    Didactic proposal for determining the density of a liquid

    This article proposes an alternative didactic methodology to determine the density of a liquid using the relationship between the mass of a body and its submerged height. An experiment is performed by placing a floating wooden cube in a transparent fish tank with water. Copper coins of equal mass are added to increase the total mass of the body, and the submerged height is measured with a tape measure. Although no direct proportionality was found between mass and submerged height according to the theoretical model, a linear relationship was observed, influenced mainly by the absorption of water in the wooden cube

    Conservation of seed sources of commercially valuable forest species in the Mútile forest

    In Ecuador there are limited efforts to establish seed sources for the production of reproductive genetic material of native forest species capable of generating quality production in a timely manner. The species of the study were selected from the remaining forest of the Mútile Tropical Botanical Garden, which due to its conservation status has species of commercial value. Currently, the use of reproductive material of proven genetic quality in native forest species is limited. The availability of qualified seed sources is the first step in genetic improvement for the production of quality reproductive material. The objective of this work is to contribute to the conservation of seed sources of native forest species of commercial value that meet the phenotypic, phytosanitary and dasometric conditions acceptable for the development of forest genetic improvement programs. Three seed sources of commercially valuable species were established: laurel (Cordia alliodora), guachapelí (Pseudosamanea guachapele) and Fernán Sánchez (Triplaris cumingiana), consisting of 114 trees on 20 hectares. Phenotypic, phytosanitary and dasometric characteristics of the trees were evaluated. The phenotypic evaluation showed that 73 trees achieved a rating of Excellent Trees and 41 trees have a rating of Good Trees. The laurel species has the highest number of trees evaluated (42 individuals), followed by guachapelí (38 trees) and Fernán Sánchez (34 individuals).     Development of wave technology as an energy efficiency mechanism in Ecuador: Esmeraldas case study

    In recent years, technologies based on the use of renewable alternative energies have been incorporated into different activities in productive sectors, becoming a viable alternative to reduce energy consumption and contribute to the environmental impact, generating clean and non-polluting energies; one of them being wave energy, which takes advantage of the movement of the waves to receive and retain the energy contained in them, transforming it through electromagnetic induction processes into electrical energy. For this reason, it was proposed in this research to develop a proposal for the development of wave energy technology as a mechanism for energy efficiency in the coastal area of the canton of Esmeraldas, Ecuador. For this purpose, a study based on applied research was established because it is based on solving a specific problem or specific approach, focusing on the search and consolidation of knowledge for its application and, therefore, for the enrichment of cultural and scientific development. Among the conclusions identified during the analysis of the energy potential of waves, it was found that there are favorable results in the canton of Esmeraldas as a possible means of generating alternative energy from the sea, presenting the necessary environmental parameters for capturing energy from wave characteristics such as the average annual wave height, the constant period of the wave, the density of sea water and the average speed, being a sustainable alternative for the supply of electricity in the coastal area of the canton of Esmeraldas, Ecuador

    Optimization of the manufacturing process by 3D printing of the glass lift handle in Chevrolet Aveo Family

    The objective of this research is to provide an alternative solution through 3D printing of the handle of the glass elevator of the Chevrolet Aveo vehicle, which was simulated and evaluated in Inspire software where its mechanical properties were verified prior to printing. The 3D printing process was performed, and the weights of the original and optimized handle were compared with Inspire and Simsolid software, respectively. In addition, the displacements, safety factor, and deformation analysis of the original and optimized handle were compared. The study was based on the multi-criteria and COPRAS methods, to compare materials selected as the best alternatives to replace the original (PLA, PC and PVC). The results showed that the most suitable material to replace the original is PLA because it has excellent mechanical and physical characteristics. Through Inspire it was possible to change the original design of the handle, obtaining an optimized proposal with a 2.7% lower weight, in addition, the 3D printing time is reduced by 8.3% compared to the original model. With the present study it can be mentioned that the PLA alternative material is ideal to replace the original ABC-PC, and the benefits of the analysis contribute to have an alternative to industrial production in the world of vehicles

    Evaluation of the effect of biofertilizer application on primary production in pennisetum grasses (purple king grass and iniap 811), at 3 harvesting ages

    The present research was carried out to evaluate the effect of the addition of two levels of biofertilizer on the production of two cut grasses INIAP-811 and King Grass Morado, at 30 - 45 and 60 days of age. The three treatments were distributed in a randomized block experimental design and the variables were plant height, leaf/stem ratio, biomass production and nutritional quality. The results obtained for plant height were for King Grass at T3 with 243.2 cm, and for INIAP-811 at T2 with 193.13 cm, both at 60 days of age. In the protein variable, 16.88% was obtained at 30 days for T2 of the Purple King Grass, with INIAP-811 grass, the T3 treatment with 16.31% at 30 days of age. In the variable biomass production at 60 days of age, with 47.40 kg/m2 , the T2 for King Grass Morado, for INIAP-811, about 31.50 kg/m2 also at 60 days. In the leaf-to-stem ratio, T3 obtained 3.1:1 for King Grass Morado, while INIAP-811 obtained 2.05:1, both at 30 days of age. Based on the results obtained, we conclude that harvests at 45 and 60 days of age, plus the application of a biofertilizer significantly influences the agronomic and nutritional characteristics of the grass

    RGB free colorimeter for sensing and sorting of pigmented spheres

    The present work shows the design, development and testing of a first prototype system for classifying color pigmented spherical objects. The objective is the analysis of efficiency and error that digital photoelectric devices can have. Based on the detection of color patterns called RGB model (Red, Green & Blue) the system is composed of a digital color detector sensor TCS3472 controlled by an open source electronic platform Arduino. The ATMega328P microcontroller processes the data obtained by the sensor, which then executes the actions responsible for moving the servomotor that controls the selector mechanism which, in turn, consists of an access and output channel to three containers. An external control panel with four push buttons: start, pause, reset and emergency; the latter configured for the total disconnection of the system in case of possible jamming failures. Finally, the system delivers the results of the sphere separation by color on the control panel and physically in the repositories of the structure

    El presente artículo se elabora teniendo en consideración que la posesión de armas por muchos integrantes de la comunidad civil es un tema que ha creado grandes polémicas en el marco del fenómeno conocido como seguridad ciudadana. El incremento del grado de agresión e infracciones en el mundo en general, constituye aquella explicación comprobada y adquirir un arma especialmente de fuego, sin dejar a un lado la existencia de armas blancas, explosivas, incendiarias, entre otras. El objetivo de esta investigación se enmarca en  configurar el delito de robo en la ciudad de Ambato, los medios de utilización de armas, como el arma blanca en el cometimiento de delitos, y la existencia de mecanismos de control ciudadano.
