    No full text
Purpose: This study examines the role of investment law in Indonesia's economic recovery efforts, particularly under Law No. 25 of 2007. Indonesia, as a developing country, emphasizes high economic growth as a measure of success in enhancing societal welfare. Investment, through capital investment, is crucial for increasing capital stock, production capacity, and economic growth, thereby creating jobs. Methodology: The study uses a normative legal research method with an analytical descriptive approach, analyzing regulations related to Law No. 25/2007, relevant literature, and data from the internet. Results: The findings indicate that legal certainty significantly influences investment decisions. A country with clear, fair, and well-enforced laws attracts more investors, which is essential for sustainable economic growth. Recent studies highlight the benefits and challenges of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Indonesia. Contribution: The government's efforts to improve the investment climate include revising regulations, enhancing legal enforcement, and developing infrastructure. These measures aim to provide a conducive environment for both domestic and foreign investors. However, continuous legal reforms are necessary to address implementation challenges and ensure that investment laws remain relevant and effective. The study concludes that investment is vital for Indonesia's economic advancement and underscores the need for ongoing improvements in legal and regulatory frameworks to maintain investor confidence and drive economic development

    No full text
Purpose: This investigation stemmed from the need to support women living with HIV/AIDS using community approaches of business partnerships and women empowerment as opposed to government-and private sector-led support. Research Methodology:  This study adopted systematic sampling techniques for data collection from 123 women living with HIV/AIDS from a designated health center in Kabale Municipality. Women taking ARVs were identified from the points where they were collecting their ARVs, and were given questionnaires after consenting to participate in the study. Results: Women empowerment increased decision-making power, while business partnerships decreased dependence on male partners. Women empowerment increases support for women living with HIV/AIDS compared with business partnerships. Business partnerships, as observed in this study, draw weak relationships from many women living with HIV/AIDS. Women empowerment programs that cut across all age groups are effective in supporting vulnerable women living with HIV/AIDS. Limitations: This study encountered the challenge of interfacing with the respondents, since the information was collected by those in charge of the drug distribution center but not the researchers, and these affected in-depth investigations. Women accessing HIV/AIDS do not want to be identified because of stigma within the community. Contributions: From a public health perspective, designers of intervention programs to support women living with HIV/AIDS should consider inclusiveness in design, driven by age categorizations. Designers of intervention programs to support women living with HIV/AIDS should target business partnerships among low-income earners to reduce vulnerability

    No full text
Purpose: This study aims to examine the effects of inflation, exchange rates, and the Covid-19 pandemic on Indonesia's trade balance position and to develop an empirical estimation model to predict its position. Method: The data used in this research are the inflation rate, exchange rate of rupiah to the US dollar, export value, and import value of Indonesia from January 2012 to March 2021. The econometric model used in this study was a binary logistic regression model. Results: The results indicate that The regression coefficient of the inflation rate is negative at 0.3621, with an odds ratio of 0.696. This suggests that 1 percent in inflation reduces the probability of a trade balance surplus of 0.696. The regression coefficient for the exchange rate was positive at 2.18, with an odds ratio of 8.85. This means that every 2.72 rupiah increase in the exchange rate raises the probability of a trade balance surplus of 8.85 times. However, this study does not find empirical evidence that inflation, exchange rates, and pandemic of Covid-19 have no impact on the position of Indonesia's trade balance. Limitations: This study focuses on two factors believed to influence the position of trade balance in Indonesia: the inflation rate and foreign exchange rates. Contributions: This study provides insights into government policy

    No full text
Purpose: This study investigated the influence of transformational leadership and the school environment on the organizational commitment of teachers. Research methodology: A quantitative nonexperimental research design with multiple regression analysis was employed. Using the Raosoft calculator, 115 of the 162 public secondary teachers in Davao City were selected as respondents who rated the three adopted questionnaires. Results: The findings revealed a high level of transformational leadership, school environment, and teachers’ organizational commitment. In terms of significant relationships, both transformational leadership and the school environment were moderately positive and statistically significant. The results of the regression revealed that transformational leadership and the school environment are responsible for 46.2% of the variation in the organizational commitment of teachers. However, the results of the coefficients revealed that only the school environment could predict organizational commitment. Limitations: This study only involved 115 respondents and used adopted questionnaires, which might be quite different from the context of the respondents. Contribution: The results and findings of this study can be used as a basis for implementing programs and interventions to address problems with teachers’ organizational commitment. Novelty: Previous studies have only focused on some variables that influence organizational commitment, such as remoteness, emotional exhaustion, inaccessibility of healthy and sufficient school accommodations, and lack of local community linkages without a clear theoretical framework. Fortunately, this study explored other relevant factors, such as leadership and the school environment, as predictors of organizational commitment by establishing related theories to strongly support these variables with corresponding indicators
