    No full text
Purpose: Tourism is a pivotal force in contemporary economies, shaping macroeconomic facets, such as national income, financial robustness, and employment opportunities. In an era marked by globalization, nations and urban centers aspire to elevate their competitive stance and augment community well-being through strategic blueprints for the tourism sector. Research Methodology:  This research focuses on the evaluation of Persian Gulf tourism's standing vis-à-vis regional rivals while identifying the tourism assets and competencies of Farsi Island and scrutinizing their Value, Rareness, Imitability, and Organization (VRIO) attributes. The meta-SWOT strategic planning methodology is a paramount tool in this context. Results: The research unfolds in two phases: documentary and bibliographical scrutiny, and comprehensive surveys canvassing insights from ten tourism authorities judiciously chosen through purposive selection. The results shed light on the preeminent sway of macro-level factors, including national macro-management, governmental foreign policy, and international sanctions, as potent determinants of the tourism landscape of Farsi Island. Limitations: This study required long-term secondary analysis of data from Persian Gulf countries. However, these data have only recently been collected in a few countries; therefore, this study is based on primary data collection. Contributions: Concurrently, factors such as inadequate budget allocation and marginalization of the tourism sector within the country play pivotal roles in molding the Persian Gulf region's tourism trajectory

Market reaction on earnings announcement information contents: Analysis from book-to-market

    No full text
Purpose: This study examines the market’s reaction to information content during earnings announcements from the viewpoint of changes in the book-to-market ratio. Research methodology: This study used a quantitative approach and an event study methodology as the primary measurement. It applies a market model based on Indonesia’s equity market daily stock returns to analyze the cumulative average abnormal returns in firms with upward/downward book-to-market value changes. Results: The findings reveal that stock prices in Indonesia's stock equity grew significantly above the firms' book values, indicating that investors pay more attention to expected future returns than the accounting value. This study also reveals that changes in book value may cause more significant changes in market value, following the direction of information content. The study found that the market is more sensitive to bad news than to good news and noted a significant relationship between book-to-market and post-earnings announcement abnormal returns. Limitations: This  study did not cover the long-term impact of the long-horizon test. A long-horizon test may provide evidence of market efficiency from the long-term perspective. Accordingly, this study suggests an issue for future research.   Contribution:  This study contributes to the literature by suggesting that testing market efficiency from the view of changes in book-to-market provides robust grounds to explain the market reaction to good or bad news information content. Novelty: Our findings show that Rp. One adjustment in book value in the Indonesian stock market corresponds to an average value of Rp. 16.43 adjustment in market value. This result implies that book value changes can lead to more significant changes in the market value

    No full text
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine career adaptability among college students with internship experience. Research Methodology: This study used a non-experimental design with a quantitative descriptive method. Respondents in this study were 64 college students with internship experience who were chosen by quota sampling technique. Respondents were asked to fill out a questionnaire on the Career Adapt-Abilities Scale with a reliability of 0.948. Results: The results of the study showed that the career adaptability of 76.6% of college students with an internship experience was categorized as high. Furthermore, the profile of each dimension of career adaptability shows that most college students with internship experience also have a high profile in all dimensions. Limitations: The inability to depict the career adaptability profile of respondents based on all the antecedent factors of career adaptability (adaptivity), such as cognitive ability and self-esteem, as well as other factors like educational institution, socioeconomic status, age, and family circumstances. Contribution: The research contributes by offering insights to guide higher education institutions in facilitating students' internship experiences. Additionally, it provides valuable knowledge to students about the importance of developing a comprehensive career adaptability profile. This understanding, which includes various dimensions of career adaptability, helps students prepare for future career challenges and transitions

Government size and digital inequality in Indonesia

    No full text
Purpose: This study analyzed the impact of government size in the field of infrastructure on digital inequality in Indonesia. Method: This study uses panel data analysis with the CEM, FEM, and REM approaches using research samples from the Central Bureau of Statistics, Ministry of Finance, and International Telecommunication Union in Indonesia. Results: The results of this study indicate that government-sized infrastructure has a negative and significant effect on the ICT Index, while the square government-sized infrastructure/infrastructure expenditure optimization effect has a positive and significant impact on the ICT Index, and the implementation of the infrastructure budget supports digital equity; therefore, it is necessary to have an equal distribution of infrastructure in all corners in order to proportionally increase the allocation of the infrastructure budget. This means that the size of the government is still too small to equalize the increase in the ICT development index. Based on the government size threshold, the average for each province in Indonesia reached 68 percent. Limitations: This study was limited to the national level of each region in Indonesia. Contributions: This study aims to serve as a reference for government considerations in strategic policies related to infrastructure spending and issues of the technology change strategy

    No full text
Purpose: This study aimed to test the effectiveness of kersen leaf extract (Muntingia calabura L.) on mouse spermatozoa (Mus musculus L.) after d-galactose induction. Research Methodology: This study was conducted between September and October 2023 at the Zoology Laboratory of the University of Lampung. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) including five treatment groups. Each treatment included five mice: positive control (K0), negative control (K-) induced D-galactose 150 mg/kg body weight, treatment 1 (P1)-induced D-galactose 150 mg/kg body weight, Kersen leaf extract 35 mg/kg body weight, (P2) induced D-galactose 150 mg/kg body weight, and Kersen leaf extract 70 mg/kg body weight, and (P3) induced D-galactose 150 mg/kg body weight and Kersen leaf extract 105 mg/kg body weight for 35 days. Normal and homogeneous data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) to determine whether the treatment's effect was significant. Differences were considered statistically significant at p < 0.05. Duncan's multiple interval post hoc test (=5%) was used to identify the most effective treatment. Results: Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) showed that the total, viability, motility, and morphology of normal spermatozoa increased after induction with Kersen leaf extract at a dose of 105 mg/kg BB. Limitations: This study provides readers with knowledge on natural antioxidants that prevent free radicals. Contribution: This study provides readers with knowledge on natural antioxidants that prevent free radicals

    No full text
Purpose: The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of electronic ticketing on Non-Tax State Revenue in Bandar Lampung City and to identify the obstacles to implementing electronic ticketing in Bandar Lampung City. Research methodology: This study employs a normative empirical method using a descriptive analysis approach. Secondary data were acquired through meticulous literature review and subjected to qualitative analysis. Rigorous literature selection ensured data validity. The outcomes of the analysis served as the basis for accurate conclusions within the research. Results: The results showed that the implementation of electronic ticketing involves the use of cameras as supervisors. Another party with the authority to enforce traffic laws is the prosecutor's office. The prosecutor's office has the authority to execute the traffic fines. The payment of fines as a ticket sanction is non-tax revenue for the state. Limitations: In general, there are no problems with the fine payment system using the E-TLE system, but the problem lies in the fine process itself, which is an obstacle to the effectiveness of E-TLE implementation and affects the PNBP. E-TLE can reduce the rate of extortion by police officers who damage the image of the National Police which is detrimental to state revenues Contribution: This study explains that e-ticketing is one of the positive impacts of technological developments that have changed the use of blanks in the ticketing process to become digital with a system owned by law enforcement
