especially in online media. This exploratory, comparative and qualitative study intends to analyze the differences between local newspapers and digital natives in Spain, evaluating the choice of business models and considering how to build a relationship of trust and transparency with readers. The results of the study show that newspapers do not always take full advantage of the various digital opportunities and that the future challenges of journalism range from the transparency of branded content to the request for donations
Internet addiction and cyberbullying in spanish vocational training students
Introduction. The incursion of the internet has generated a new context of socialization and materialization of bullying. Internet addiction refers to the inability not to use or set limits to the use of the Internet, through the loss of control over its use and dependence. Method. A non-experimental, descriptive-correlational design was used to analyze the relationship between Internet addiction, cyberbullying, and socio-demographic factors in Spanish Vocational Training students. Non-probabilistic convenience sampling was used to select a sample of 1.070 students from 13 educational centers in 6 Spanish Autonomous Communities from different areas. A self-administered questionnaire was applied, constructed from the Likert scale to assess Internet addiction and the Spanish version of the European Cyberbullying Intervention Project Questionnaire. For data analysis, parametric analyses were carried out and Pearson's correlation coefficient was calculated between the scales applied. Results. The results showed that the levels of internet addiction are high and the levels of cyberbullying are medium; Likewise, a positive correlation was identified between both scales. Conclusions. The development of emotional and social skills skills may appear as protective factors to prevent both internet addiction and cyberviolence

Digital twins applied to U‐Space: new challenges for civil law

Given this situation, it is essential to analyze the protection that civil law provides to the vast amount of personal data processed in this new virtual environment, interconnectivity failures, the phenomenon of hacking, as well as the risks posed by the use of artificial intelligence in these twin ecosystems

Bayesian Morphometric Analysis for Archaeological Seed Identification: Phoenix (Arecaceae) Palms from the Canary Islands (Spain)
The taxonomic complexity of Phoenix palms in the Canary Islands, where multiple
morphotypes representing at least four taxa currently exist, presents significant challenges
for archaeobotanical identification. We developed a Bayesian probabilistic framework
to identify archaeological Phoenix seeds within the context of genus-wide morphological
diversity. Our analysis incorporated thousands of specimens including modern reference collections, archaeological materials from pre-Hispanic sites in Gran Canaria and La
Gomera (3–16th centuries CE), and fossil remains. We recorded quantitative measurements
and qualitative characteristics for each specimen. To understand taphonomic effects, we
conducted experimental carbonization of modern P. canariensis seeds and documented the
resulting morphological alterations. We performed a hierarchical cluster analysis using
Ward’s minimum variance method and calculated taxonomic assignment probabilities
for archaeological specimens using Bayesian inference, where likelihood was derived
from taxon proportions within assigned clusters. The results indicated a high probability (0.69–1.00) that the archaeological specimens belong to P. canariensis var. canariensis,
with no evidence for P. dactylifera presence. These findings provide critical insights into
pre-Hispanic exploitation of Phoenix palms, particularly the endemic P. canariensis, which
served as a vital resource, providing food, fiber, and construction materials. Our methodological approach offers a robust framework for addressing taxonomic uncertainty in
archaeobotanical research while enhancing understanding of historical palm biogeography
and resource use patterns in the Canary Islands
Psychosocial work environment beyond WEIRD: meta-analytic and psychometric evidence on the Job Content Questionnaire
Background: The psychosocial work environment significantly impacts employee well-being and performance. Among the most recognized models for assessing psychosocial risk factors is the Job Demand-Control-Support (JDCS) model, which posits that psychological demands, job control, and social support are core determinants of work-related stress. Although extensively studied, research on its measurement tools—particularly the Job Content Questionnaire (JCQ)—has been disproportionately conducted in WEIRD countries, raising questions about cross-cultural validity.
Objective: This study aimed to (I) evaluate the reliability of JCQ dimensions across cultures through a meta-analytic approach and (II) validate a 15-item short version of the JCQ in a large and culturally distinctive Spanish sample.
Methods: A meta-analysis of 21 studies (N = 21,732) from WEIRD and non-WEIRD countries assessed the internal consistency of psychological demands and job control dimensions. Additionally, an empirical validation was conducted with 860 Spanish workers using exploratory structural equation modeling (ESEM) to test factorial structure, reliability, and measurement invariance across gender, job level, and educational background.
Results: Meta-analytic results showed moderate to high internal consistency for job control (α = 0.737) and psychological demands (α = 0.603), with higher reliability in WEIRD populations for job control. The Spanish validation supported a four-factor ESEM model with excellent fit and invariance across demographic groups. All dimensions showed strong composite reliability and convergent validity.
Conclusion: This research confirms the robustness of the JCQ’s core constructs and supports the use of a concise, psychometrically sound version of the instrument across diverse sociocultural contexts. It also advances equitable psychometric practices by bridging WEIRD and non-WEIRD research efforts
