Work-life balance practices and employee job satisfaction: A case study of Ghana's security industry in Greater Accra
Purpose: The main goal of this study is to determine how work-life balance factors influence employees' job satisfaction in the security sector.
Research Methodology: To sample 115 employees, a quantitative methodology and correlational descriptive design, as well as a census technique, were used. The data were collected using structured questionnaires. The hypotheses were tested using multiple linear regression, and the data were input, processed, and analyzed using SPSS version 20.
Results: The findings showed that employees benefit from the organization's work-life balance strategies developed to guarantee that work life is easy for all employees. It also highlighted that several work-life balance elements have a substantial influence on employees' job satisfaction.
Limitations: A drawback is that, especially in Ghana's security industry, work-life balance practice has received less attention in the management literature. The study was limited in scope and concentrated on two districts in an urban environment.
Contribution: This theory supports the notion that elements of work-life balance influence job satisfaction. Whatever occurred or Any effort made to support employees’ work life would produce definite results when these factors or practices are ingrained into the security service and other organizations’ general policies and programs. This amply demonstrates the importance of work-life balance as a pivot point for employees' ability to meet organizational goals. It is good that the human resource management of every organization pays critical attention to these factors because they will increase job satisfaction and enhance performance
Analysis of licensing law on business services based on the Online Single Submission (OSS) system
Purpose: The purpose of this research is to examine the analysis of business licensing through OSS after the issuance of Government Regulation Number 24 Year 2018 and to analyze the perspective of OSS licensing implementation in the licensing system at PTSP Batam City.
Research Methodology: The research method used in this research is normative research method by involving analysis of legal regulations, policies, and legal instruments related to applicable laws and regulations.
Results: The result of the research shows that licensing before PP No. 24 Year 2018 was manual and took too long to process, licensing after PP No. 24 Year 2018 is effective can be online and can take place at any time of registration. For legal protection for business actors by adjusting the license to OSS so as not to lose money in order to establish relationships with third parties. Because there are no strict sanctions for business actors who do not make adjustments to OSS.
Implementation: The existence of overlapping regulations and the non-realization of certainty of authority governing licensing between the regulations of the Regional Government Law, the Investment Law and PP Number 24 of 2018
Legal analysis of the authority of quarantine officials in handling illegal cattle importation
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine the implementation of the Quarantine Officer's authority in handling illegal cattle importation, and what are the obstacles and solutions to the Quarantine Officer's authority in handling illegal cattle importation.
Research Methodology: The research method used in this study is the normative research method by involving the analysis of legal regulations, policies, and legal instruments related to applicable laws and regulations.
Results: The results show that the implementation of Quarantine Officers in conducting quarantine supervision and actions at the Batam Class I Agricultural Quarantine Center is in accordance with applicable procedures and laws.
Implementation: The implementation of quarantine according to Law Number 21 of 2019 is the authority of the Central Government and to achieve its objectives, quarantine measures and supervision and/or control of carrier media are carried out. There are two officials who are given duties and responsibilities in the implementation of quarantine, namely Quarantine Officials (consisting of Animal Quarantine Officials, Plant Quarantine Officials and Fish Quarantine Officials) and Civil Servant Investigators (PPNS)/Quarantine Investigators. Obstacle factors faced include: weak sanctions or penalties for violators in the field of quarantine regulations. Quarantine officials may conduct intelligence activities in coordination with the agency responsible for state intelligence and/or other agencies that perform intelligence functions. It should be clear when and what quarantine measures are taken by Quarantine Officers with Quarantine Investigators. The long process in the regulation of document processing is not balanced with the rate of need for animal entry
Law enforcement of agricultural commodity circulation in the perspective of state revenue
Purpose: The purpose of this research is to determine the legal arrangements for the circulation of agricultural commodities from the perspective of state revenue and how the implementation, obstacle factors, and law enforcement solutions for the circulation of agricultural commodities from the perspective of state revenue.
Research methodology: The research method of this journal is normative juridical (legal research) through a literature study with an empirical juridical approach (sociological juridical) through a field study that aims to empirically obtain legal knowledge.
Results: The results showed that the legal regulation of the circulation of agricultural commodities from the perspective of state revenue, namely Article 86, regulates the act of entering the carrier media by not completing the health certificate, through the place of entry determined by the Central Government, or not reporting or not submitting the Carrier Media as regulated in Article 33 of Law Number 21 of 2019.
Implementation: The implementation of law enforcement on the circulation of agricultural commodities from the perspective of state revenue, namely the implementation of law enforcement against criminal acts of smuggling agricultural commodities, encounters various obstacles, ranging from geographical factors and limited resources to inter-agency coordination. These constraints affect the effectiveness of supervision and prosecution. However, capacity-building efforts, closer coordination between institutions, and public education can be solutions to overcome these challenges, ensuring the protection of the agricultural sector and state revenue
Improved compliance of individual taxpayers through tax audit (Study at one of the Primary Service Offices in Bandung)
Purpose: This study aims to determine the increase in individual taxpayer compliance through tax audits.
Research methodology: The researcher used a cross-sectional survey approach to determine the effect of tax audits on increasing individual taxpayer compliance, so the researchers surveyed tax examiners at one of the primary service offices in Bandung. The questionnaire was deployed in a structured manner and provided to 40 employees closely related to their duties as tax auditors. To test the effect of research variables, the researchers used simple regression analysis techniques to determine the magnitude of the effect of tax audits on individual taxpayer compliance.
Results: The results of the study show that there is an effect of tax audits on taxpayer compliance. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of tax audits will be able to increase taxpayer compliance.
Limitations: This study only examines the perception of employees who conduct tax audits. In addition, it only uses a small sample and only tests, individual taxpayers, so it cannot generalize the study results.
Contribution: This study strengthens previous research and the theoretical basis of compliance in tax studies in Indonesia
Novelty: This research complements research on taxpayer compliance that focuses on tax audits so that this research can add to the diversity of individual taxpayer compliance research
Different dimensions of conspicuous consumption in the emerging market of Bangladesh
Purpose: This study wishes to explore the level of understanding of how consumers in the market perceive conspicuous consumption.
Research methodology: A qualitative research process was applied for collecting and evaluating the information, and the data is collected using the Ethnographic and Netnographic approaches to conduct this study.
Results: Customers buy luxury things based on aesthetic value, originality, social standing, desired states, and money use. For social standing, people purchase premium products. The desire to consume luxury items and services also encourage their conspicuous purchase, according to the research. People use luxury things to maximize their fortune.
Limitations: This research is conducted within Bangladesh. If it is broader research and there is available time, the study can be performed in different regions of the country. Core data can be obtained if observing each respondent for a long time is possible.
Contribution: According to this study, Bangladeshi consumers redefine luxury through their product attitudes. This research has managerial and academic uses. This research teaches about conspicuous consumption. This study suggests luxury brand owners modify items to diverse countries so cultural differences don't affect conspicuous purchasing. As counterfeit items may be dangerous to health, particularly electronics, marketing managers can raise awareness by researching this research
Treasury Single Account (TSA) and cost of governance: Survey of MDAs in Anambra State
Purpose: This study examines the effect of TSA on Nigeria’s public sector governance cost.
Research methodology: This study employed a descriptive survey research design. Ten Federal Ministries, Departments & Agencies (MDAs) in Anambra State constituted the study population. The study chose Ten respondents from each MDA were selected using purposive sampling. This study employed primary data from a structured questionnaire for data collection.
Results: The results show that e-accounting and TSA have a substantial impact on national spending by curbing leakages, but with little effect on federally generated revenue. Thus, e-accounting and TSA significantly impact the cost of governance.
Limitations: The study relied only on questionnaire responses, which is the perception of public-sector employees in MDAs.
Contributions: This study contributes to governance and policy research by identifying the benefits of TSA in reducing the overall cost of governance.
Novelty: By integrating all government accounts, enabling the government to track and monitor its activities at any time, and giving the government a comprehensive view of its financial position, this study supports stakeholder theory, in addition to the Public Finance Management Perspective, which maintains that the government should effectively manage all financial resources (mobilization and expenditure) for the benefit of the population
Legal implications of placement illegal Indonesian migrants
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine the legal implications associated with the illegal placement of Indonesian migrant workers in the context of human rights protection and the Indonesian government’s role in addressing the illegal placement of migrant workers and protecting human rights.
Research methodology: The research method used in this study is a normative legal research method involving analysis of legal materials in the form of legal regulations, international conventions, policies, and legal instruments related to the illegal placement of Indonesian migrant workers.
Results: The results showed that the legal implications related to the illegal placement of Indonesian migrant workers differed from the upheld values of social justice, legal protection, humanity, equality, and equality in Pancasila.
Contribution: The government and the legal system must play active roles in ensuring equal human rights protection for migrant workers, preventing illegal placements, strengthening law enforcement, and ensuring fair access to legal services and protection for Indonesian migrant workers. The Indonesian government plays an important role in addressing the illegal placement of migrant workers and in protecting their human rights. Responsiveness to problems, responsibility for protection, responsiveness to diversity, collaborative governance, and prioritization of public values, governments strive to respond effectively and fairly to issues faced by illegal migrant workers and ensure equal protection of their human rights
Alternative settlement of dispute between Israel and Palestine
Purpose: This research purpose is to find an alternative dispute between Israel and Palestine so that human rights are not being deprived anymore.
Research methodology: The approach in this study was carried out by deepening research by reading literature related to the problem that became the topic, namely the dispute between Palestine and Israel.
Results: The results obtained from this study are that the dispute between Israel and Palestine is still experiencing obstacles in the implementation of resolution no. 181 so that there is a need for follow-up from the UN security council and the UN general assembly so that the dispute can be resolved immediately
Limitations: This research has not explained how the implementation of the solution that has been given.
Contribution: Analyze how the right way to resolve the conflict between Israel and Palestine
Addressing Barriers to entry into international trade by SMEs in Zimbabwe
Purpose: The study sought to establish strategies to address barriers to entry into international trade by SMEs in Harare. It was triggered by the need to increase the participation of Zimbabwean SMEs in foreign markets.
Research methodology: The research study adopted an explanatory approach using a survey strategy and data was collected from 322 registered SMEs in Harare using questionnaires. Data was analysed using SPSS 27 to calculate descriptive and inferential statistics and Chi-square tests, correlation, and regression analyses were used to address the research questions.
Results: Barriers to entry into international trade identified were a lack of managerial expertise and entrepreneurial skills and low advertising levels. The study recommends that SMEs increase the number of skilled personnel and develop SME management. SME management should also increase market knowledge and promote innovation to allow for SMEs to participate meaningfully in international trade.
Limitation: The study was limited to SMEs operating in Harare only. It was quantitative and explanatory.
Contribution: The study makes a significant contribution to the existing body of knowledge by bringing to the fore strategies that could enhance the international participation of SMEs, which are the backbone of economic growth in Zimbabwe
