Revitalizing Agricultural Waqf for Sustainable Food Security: A Comparative Study of Indonesia and Turkey
Agricultural waqf represents a strategic instrument of Islamic social finance with the potential to support sustainable food security through asset-based and risk-sharing mechanisms. This study aims to analyze and compare agricultural waqf models in Indonesia and Türkiye, focusing on institutional governance, integration with Islamic finance, and their implications for food security outcomes. Using a qualitative comparative case-study approach, the research draws on document analysis, regulatory review, and semi-structured interviews with waqf stakeholders in both countries. The findings reveal that the effectiveness and scalability of agricultural waqf are determined less by land availability than by institutional quality, particularly nazhir professionalism, regulatory coherence, and state–market coordination. Indonesia’s agricultural waqf remains fragmented, characterized by weak documentation, limited financial integration, and reliance on voluntary management, while Türkiye demonstrates a more standardized and centralized governance legacy rooted in Ottoman waqf institutions. The study further finds that productive agricultural waqf requires a full-cycle financing architecture, in which zakat provides initial de-risking support, waqf functions as an asset-based risk absorber, and Islamic commercial finance supplies profit-sharing working capital through Shariah-compliant contracts such as muzāra‘ah and ijārah. Evaluated through the lens of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, particularly ḥifẓ al-nafs and ḥifẓ al-māl, agricultural waqf can contribute to sustainable food security when embedded within integrated value chains and outcome-oriented governance frameworks aligned with SDG 2.Keywords: agricultural waqf; sustainable food security; Islamic social finance; maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah; Indonesia–Türkiye compariso
Fraud in Trade Measurements and Weights from the Perspective of Sharia Economic Law
Buying and selling transactions constitute an essential part of daily economic activities in Muslim societies and are fundamentally governed by the principles of muʿāmalāt in Islamic law. Despite clear Qur’anic injunctions and prophetic traditions that command honesty and fairness, fraudulent practices such as reducing measurements and weights continue to occur and harm consumers. This study examines the practice of measurement and weight fraud by sellers and analyzes its legal and ethical implications from the perspective of Islamic economic law. The research employs a qualitative method using a normative legal approach, relying on library research that draws upon primary Islamic legal sources, including the Qur’an and Hadith, classical fiqh literature, as well as secondary sources such as scholarly works on Islamic economic law and Law Number 8 of 1999 on Consumer Protection. The data are analyzed descriptively and conceptually to identify the legal norms and principles governing honesty in trade. The findings demonstrate that reducing measurements and weights constitutes a form of fraud that violates the principles of muʿāmalāt, particularly honesty (ṣidq), trustworthiness (amānah), justice (ʿadl), and mutual consent (tarāḍī). Such practices infringe upon the protection of property rights (ḥifẓ al-māl), distort market fairness, and undermine consumer trust. This study concludes that honesty in measurements and weights is not merely an ethical virtue but a binding legal obligation in Islamic economic law, requiring legal firmness and ethical reform to ensure justice, social trust, and sustainable welfare in commercial life. Keywords: buying and selling; fraud in measurements; honesty principle; consumer protection; Islamic economic law
Play-based intervention to enhance executive function in young children with disabilities: A systematic literature review
Executive function such as working memory, inhibitory control, and cognitive flexibility is crucial for early learning, yet children with disabilities often face delays. Play-based interventions are increasingly recognized as effective strategies for supporting executive function in inclusive early childhood settings. Guided by PRISMA 2020, the researchers systematically reviewed studies published between 2016 and 2025. Of 50 initially identified studies, 30 met final inclusion criteria after screening and appraisal (JBI, CASP; inter-rater reliability confirmed with Cohen’s Kappa). Studies were coded into three categories: analog, digital, and hybrid play models. Twenty seven of 30 studies (90%) reported significant executive function gains. Analog models (n=14) enhanced inhibitory control, cognitive flexibility, and self-regulation through social structures and play rules. Digital models (n=13), such as serious games, computer-based cognitive games, and digital storytelling. Hybrid models (n=3) integrated scaffolding and digital mediation strengthened working memory, inhibitory control, and emotion regulation; AR-enhanced storybooks in Indonesia showed notable effects. Analog play ensures ecological validity, digital tools deliver structured cognitive demands, and hybrid approaches demonstrably integrate both strengths, yielding broader and more transferable executive function benefits. This review contributes a taxonomy of executive function focused play interventions and highlights their alignment with inclusive ECE reforms in Indonesia. Future research should pursue rigorous RCTs, longitudinal designs, and curriculum integration to evaluate sustainability and scalability. Keywords: executive function; play-based intervention; analog; digital; hybri
Peran Pesantren Al-Hamidiyah Pangandaran Jawa Barat Pada Masa Revolusi Fisik (1945-1949)
Pesantren in Indonesia have functioned not only as religious educational institutions but also as key actors in the struggle against colonialism. This study explores the history of the establishment of Pesantren Al-Hamidiyah in Pangkalan Village, Pangandaran, and its role in defending Indonesian independence. Conducted using academic historical research methods, the study follows five stages: topic selection, heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography. The findings reveal that the pesantren was founded by Kyai Abdul Hamid out of concern for the community’s limited understanding of Islamic teachings. After independence, the pesantren evolved into a center for consolidation and military training for students and local youth. Under Kyai Abdul Hamid’s leadership, the pesantren’s militia actively participated in resisting Dutch forces through guerrilla warfare and a strong spirit of jihad. Despite facing numerous challenges, Pesantren Al-Hamidiyah remained steadfast in its commitment to defending the nation’s independence
Ritual, Rasa, Raga: Menyelami Upacara Adat Pernikahan dalam Serat Centhini Jilid 6
Serat Centhini is recognised as a comprehensive compendium of Javanese culture, embracing a wide range of subjects including ethics, traditional recipes, and metaphysical teachings. This study specifically highlights the richness of descriptions of Javanese traditional wedding ceremonies in the Centhini Manuscript Volume 6, through the integration of three main dimensions, namely the symbolic (ritual), emotional (feelings), and physical (body) dimensions. The objective of this study is to identify the fundamental meaning behind each procession, to trace the traces of cultural transformation, and to affirm the relevance of these values to the spirituality of contemporary Javanese society. The text was analysed using a qualitative approach and literary hermeneutic methods, with the analysis being both descriptive and interpretative. The results of the analysis demonstrate that wedding ceremonies, particularly those involving Jayengresmi and Niken Tambangraras, exhibit a profound syncretism between Javanese traditions and Islamic values. Moreover, this procession evinces the symbolism of the body (raga), emotional experiences (rasa), and reflections on traditional gender constructs. Therefore, the wedding ceremony described in Serat Centhini is not merely a series of traditions, but rather a concrete manifestation of the relationship between humans and moral values, spirituality, and Javanese cultural identity, which is in a state of constant adaptation

DESIGNING SEQUENTIAL SPEAKING SYLLABI FOR HIGHER EDUCATION THROUGH AI-ENHANCED PBL
Indonesia's persistently low English Proficiency Index (EPI) is caused by limited literacy and traditional pedagogies, resulting in weak speaking competency. This study aimed to create sequential speaking course syllabi incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into Project-Based Learning (PBL) to enable enhanced speaking skills in higher education. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) design streamlined from Borg and Gall into three phases consisting of preliminary study, development, and validation. The study collected data through focus group discussions, interview, document analysis, and expert verification. Three syllabi were constructed on Speaking for Daily Purposes, Speaking at Workplace, and Speaking for Academic Purposes that were aligned with CEFR levels B1, B2, and C1. Validation employed two experts: an AI expert and a PBL-speaking expert. Scores indicate high feasibility, 90, 91, and 89 in AI expert scores, and 79.7 in PBL-speaking expert scores across syllabi, which are in the "Very Good" category. Revisions were done to order material, incorporate projects, and coordinate assignments to sufficiently address speaking skills. The originality lies in incorporating CEFR-based progression and AI tools in PBL to create oral competence as well as digital literacy and autonomous learning. These syllabi present a model for incorporating technology-supported, student-centered approaches into language teaching. Future research should examine effectiveness through classroom trials and broader implementation to gauge learning impacts and scalability
Humanistic education Management: A comparative Analysis of Indonesia’s KBC and Singapore’s CCE
This study examines the humanistic education management models implemented through Indonesia’s Love-Based Curriculum (KBC) and Singapore’s Character and Citizenship Education (CCE). Using a comparative analysis approach, the research explores the philosophical foundations, implementation patterns, and evaluation mechanisms of both curricula. The findings reveal that KBC emphasizes spiritual–religious values and the five forms of love as its core principles, resulting in a flexible and contextual curriculum oriented toward character formation through daily experiences. However, KBC still faces limitations in evaluation due to the absence of standardized assessment instruments. In contrast, Singapore’s CCE is supported by a comprehensive national framework, clear competency indicators, and structured assessments, enabling consistent implementation across schools. Despite their differences, both models share a common goal of fostering holistic learners. The study concludes that integrating Indonesia’s value-deepening approach with Singapore’s systematic evaluation model can enrich the development of humanistic education management in the future
Youth Participation in Volunteerism: The “Komunitas Milenial Bergerak” of Yogyakarta
Youth participation in volunteer activities is not always perceived positively, as young people are often considered to lack professional experience. The Milenial Bergerak Community in Yogyakarta serves as a platform for youth to engage in community-based volunteerism. This study aims to examine the factors that motivate youth participation in volunteer activities within the Milenial Bergerak Community. The research employed a qualitative approach using a case study method, involving nine informants consisting of board members and active volunteers from the first batch of the community. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that youth participation is driven by interrelated motivational factors based on functional motivation theory. The dominant motivation falls under the values category, reflecting altruistic intentions such as helping others, sharing happiness, and gaining inner satisfaction, followed by the understanding category, which emphasizes the desire to learn and expand social awareness. Other motivations identified include protective, enhancement, and career. The source of motivation is predominantly intrinsic, originating from internal personal values rather than external rewards. The dominance of intrinsic motivation suggests that the sustainability of youth volunteer movements is strongly influenced by personal meaning and social awareness, indicating the importance of strengthening reflective spaces and learning-oriented engagement within volunteer communitie
The Nature Of The Connection Between A Counselor's Effectiveness, Level Of Education, And Social Environment
This study investigates how the social environment and educational qualification influences the effectiveness of counsellors. The study adopted a correlational design. The population of the study comprised all 270 school practicing counsellors from 472 public schools in Delta State, Nigeria. All the 270 school practicing counsellors in Delta State were used as sample, because the size was manageable. A questionnaire was the tool utilized in this investigation. Two research questions and two hypotheses were used for the study. Drawing from empirical studies, it explores factors such as institutional support, community attitudes, resource availability, and socio-cultural dynamics. While previous literature often emphasizes the influence of environmental factors on counselling outcomes, this research critically evaluates whether such influence is statistically significant. Using empirical data, the study finds that counsellors’ effectiveness may be more strongly linked to personal competencies and institutional frameworks than to broader social environmental factors. The findings reveal a significant relationship between social environment and counsellors’ effectiveness. It also revealed that the effectiveness of counselors and their level of education are not significantly correlated. The findings suggest that the social environment plays a pivotal role in shaping counsellors’ performance, motivation, and impact. Some recommendations were made. Keywords: Counselor's Effectiveness, Level Of Education, Social Environmen
