    Numerical Wordplay in Digital Communication: A Corpus Linguistic Study on Cyber-pragmatics

    This research aims to elucidate the pragmatic significance of employing numerical wordplay with humorous undertones from a cyber-text semio-pragmatics perspective. Social media serves as the primary data source, with textual content featuring instances of numerical wordplay with comedic elements constituting the substantive data. Data collection involved reading and note-taking techniques, followed by identification, selection, classification, and typification to distinguish between suitable and unsuitable data for analysis. Triangulation was employed to validate the data, involving both experts in the field and relevant theoretical frameworks. Contextual analysis was utilized as the analytical method to uncover the pragmatic meanings embedded within the use of numerical wordplay. The findings reveal various pragmatic functions, including concealing speech intent, maintaining secrecy, easing speech delivery, playful engagement, manipulation of speech intent, and inviting humor with speech partners. This research contributes theoretically to the advancement of pragmatics and cyber-pragmatics as interdisciplinary fields within linguistics, particularly in the realm of digital communication. Furthermore, it offers practical implications for fostering further research in pragmatics, especially in the emerging field of cyber-pragmatics, which warrants further exploration and scholarly attention.   Permainan Kata Numerik dalam Komunikasi Digital: Sebuah Studi Linguistik Korpus tentang Pragmatik SiberPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan signifikansi pragmatis dari penggunaan permainan kata numerik dengan nada humor dari perspektif semio-pragmatik teks siber. Media sosial berfungsi sebagai sumber data utama, dengan konten tekstual yang menampilkan contoh permainan kata numerik dengan elemen komedi yang merupakan data substantif. Pengumpulan data melibatkan teknik membaca dan mencatat, diikuti oleh identifikasi, pemilihan, klasifikasi, dan tipifikasi untuk membedakan antara data yang sesuai dan tidak sesuai untuk analisis. Triangulasi digunakan untuk memvalidasi data, melibatkan para ahli di lapangan dan kerangka teoritis yang relevan. Analisis kontekstual digunakan sebagai metode analisis untuk mengungkap makna pragmatis yang tertanam dalam penggunaan permainan kata numerik. Temuan tersebut mengungkapkan berbagai fungsi pragmatis, termasuk menyembunyikan maksud ujaran, menjaga kerahasiaan, memudahkan penyampaian ujaran, keterlibatan yang menyenangkan, manipulasi maksud ujaran, dan mengundang humor dengan mitra tutur. Penelitian ini berkontribusi secara teoritis terhadap kemajuan pragmatik dan pragmatik siber sebagai bidang interdisipliner dalam linguistik, khususnya dalam bidang komunikasi digital. Lebih jauh, penelitian ini menawarkan implikasi praktis untuk mendorong penelitian lebih lanjut dalam pragmatik, khususnya dalam bidang cyber-pragmatik yang sedang berkembang, yang memerlukan eksplorasi lebih lanjut dan perhatian ilmiah

    Al-Ghazali's Concept of Tazkiyatun Nafs as a Method in Moral Education

    This research aims to examine the implementation of Al-Ghazali's concept of tazkiyatun nafs as a method in moral education. The method in this research is descriptive qualitative method in which the author collects data by literature study (literature review) from various sources such as books, articles, and the internet related to the research theme. The results of this study indicate that the concept of tazkiyatun nafs Al-Ghazali can be implemented as moral education because it basically leads to the process of purifying the soul by eliminating various despicable traits, accustoming praiseworthy behavior and getting closer to Allah. With these stages, it can form the personality of students who are more noble. The conclusion of this research is that the concept of tazkiyatun nafs if implemented in the field of education can be a method of moral education can be done by strengthening the role of the teacher as a teacher of the concept of tazkiyatun nafs and a role model for students, integrating the concept of tazkiyatun nafs as part of the school education curriculum in various subjects, and adopting a learning model that is able to support students through the stages of takhali, tahalli, and tajali in order to form students who have intellectual, moral and spiritual intelligence. It is expected for teachers and schools to be able to support character and moral education programs among students based on the concept of tazkiyatun nafs Al-Ghazali

    Islamic Economics under Colonial Rule: The British Encounter with Muslim Northern Nigeria and Its Enduring Economic Legacies

    Introduction: The antagonism against Islam and Muslims, once manifested through the military campaigns of the Crusades, has evolved into more subtle yet pervasive forms in the modern era – most notably, Western imperialism and colonialism. British colonial rule in Northern Nigeria exemplifies this trajectory, as it entailed not only political domination but also efforts to impose Christian missionary ideals and systematically restructure indigenous Islamic institutions. This study investigates the historical, judicial, and economic impacts of British colonialism on Islam in Northern Nigeria, with particular attention to the responses of Muslim communities and the enduring consequences for Islamic governance and identity in the region. Methods: This paper employed historical and analytical methods, drawing on archival materials, Islamic scholarly sources, and relevant secondary literature to assess the colonial encounter. It contextualizes the arrival of Islam in Northern Nigeria and the subsequent British incursion, revealing that the most critical internal weakness of the Sokoto Caliphate was the inability of successive Sultans and Emirs to uphold the reformist ideals that defined its foundation. The dilution of Shari’a authority, particularly during the pre-independence period, led to a decline in public trust due to the appointment of poorly trained and morally compromised judicial officers. At the same time, British colonial economic policies rooted in exploitation and resource extraction undermined indigenous economic structures, marginalized Islamic leadership, and entrenched structural inequalities that continue to affect the region.Results: The research highlighted that Muslim resistance to colonial rule, often framed within the Islamic ideal of martyrdom (shahāda), played a significant role in preserving religious identity and Islamic culture. This historical resilience forms a critical basis for contemporary efforts toward Islamic institutional renewal. The paper concludes by recommending the revitalization of Islamic reformist principles, the promotion of dual (Islamic and Western) education, the restoration of integrity within Shari’a courts, the empowerment of qualified Ulama, and an economic reorientation rooted in Islamic ethics. Conclusion and Suggestion: It further suggests documenting Muslim resistance history and forging strategic partnerships with development actors to advance justice, education, and institutional strengthening within Northern Nigeria

    Deprived of the Islamic Financing and Lack of Inclusion of Muslim Populated States in India: An Empirical Study

    Introduction: Financing is the backbone of economic growth. It serves as the lifeblood of any business. However, any financial exclusion, especially Islamic financing exclusion driven by a socio-economic and political purpose to deprive of certain segment of society due to suspicion of terrorism or suppressions by state, makes a difference. In fact, these are banking services and financing facilities originally intended to provide socio-economic benefits to the overall citizenry and the general public, but they have certain limitations in policy prescriptions. It is crucial to make the availability of financial services the leading and primary objective of the public policy, and not discriminate on the basis of ones’ social status, caste, religio, or wealth. In March 2005, the former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, an architect of modern Indian economic revilism who passed away recently, appointed a high-level committee to prepare a report on the social, economic, and educational status of Indian Muslims, under the chairmanship of Justice Rajendra Sachar. The Sachar Report is considered the most valuable document that delves into the social, economic, and educational status of the Muslim community of India. The findings of this report revealed a shocking testimony to decades of institutional neglect and bias that have left the Indian Muslims far behind other Socio-Religious Communities, in the fields of education, employment, access to credit, and other social and physical infrastructure. The Indian banking sector has evolved over the years in terms of performance and complexity. Despite this development and growth, a large number of people have limited access to the financial services offered by financial institutions. Methods: The concern on which this study is based is the increasing financial exclusion among the Indian population generally and the Muslims in India specifically. In this novel study, we utilized panel data covering 14 Muslim-populated Indian regions (13 states and 1 Union Territory) from 2009 to 2016 to assess the factors influencing financial inclusion in terms of credit and deposit penetration. Results: By employing an explicit econometric model for panel data, it is found that the number of banking offices, per capita net state domestic product, outstanding liabilities, social sector expenditure, number of employees, and interest payments are some of the factors that influence financial inclusion. Conclusion and suggestion: This study will benefit the policymakers, state and government officials, society in general, especially Muslim populations in the relevant areas of Republic of India

    Perbandingan Kualitas Integrasi HOTS dalam Buku Teks Bahasa Indonesia SMA: Evaluasi Berbasis Kurikulum 2013 dan Kurikulum Merdeka

    Penelitian ini mengevaluasi integrasi Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) dalam buku teks Bahasa Indonesia untuk SMA pada Kurikulum 2013 dan Kurikulum Merdeka. Dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dan merujuk pada taksonomi Bloom yang direvisi, dua buku teks dianalisis berdasarkan indikator menganalisis dan mengevaluasi. Buku Kurikulum 2013 edisi 2014 memuat 78 soal, terdiri atas 17 soal menganalisis dan 37 mengevaluasi. Buku Kurikulum Merdeka edisi 2021 mencakup 55 soal, dengan 14 soal menganalisis dan 32 mengevaluasi. Meski jumlah soal lebih sedikit, Kurikulum Merdeka menunjukkan pendalaman aspek evaluasi kritis. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan penyusunan panduan nasional HOTS, pelatihan guru dalam asesmen kontekstual, serta kolaborasi antara pemangku kebijakan dan praktisi pendidikan untuk menguatkan literasi kritis dan daya saing global siswa.Comparison of HOTS Integration Quality in Indonesian Language Textbooks for Senior High School: Evaluation Based on 2013 Curriculum and Independent Curriculum  This study evaluates the integration of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in Indonesian language textbooks for senior high school students under the 2013 Curriculum and the Merdeka Curriculum. Using a qualitative descriptive approach and the revised Bloom’s taxonomy, two textbooks were analyzed based on indicators of analyzing and evaluating. The 2013 Curriculum textbook (2014 edition) contains 78 questions, including 17 analyzing and 37 evaluating questions. The Merdeka Curriculum textbook (2021 edition) includes 55 questions, with 14 analyzing and 32 evaluating items. Despite having fewer questions, the Merdeka Curriculum demonstrates deeper critical evaluation. The study recommends: (1) the development of a national operational guide for HOTS-based item writing, (2) teacher training on contextual assessment design, and (3) sustained collaboration among curriculum developers, academics, and practitioners to strengthen critical literacy and students’ global competitiveness

    SIGNIFIKASI POTRET PEREMPUAN MULIA DALAM AL-QUR’AN SERTA KORELASINYA DENGAN PRINSIP KESETARAAN DAN KEADILAN GENDER

    This study aims to examine the Qur'anic verses that contain noble female figures using Roland Barthes' signification theory approach. Signification enriches the understanding of God's word through linguistic and mythical analysis. The object of study includes seven female figures immortalized in the Qur'an, namely Maryam, the mother of Moses, Asiyah, Bilqis, two daughters of Prophet Shu'aib, Siti Sarah, and Siti Hajar. This research uses a qualitative method based on library research, with a thematic approach (dirāsat al-mawḍū'iyyah) to one main verse of each character. The results of the analysis show that the portraits of these noble women not only serve as ibrah, but also reflect the principles of gender equality and justice. The reinterpretation of these figures reveals the spiritual and social roles of women in the construction of revelation. The novelty of this research lies in the specific focus on female figures endowed with noble degrees in the Qur'an as well as the integration of Barthes' semiotic approach with the discourse of gender equality. The findings contribute to the development of gender-sensitive Qur'anic interpretation and open up space for a fairer interpretation of the role of women in religious texts. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an yang memuat tokoh-tokoh perempuan mulia dengan menggunakan pendekatan teori signifikasi Roland Barthes. Signifikasi memperkaya pemahaman firman Allah melalui analisis linguistik dan mitos. Objek kajian mencakup tujuh tokoh perempuan yang diabadikan dalam Al-Qur’an, yakni Maryam, ibunda Musa, Asiyah, Bilqis, dua putri Nabi Syu’aib, Siti Sarah, dan Siti Hajar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif berbasis studi pustaka (library research), dengan pendekatan tematik (dirāsat al-mawḍū‘iyyah) terhadap satu ayat utama dari masing-masing tokoh. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa potret perempuan-perempuan mulia tersebut tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai ibrah, tetapi juga mencerminkan prinsip-prinsip kesetaraan dan keadilan gender. Pemaknaan ulang terhadap figur-figur tersebut mengungkap peran spiritual dan sosial perempuan dalam konstruksi wahyu. Kebaruan penelitian ini terletak pada fokus spesifik terhadap tokoh perempuan yang dikaruniai derajat mulia dalam Al-Qur’an serta integrasi pendekatan semiotika Barthes dengan wacana kesetaraan gender. Temuan ini berkontribusi terhadap pengembangan tafsir Al-Qur’an yang peka gender dan membuka ruang pemaknaan yang lebih adil terhadap peran perempuan dalam teks keagamaan

    PERKEMBANGAN TAḤAMMUL WA AL-ADĀʼ DI PESANTREN TEBUIRENG: Studi Tradisi Pengajian Ṣaḥīḥayn Tahun 2020-2025

    The article discusses the process and development of the practice of taḥammul wa al-adā’ (transmission and delivery of hadith) at Tebuireng during the period 2020–2025 AD, as one of Indonesia’s leading centers of Islamic scholarship. The study aims to reveal how the model of hadith inheritance is applied, transformed, and recontextualized within the educational system of the Tebuireng pesantren. Utilizing a qualitative-descriptive approach through library research, anthropology, validity testing, and field observation, it was found that the Tebuireng pesantren not only implements traditional methods such as simāʿ, qirāʾah, and munāwalah, but also integrates them with modern formal education systems—including live broadcasts of Islamic lecture, which provide public access and expand the continuity of the sanad. The results of the research indicate that the taḥammul wa al-adā’ system in Tebuireng has undergone significant adaptation: in terms of the authority of the sanad, the venues (including at the Ma’had Aly Hasyim Asy’ari as a campus for training hadith specialists), and the media of delivery. These adaptations have played a crucial role in preserving the authenticity of the sanad and revitalizing the classical tradition of Islamic scholarship amidst the currents of modernization. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the dynamics of hadith transmission in contemporary Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia.Artikel ini membahas proses dan perkembangan praktek taḥammul wa al-adā’ (transmisi dan penyampaian hadis) di Tebuireng dalam kurun waktu 2020-2025 M, sebagai salah satu pusat keilmuan Islam serta menjadi rujukan di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap bagaimana model pewarisan hadis diterapkan, ditransformasikan, dan direkontekstualisasi dalam sistem pendidikan pesantren Tebuireng. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif-deskriptif melalui studi pustaka, antropologi, uji validitas dan observasi lapangan, ditemukan bahwa Pesantren Tebuireng tidak hanya menerapkan metode tradisional seperti simā, qirāʼatan dan munāwalah, tetapi juga mengintegrasikannya dengan sistem pendidikan formal modern termasuk siaran langsung pengajian yang membuka akses publik sekaligus memperluas keberlanjutan sanad. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sistem taḥammul wa al-adā’ di Tebuireng mengalami adaptasi signifikan, baik dari sisi otoritas sanad, tempat termasuk di Ma’had Aly Hasyim Asy’ari sebagai kampus pengkader ahli hadis, maupun media penyampaian, sehingga berperan penting dalam melestarikan otentisitas sanad dan menghidupkan tradisi keilmuan Islam klasik di tengah arus modernisasi. Studi ini memberikan kontribusi terhadap pemahaman dinamika transmisi hadis di lembaga pendidikan Islam kontemporer Indonesia.

    Relevansi Pemikiran Seyyed Hossein Nasr Terhadap Pengembangan Paradigma Pendidikan Islam Kontemporer

    This article examines the relevance of his ideas in constructing a contemporary paradigm of Islamic education through three main focuses: (1) the view of human beings as theomorphic creatures; (2) the conception of the teacher–student relationship; and (3) the epistemology of scientia sacra as the basis of sacred and holistic education. The research method employed is library research with a qualitative approach through content and thematic analysis of Nasr’s works and related academic literature. The findings indicate that human beings are viewed as theomorphic creatures reflecting the Divine Names and Attributes, so education should not be reduced to mere information transfer but directed toward tazkir (remembrance) and tazkiyatun nafs (inner purification) so that humans may realize their sacred origin. The teacher–student relationship is positioned in a transcendental framework, where the teacher acts not only as a muʿallim who imparts knowledge but also as a murabbi and spiritual guide, while the student is seen as a ṭālib al-ḥaqq (seeker of truth) journeying through purification of the soul. Nasr’s educational paradigm is transcendental, offering a critique of the secularized and fragmented nature of modern education, and is highly relevant to Islamic education in Indonesia in shaping the complete human being: intellectually intelligent, morally upright, and spiritually enlightened

    Penundaan Pernikahan di Kalangan Pasangan Muda: Telaah Hermeneutika Double Movement Fazlur Rahman terhadap Qs An-Nur:32

    Penundaan pernikahan (waithood) akibat ketidakstabilan ekonomi dan tuntutan karier semakin marak di kalangan generasi muda Indonesia, sehingga penting menelaahnya secara kontekstual dalam perspektif keislaman. Artikel ini bertujuan mengkaji makna kesiapan menikah dalam QS An‑Nur: 32 menggunakan pendekatan Hermeneutika Double Movement Fazlur Rahman, untuk merumuskan sintesis antara teks Al‑Qur’an dan dinamika sosial kontemporer. Penelitian kualitatif bersifat library research, dengan sumber primer berupa teks Al‑Qur’an dan karya Fazlur Rahman, serta data sekunder dari jurnal, buku, terkait penundaan pernikahan. Metode analisis mencakup: (1) Gerakan Pertama: menelusuri konteks historis dan linguistik QS An‑Nur: 32 untuk memahami maksud asli ayat; (2) Gerakan Kedua: menarik nilai moral universal dan menerjemahkannya ke dalam konteks sosial ekonomi modern. Hasil dan pembahasan menunjukkan bahwa QS An‑Nur: 32 menegaskan kesiapan finansial, emosional, dan spiritual sebagai prasyarat sakral sebelum menikah. Pada Gerakan Pertama ditemukan bahwa larangan “berkhalwat” atau istilah lain berzina menandai perlunya persiapan matang, sedangkan pada Gerakan Kedua, penundaan nikah yang bertujuan memperkuat fondasi keluarga dipandang sebagai manifestasi tanggung jawab moral, bukan pengabaian perintah agama. Sintesis hermeneutik ini menegaskan bahwa waithood dapat menjadi strategi etis untuk mewujudkan keluarga berkualitas. Kontribusi artikel terletak pada pengembangan wacana keagamaan yang menegaskan kesiapan sebagai syarat utama pernikahan, sekaligus menjadi acuan bagi pemuka agama dan pembuat kebijakan dalam merumuskan kebijakan sosial‑keagamaan yang lebih berorientasi pada kualitas keluarga

    Manajemen Mutu Program Studi: Analisis Profil Mutu Lulusan dan Relevansinya dalam Karir Alumni Sejarah Peradaban Islam Tahun 2011 – 2021

    The analysis of the description of the process of formulating the quality concept of the profile of graduates of the History of Islamic Civilization (SPI) Study Program (SPI) IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon is an integral part of efforts to test the relevance of graduate profiles to graduate careers. This effort was carried out through a survey research method with an exploratory approach to the alumni population from 2011 to 2021 which amounted to 297 people. This approach was chosen based on the assumption that social reality applies typically, subjectively and contextually in space and time, so researchers need to understand it by interpreting the phenomenon in depth in its context. The results of the study show that the mechanism of formulation and preparation is carried out through several stages, namely Need Assessment, Workshop, Formulation and Ratification at the Senate level, Socialization, Improvement. This mechanism produces the formulation of the quality profile of graduates, namely: Historians; Creator of narrative works with the theme of Multimedia-based Islamic Cultural History; Researcher in the field of Islamic Cultural History; Historical Tour Guide; and Cultural Observers. Meanwhile, the level of quality relevance in the career of graduates is relatively low, namely 19% of the object population. This low relevance is caused by several obstacles, namely the lack of job opportunities purely related to the expertise of the History of Islamic Civilization; Linearity of non-educational and educational expertise; Low foreign language and computer/technology (IT) skills; Low socialization and promotion of the SPI Study Program to stakeholders (the world of work)
