Get PDFPhilip ScharperFür den wissenden Dritte-Welt-Interessenten gehörte es in den letzten Jahren zur Pflicht, bei der Frankfurter Buchmesse auch den Stand von Orbis Books zu besuchen. Dort fand er dann Philip Scharper mit seiner FrauSarah und Mitarbeitern- wenn Philip nicht selbst unterwegs war, um sich vor allem bei den Ausstellern aus den Dritte-Welt-Ländern zu orientieren. Mit der Buchmesse 1984 verabschiedete er sich, um in den verdienten Ruhestand zu gehen, der sicher ftir ihn kein "Ruhe-stand" geworden wäre. Schon am 5. Mai 1985 ist er nach kurzer Krankheit im Alter von nur 65 Jahren in North Tarrytown N. Y gestorben.

Denn verantwortlich für den Zustand und das Interieur dieser Herbergen sind, \u27abgesehen von den Kirchen mit ihren Gottesdienst- und Andachtsangeboten, vor allem die Fachredaktionen im Funk. (...) English How do the editors working in the religious departments of two German televisionchannels (A. R. D. and Z. D. F.) themselves see and understand their journalistic role? This was the basic question of a study based on the respective literature and also on personal nterviews. The results show that there is indeed a specific own convtctwn of the editors,who are of course expressed by them in different ways. The following are some of the essential headings for their work according to their own understanding: Information, Proclamation, Church, Representation, Assistance and the awareness of the vital responsibilities in the life of society and man. Also the fact of working in a public service system with certain independency from the official Church give a special sense for responsibility towards the roJe of the media in public life and public opinion. As for the programme content of the productions of the religious departments in the past decades, the part of the big Churches diminished in favour of a more immediate own concept to serve the religious and existential dimensions of human life at large.

Get PDFIn Rußland war die Presse eine Schöpfung des Staates. Sie wurde bestimmt von der Politik der Zaren. Zensur wurde ausgeübt, Verbote wurden verhängt. Nach 1865 wurde die Zensur gemildert. 1905 versprach der Zar Freiheit des Gewissens und der Rede, doch wurde keine volle Pressefreiheit gewährt. Die Entwicklung der Massenmedien in Rußland, der UdSSR, wird mitbestimmt durch die Größe des Landes, das elf Zeitzonen um faßt. Ferner leben auf dem Territorium mehr als 100 Nationalitäten und Völkerschaften. (...) English The Soviel media system was created by Lenin and is developed by Stalin. The successors did not alter basically this system. The mass media are media for mass information and mass propaganda. As such they are instruments in the hands of the Party for the direction and education of the citizens. The total nurober of newspapers, periodicals, radio and television stations is impressive. Press and radio reach practically every citizen, the TV about 80% of the population. The mass mediaarenot only controlled but also directed and of course censored. The citizens are protected from foreign news. Despile interference they however can receive some foreign broadcasts. Religious publications have a very smallcirculation indeed, but are also censored.

Man will become alienated, questioning everything. The third millenium will not be the millenium of man without religion, but of man as a religious nomad. Christian living must bear witness to the coming of the Kingdom of God. This task is to be undertaken by all Christian Churches working together. Christians should speak with one voice. Seit eh und je kennen wir Journalisten-Codes als Normenkataloge für die publizistische Praxis. Ihre Begründung fanden sie meist im sittlichen Bewußtsein. Die Zeitung soll „all the news that\u27s fit to print" geben. Den meisten Journalisten war zum Thema „publizistische Normen" nur Scotts Faustregel „Comment is free, but facts are sacred" gegenwärtig. (...) English Henk Prakke taught Communications at the University of Münster from 1960 to 1969. He himself contributed in !arge measure to the reform in overcoming the old „Zeitungswissenschaft" (Journalism) which had been determined by fixed norms, and so helped the progress towards a neutral and rather positivistic science of Communications according to Amcrican modcls. He now raises the question of the importance of stable criteria in the process of Social Communications. He is prompted to ask this question by the publication of a South African scholar, Petrus Gerhardus Snyman („Pers en Leser"2). Snyman strives to present a Christian orientated ethic of the Press. His deliberations are based on the teachings of Calvin. He underlines the uniqueness of man as the originator and user of the Press. Prakke welcomes these arguments as countercharges in a time where only the „new" seems to carry weight.

Kommunikationsprobleme der Synoden neuen Typs
Get PDFDie römisch-katholischen Kirchen mehrerer Länder Mitteleuropas stehen im Zeichen nachkonziliarer Synoden. Ihr gemeinsames inhaltliches Merkmal ist das Bestreben, Ergebnisse des Zweiten Vatikanischen Konzils in die kirchliche, insbesondere in die pastorale Wirklichkeit der verschiedenen Nationen umzusetzen; ihr gemeinsames formales Kennzeichen ist die mehr oder weniger geschickt konstruierte Zusammenführung aller (eigentlich synodenberechtigten) Diözesen innerhalb eines Staates zu einem gemeinsamen Vorgang, der weder rechtlich noch in seinem Image den Charakter eines Nationalkonzils annehmen soll. Nach dem seit geraumer Zeit abgeschlossenen Pastoralkonzil der Niederländer haben Deutschland (West) seine „Gemeinsame Synode der Bistümer in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland", Deutschland (Ost) seine „Pastoralsynode der Jurisdiktionsbezirke in der DDR", die Schweiz ihre „Synode 72", Österreich seinen „Synodalen Vorgang" und Luxemburg - hier decken sich die StaatsundDiözesangrenze - seine Diözesansynode beginnen lassen. (...) English After the II Vatican Council, national synods in the various countries of Europe (Netherlands, West Germany, East Germany, Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland) have been started. The main idea was to transpose the Council\u27s findings into the pastoral needs of the different countries. Most of these synods however failed to gain the expected reaction. In trying to search for the causes of such failure it is good to look into the communications structure of these synods. The author studied this und er fivc aspects: the communication among members of the synods, the communication of the synod with the official Church, the communication of the synod with the average Catholic, and the communication between the synod and society and vice versa. In his study thc author discovered a fundamental, structural and accidental deficiency. In 8 sentenccs he tries to define the communication difficulties he observed. Essentially, he says the synod speaks too much in the language of the intellegentsia and not enough of the ordinary man\u27s. Difficulties arise in creating opinions because the synods refrain from parliamentarian groupings.
