SS-ESC: a spectral subtraction denoising based deep network model on environmental sound classification

    No full text
Environmental Sound Classification (ESC), also referred as Sound Event Classification, is an essential part of many speech processing applications in terms of of separating background audio from original signal. By the recent developments in deep learning area, studies related to the ESC area have also been improved significiantly by the researchers. Because the nature of digital sound signals, the ESC was mostly developed using manually extracted one dimensional (1D) so far. In this paper, a novel ESC pipeline which uses spectral subtraction denoising as a preliminary stage was proposed based on deep learning architectures. The well-known deep learning architectures which are GoogLeNet, AlexNet, ShuffleNet, SqueezeNet and ResNet-18 were run over ESC problem by using ESC-10 benchmark dataset. Log-mel spectrogram images were preferred as feature matrices for mentioned networks. The results showed that the proposed SS-ESC model achieved the best results and outperformed many state-of-the-art methods with a test accuracy of 99.17% for the ESC-10 by the help of the AlexNet. These findings significiantly proved that the spectral subtraction denoising can contribute to the environmental sound classification problem in leveraging classification accuracy when it is used as a preliminary stage

Hydrothermal co-carbonization of hazelnut and pistachio shells to hydrochar as potential energy source: Synergistic effects of process parameters on hydrochar characteristics

    No full text
The synergistic effects of co-hydrothermal carbonization (co-HTC) of hazelnut and pistachio shells (HS and PS) were aimed to explore and the impacts of blending ratio of feedstocks and retention time on hydrochar characteristics were studied in detail. A remarkable synergistic increment revealed in terms of the mass yield, energy content, and carbon and nitrogen retentions. The higher energy parameters of co-hydrochars showed that coHTC application upgraded the fuel quality of the product. The support of co-HTC process for development of aromaticity and surface enriched with oxygenated functional groups was verified with FTIR spectrum. Anionic and cationic dye adsorptions were conducted to test the removal ability of both single and co-hydrochars. The possible adsorption mechanisms of the dyes were elucidated. This comprehensive research demonstrated that coHTC of HS and PS could be a promising pathway for designing high-performance products for energy and environmental fields

This thesis aims to examine the transformations in labor structure and industrial relations caused by the Industrial Revolution and to uncover the historical foundations of modern labor rights. The Industrial Revolution, which began in England in the late 18th century and rapidly spread across Europe and beyond, drastically altered the means of production while also giving rise to a new social class—the working class. During this transformation, workers faced long working hours, low wages, unsafe working conditions, and a lack of union representation, leading to a socio-political environment centered around labor-based struggle. The study explores the relationship between the socio-economic conditions of the period and labor rights from a historical-sociological perspective, with a focus on England, France, Germany, and other industrialized nations. Key issues such as child labor, women's labor, the right to strike, unionization, social security systems, and working hours are addressed in detail. The thesis argues that the Industrial Revolution was not merely a technical shift, but a structural transformation in labor regimes, laying the groundwork for labor law and welfare state practices. Through historical document analysis and comparative legal methods, the thesis examines the evolution of labor rights into universal legal norms. Early labor legislation, the emergence of trade union movements, and the role of international organizations such as the International Labour Organization (ILO) are discussed extensively. In conclusion, the Industrial Revolution is evaluated as both a foundational moment and a set of challenging conditions in the historical development of labor rights. This study aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the rights-based transformation of labor

    No full text
This study aimed to compare the efficiency of different green extraction methods for obtaining bioactive compounds from the roots of Rheum cordatum Losinsk and to evaluate their antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. The presence of some important phytochemicals in the extracts obtained using ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE), subcritical ethanol extraction (Sbc-EtOH), and supercritical CO2 (ScCO2) extraction was determined by LC-MS/MS, and their antioxidant and antimicrobial properties were examined against Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Escherichia coli. The goal was to determine the optimal extraction conditions that maximize the yield of bioactive compounds while preserving their biological properties. Different pressures (100 bar and 400 bar) were tested in UAE extraction, different solvents and times were tested in Sbc-EtOH extraction, and different pressures were tested in ScCO2 extraction. Most of the 53 important phenolic compounds have been extracted using the ScCO2 extraction method, either exclusively or in the highest amounts. It has been observed that more and higher amounts of phenolic compounds were extracted at lower pressure. The highest antioxidant activity was exhibited by the ScCO2 extracts. Additionally, the ScCO2-100 extract obtained at 100 bar showed strong antimicrobial activity, with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) ranging from 31.25 to 250 μg/mL. Gallic acid, epicatechin gallate, epigallocatechin gallate, and catechin were found in extracts. Additionally, molecular docking studies against the 1QWZ, 2ANQ, 3H77, and 6QXS proteins revealed that epicatechin exhibited docking scores of −6.127, −9.479, −5.836, and −7.067 kcal/mol, respectively
