Enhancing entrepreneurial intention in secondary school
Purpose: The literature reveals that emerging markets experience high unemployment rates. However, tertiary institutions continue to chant out a large number of graduates, increasing the rate of unemployment. Regardless of the tertiary institutions introducing entrepreneurship education, graduates continue to seek employment instead of creating it. This study analyses the introduction of entrepreneurship education in secondary schools to create entrepreneurship intentions in students.
Research Methodology: The researcher adopted an interpretative paradigm that advocates a qualitative approach. The study face-to-face interviewed 17 head teachers from secondary schools in the Mashonaland West Province. This study thematically deduces entrepreneurship teaching methods, entrepreneurship content, and entrepreneurship assessment methods as sub-concepts that, if implemented, lead to entrepreneurship intention.
Results: The researcher established that entrepreneurship education leads to entrepreneurship intentions if introduced in secondary schools. However, it requires commitment from policy designers and implementers to achieve the intended goals. This study recommends the adoption of entrepreneurship education based on a funding model supported by stakeholders, including financial institutions and the government.
Limitations: The study had a methodological limitation in that the sample size was small (17 head teachers).
Contributions: This study contributes to educational policy changes through the introduction of entrepreneurship education and its curriculum.
Novelty: This study analyzed the implementation of entrepreneurship education in secondary schools as a vehicle to solve the unemployment challenge
Roles of positive psychological capital resources dimensions on self-employment creation among youths
Purpose: This research paper aims to explore how positive psychological resources influence youth participating in the Industrial Training Fund’s (ITF) National Industrial Skill Development Programme (NISDP), specifically examining the programs’ impact on self-employment creation in Plateau State, Nigeria.
Method: The paper employs Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and a Structural Equation Model (SEM) to examine the relationship between positive psychological resources and self-employment creation in Plateau State.
Results: The study concludes that dimensions of positive psychological resources serve as effective predictors of self-employment creation among youths. However, it notes that two dimensions; resilience and hope, did not exhibit a significant positive relationship. Nonetheless, the lack of significance does not negate the existence of a relationship explaining self-employment creation among youths in the context of this study.
Limitations: Several factors constrained the study. It was conducted within a specific constituency in Plateau State, limiting its scope and generalizability. Therefore, the results may not be applicable to the entire state.
Contributions: This study offers insights beneficial to both self-employed and unemployed youths, emphasizing the importance of a positive mindset in self-employment creation. The findings are particularly relevant to the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and its National Industrial Skills Development Programme (NISDP), shedding light on the effectiveness of their training programs fostering self-employment. Moreover, this research contributes to the existing body of literature on self-employment creation among youths and extends understanding of positive psychological capital resources (PSYCAP) by examining various dimensions. Additionally, it provides guidance for future directions in research and practice in this field

How e-human resource management can increase employee productivity in F&B in Batam
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of E-Human Resource Management (E-HRM) had on Batam’s F&B productivity.
Research methodology: A total of 395 respondents were included in the study. Four populations were used in this study, namely Starbucks, McDonalds, Mixue, and KFC, located in Batam City, Riau Islands, Brazil. The obtained data were processed using the PLS SEM application.
Results: The results suggest that the implementation of E-HRM has a significant positive impact on employee productivity in the F&B companies studied.
Limitations: There are many limitations when conducting this study due to difficulties in collecting data, information, and respondents at KFC, Mixue, Starbucks, and McDonalds. This causes this research to be suboptimal because the company maintains its data privacy. Therefore, this study only obtained respondent data internally. Then, with limited time, the time to distribute questionnaires to respondents was very short.
Contribution: This research provides a deep understanding of the importance of implementing E-HRM (E-Job Analysis, E-Training & Development, E-Performance Appraisal, E-Recruitment, and E-Communication) in increasing employee productivity in F&B companies in Batam City. The results show that e-HRM has a positive impact on Behavioral Intention, which contributes to increased employee productivity
Audit committee attributes, audit quality and performance of oil and gas companies
Purpose: This study examines the audit committee attributes, audit quality, and financial performance of listed oil and gas companies in Nigeria.
Research methodology: Audit committee attributes were measured by audit committee size, audit committee independence, and audit committee financial expertise, and audit quality was measured by audit fees charged by an external auditor. Financial performance is measured in terms of earnings per share. The researcher used secondary data extracted from the ten listed oil and gas firms annual reports, and the accounts were analyzed using Panel Least Square.
Results: This study reveals a positive and statistically significant relationship between audit committee independence and earnings per share. It also shows that audit quality moderates audit committee attributes significantly and increases firm performance. This study recommends that maintaining high audit quality within the audit committee is crucial for a firm if it aims to offer increased assurance to investors and stakeholders concerning the precision and dependability of its financial statements.
Limitations: This study was limited to listed oil and gas companies in Nigeria ranging from to 2016-2022.
Contribution: This study examined factors that can moderate the relationship between audit committees and the financial performance of listed oil and gas companies in Nigeria. One such factor is audit quality, which can potentially enhance or diminish the impact of audit committee effectiveness on financial performance. No study conducted in Nigeria has examined this relationship specifically in the oil and gas sector. This knowledge gap served as the rationale for conducting this study
The influence of social media on students of second-cycle institutions in Tamale and its implications
Purpose: This study investigated the influence of social media on students in second-cycle institutions in Tamale. It concentrates on its relationship with academic performance, learning ability, writing skills, and gender disparities in usage patterns.
Methodology/approach: A purposive sample method was employed to select 150 students from secondary schools in Tamale. Data were collected through surveys and interviews using both qualitative and quantitative approaches to explore how social media affects students’ academic experiences.
Results/Findings: Findings from this study indicate that the use of social media has a significant impact on students’ learning abilities, writing skills, and academic performance. A significant number of learners reported becoming distracted with reduced concentration because they spent excessive time on the sites, leading to possible health challenges and a sedentary lifestyle. The results also indicated that gender differences exist in social media usage patterns, among others, which affect school performance.
Limitations: One limitation of this research is that it had a small sample size and may not represent all students found within second-cycle institutions. This further implies that this research is constrained to a particular geographical area, limiting its generalizability.
Contribution: This study contributes to the understanding of how social media influences students in second-cycle institutions, highlighting the need for educators and policymakers to establish guidelines for responsible social media use to enhance academic success and mitigate its negative impacts

Purpose: The aim of this research is to determine the need to implement a policy of replacing E-KTP with Digital Population Identity (IKD) in South Lampung Regency and to determine the implementation of a policy of replacing E-KTP with Digital Population Identity (IKD) in South Lampung Regency.
Research methodology: This study employs a normative empirical method using a descriptive analysis approach. Secondary data were acquired through meticulous literature review and subjected to qualitative analysis. Rigorous literature selection ensured data validity. The outcomes of the analysis served as the basis for accurate conclusions within the research.
Results: The research results show that changing KTP-e to IKD needs to be done because of the implementation of Permendagri No. 72 of 2022 concerning Standards and Specifications for Hardware, Software and Digital Identity Card Blanks. This was implemented because the e-KTP was no longer in line with the dynamics of the need for population administration services supported by a digital system.
Limitations: The implementation of changing e-KTPs to IKDs in the South Lampung Regency has not been optimal, because the acquisition of IKD activations has only reached 14.04% of the number of existing villages and sub-districts. In practice, any service still requires a physical KTP.
Contribution: This research explains that IKD is a solution to the problem of the scarcity of e-KTP blanks, which has always been an obstacle in implementing e-KTP because of the relatively high demand for recording and printing identity cards
