    Various Learning Models to Improve Students' Mathematical Literacy Skills

    Mathematical literacy is the ability to understand, formulate, and apply mathematical concepts in everyday life, particularly in solving real-world problems. Key indicators include mathematical thinking, problem-solving, communication, representation, argumentation, and the use of media or technology. This study explores learning models that enhance students’ mathematical literacy through a literature review. The findings show that models such as Problem-Based Learning (PBL), guided inquiry, and Project-Based Learning (PjBL) are effective. These models, which emphasize real-world problems, independent exploration, and student collaboration, help develop critical and creative thinking and strengthen the connection between mathematics and daily life

    KEMAMPUAN KOMUNIKASI SISWA PADA MATA PELAJARAN SEJARAH KEBUDAYAAN ISLAM (SKI)

    Kemampuan komunikasi merupakan salah satu keterampilan penting abad ke-21 yang perlu dikembangkan pada peserta didik, termasuk dalam pembelajaran Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam (SKI). Namun, hasil observasi awal menunjukkan bahwa banyak siswa madrasah ibtidaiyah masih mengalami kesulitan dalam mengungkapkan pendapat, bertanya, maupun menjawab pertanyaan di kelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kebutuhan pembelajaran yang berkaitan dengan kemampuan komunikasi siswa dalam mata pelajaran SKI. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan mixed methods dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi dan wawancara terhadap guru serta siswa di MIN 1 Cirebon. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 65% siswa masih bersikap pasif selama proses pembelajaran. Faktor penyebabnya meliputi penggunaan metode ceramah, keterbatasan media visual, dan rendahnya rasa percaya diri siswa dalam berbicara. Guru menyatakan perlunya media yang lebih interaktif dan kontekstual untuk menumbuhkan keberanian siswa berkomunikasi.     Pergeseran Makna Tradisi Punjungan Dan Jagong Dalam Konsep Walimatul ‘Urs Pada Masyarakat Gunungkidul

    This research aims to explore the meaning of the punjungan and jagong traditions in the community of Gunungkidul, which will then be examined through the concept of walimatul ‘urs in Islam. This is an empirical study with a field research approach, meaning data collection through interviews and observations, and utilizing a qualitative, descriptive-analytic approach. The author will engage in dialogue with community leaders, religious leaders, and several people from Gunungkidul. The findings show that the punjungan and jagong traditions have become practices that are deeply embedded in the community. Several aspects highlighted in both traditions include the community's excessive behavior when organizing a walimatul ‘urs, which deviates from the guidelines set by Prophet Muhammad SAW regarding walimah. The punjungan, which was initially meant to express gratitude, is now viewed as a business opportunity to seek profit, as it is hoped that those who attend will contribute more money in the form of jagong. However, despite these issues, both traditions still have positive aspects, such as fostering a sense of mutual cooperation and compassion among the people of Gunungkidul

    The Perceptions and Attitudes of Students on the Intersectionality of Languages in Higher Education

    This research investigates students’ perceptions and attitudes towards the intersectionality of language in the context of higher education in South Africa. Through a qualitative approach, the study collected data using semi-structured interviews involving fifteen participants from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. The results of the thematic analysis revealed four key findings. First, the ongoing language barriers in the academic environment remain pronounced. Second, socio-cultural norms within communities have a significant influence on how individuals use language. Third, the implementation of multilingual policies advocated by institutions is still very limited and not optimal. Fourth, there is an urgency to build a stronger and more comprehensive support system for speakers from minority linguistic groups. Based on the theory of intersectionality, linguistic capital, and language ideology, this research shows how the enduring dominance of English continues to marginalize the role of indigenous languages and their speakers. These findings further underscore the significant gap between formally established language policies and the actual practices that occur on the ground. Therefore, systemic interventions are necessary to affirm and promote linguistic diversity. The conclusion of this study states that advancing multilingualism in higher education requires more than just written regulations. It demands the implementation of culturally responsive pedagogy, the availability of learning resources in various languages, and a genuine institutional commitment to achieving language equality. Without those supporting elements, multilingual policies will only be discourse without having any substantial impact.Persepsi dan Sikap Mahasiswa terhadap Interseksionalitas Bahasa di Pendidikan TinggiPenelitian ini menyelidiki persepsi dan sikap mahasiswa terhadap interseksionalitas bahasa dalam konteks pendidikan tinggi di Afrika Selatan. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif, studi ini mengumpulkan data menggunakan wawancara semi-terstruktur yang melibatkan lima belas orang peserta dari beragam latar belakang linguistik dan budaya. Hasil analisis tematik mengungkapkan empat temuan kunci. Pertama, hambatan bahasa yang terus-menerus terjadi di lingkungan akademik masih sangat terasa. Kedua, norma-norma sosial budaya dalam komunitas memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap cara seseorang menggunakan bahasa. Ketiga, implementasi kebijakan multilingual yang dicanangkan oleh institusi masih sangat terbatas dan belum optimal. Keempat, terdapat urgensi untuk membangun sistem pendukung yang lebih kuat dan komprehensif bagi para penutur dari kelompok linguistik minoritas. Dengan berlandaskan pada teori interseksionalitas, modal linguistik, dan ideologi bahasa, penelitian ini menunjukkan bagaimana dominasi bahasa Inggris yang masih sangat kental justru terus meminggirkan peran bahasa-bahasa pribumi serta para penuturnya. Temuan ini semakin menegaskan adanya kesenjangan yang lebar antara kebijakan bahasa yang ditetapkan secara formal dengan praktik nyata yang terjadi di lapangan. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan intervensi sistematis yang dapat mengafirmasi dan mempromosikan keanekaragaman bahasa. Simpulan dari studi ini menyatakan bahwa memajukan multilingualisme di perguruan tinggi memerlukan lebih dari sekadar peraturan tertulis. Hal ini menuntut diimplementasikannya pedagogi yang responsif secara budaya, ketersediaan sumber daya pembelajaran dalam berbagai bahasa, serta komitmen kelembagaan yang sungguh-sungguh untuk mewujudkan kesetaraan bahasa. Tanpa elemen-elemen pendukung tersebut, kebijakan multilingual hanya akan menjadi wacana tanpa memiliki dampak yang substansial

    The Construction of Masculinity in the “Typing Ganteng” Phenomenon on TikTok

    The phenomenon of ”typing ganteng” on social media, particularly TikTok, demonstrates that constructions of masculinity can be shaped through digital language styles. This study aims to explore how the ”typing ganteng” style, popularized by influencers and content creators on TikTok, shapes representations of masculinity. The method used was descriptive qualitative content analysis, utilizing purposive data from TikTok accounts producing content related to this phenomenon. The results show that through ”typing ganteng” content, influencers can establish standards of digital masculinity, as evidenced by stylistic characteristics such as the use of lowercase letters at the beginning of sentences, prolonged vowels, concise typing, and controlled humor. This style of language is considered attractive and masculine by women on social media, encouraging other users to imitate and conform to established norms. Findings indicate that the concept of masculinity in the digital age has shifted from traditional norms to new forms displayed through written interactions on social media. This study demonstrates that language functions as a cultural product that continues to evolve according to social expectations, enabling young men to display and negotiate masculine identities online. The study also highlights that perceptions of masculinity are relative; some male users adopt “typing ganteng” styles to gain social recognition, while others view masculinity as more flexible and individual. This research is expected to enrich sociolinguistic research and provide deeper insights into the relationship between language, gender, and social media culture.Konstruksi Maskulinitas dalam Fenomena “Typing Ganteng” di TikTokFenomena “typing ganteng” di media sosial, khususnya TikTok menunjukkan bahwa konstruksi maskulinitas dapat dibentuk melalui gaya bahasa digital. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi gaya “typing ganteng” yang dipopulerkan oleh influencer dan pencipta konten di TikTok dalam merepresentasikan maskulinitas. Metode penelitian menggunakan kualitatif deskriptif dengan memanfaatkan data purposif dari akun TikTok yang menghasilkan konten terkait fenomena ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa melalui konten “typing ganteng”, influencer dapat menetapkan standar maskulinitas secara digital, melalui penggunaan huruf kecil di awal kalimat, vocal yang diperpanjang, pengetikan yang ringkas, dan humor. Gaya bahasa ini dianggap menarik dan maskulin oleh Wanita di media sosial sehingga mendorong pengguna lain untuk meniru dan mematuhi norma tersebut. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsep maskulinitas di era digital telah bergeser dari norma tradisional ke bentuk baru yang ditampilkan melalui interaksi tertulis di media sosial. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa bahasa berfungsi sebagai produk budaya yang terus berkembang sesuai dengan harapan sosial sehingga memungkinkan laki-laki menampilkan dan menegosiasikan identitas maskulin secara daring. Studi ini juga menyoroti bahwa persepsi maskulinitas bersifat relatif. Beberapa pengguna laki-laki mengadopsi gaya “typing ganteng” untuk mendapatkan pengakuan sosial sementara yang lain memandang maskulinitas sebagai sesuatu yang fleksibel dan individual. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memperkaya penelitian sosiolinguistik dan memberi wawasan yang lebih dalam tentang hubungan antara bahasa, gender, dan budaya di media sosial

    Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis pengaruh pembelajaran berdiferensiasi terhadap keterampilan menulis puisi siswa. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan April 2025 di SMA Negeri 5 Cirebon selama dua minggu dengan dua kali pertemuan di kelas. Metode yang digunakan adalah mixed methods dengan desain convergent parallel. Sampel ditentukan secara acak, terdiri dari 33 siswa kelas XI.11 (kelas eksperimen) dan 26 siswa kelas XI.9 (kelas kontrol). Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi tes menulis puisi untuk memperoleh data kuantitatif. Lembar observasi, pedoman wawancara, serta angket untuk memperoleh data kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan keterampilan menulis puisi antara kelas eksperimen dan kontrol (p < 0,05), dengan hasil lebih tinggi pada kelas eksperimen. Pembelajaran berdiferensiasi berpengaruh positif terhadap keterampilan menulis puisi siswa SMA. Siswa yang berpartisipasi dalam pembelajaran berdiferensiasi memperlihatkan peningkatan kualitas dalam penulisan puisi dibandingkan dengan yang belajar secara konvensional. Selama pembelajaran, siswa menunjukkan keterlibatan aktif dan beragam sesuai dengan kebutuhan serta gaya belajar masing-masing. Persepsi siswa terhadap model ini cenderung positif karena mampu meningkatkan motivasi, kreativitas, dan pemahaman dalam menulis puisi. Implikasi praktis dari temuan ini, guru disarankan mengimplementasikan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi supaya responsif terhadap kebutuhan, minat, dan gaya belajar siswa.Differentiated Learning in Poetry Writing Skills in High SchoolThe purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of differentiated learning on students' poetry writing skills. The study was conducted in April 2025 at SMA Negeri 5 Cirebon for two weeks with two class meetings. The method used was mixed methods with a convergent parallel design. The sample was randomly determined, consisting of 33 students of grade XI.11 (experimental class) and 26 students of grade XI.9 (control class). The instruments used included a poetry writing test to obtain quantitative data. Observation sheets, interview guidelines, and questionnaires to obtain qualitative data. The results showed that there was a significant difference in poetry writing skills between the experimental and control classes (p < 0.05), with higher results in the experimental class. Differentiated learning had a positive effect on high school students' poetry writing skills. Students who participated in differentiated learning showed an increase in the quality of their poetry writing compared to those who learned conventionally. During learning, students showed active and varied involvement according to their individual needs and learning styles. Students' perceptions of this model tended to be positive because it was able to increase motivation, creativity, and understanding in writing poetry. The practical implication of this finding is that teachers are advised to implement differentiated learning to be responsive to students' needs, interests, and learning styles

    The Effectiveness of the Sandpaper Latters Teaching Method in the Development of Children's Literacy in Islamic Plus Mutiara Kindergarten

    This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the application of the sandpaper letters method in improving early childhood literacy skills in Islamic Plus Mutiara Kindergarten in Bantul. This method uses a multisensory approach that allows children to recognize letters through the activity of seeing, touching, and tracing the shape of letters made from textured materials such as sandpaper. The research approach used is qualitative descriptive, with the research subjects consisting of group B children aged 5–6 years, classroom teachers, and school principals. Data was collected through observations, interviews, and documentation of learning activities. The results of the study show that the use of the sandy letter method has a significant positive influence on children's early literacy skills. Before learning, only 6 out of 15 children (40%) were able to recognize the initial letters correctly. After four meetings using this method, the number increased to 13 children (86%). In writing skills, an increase was also seen from 4 children (27%) to 12 children (80%) who were able to imitate letter shapes correctly. In addition, the child's concentration level increased from 33% to 73%, and the child's confidence increased from 30% to 75%. This improvement suggests that the sandy letter method not only supports cognitive development, but also the affective and psychomotor aspects of the child. Overall, the sandpaper letters method  has proven to be effective in developing early childhood reading and writing skills in a fun and meaningful way, and can be an alternative learning medium that supports the implementation of the Independent Curriculum based on the Montessori approach

    Contextual Teaching and Learning for Teacher Professionalism in Inclusive Early Childhood Education

    Inclusive early childhood education requires teachers to possess professional competencies in managing diverse learner needs, yet many kindergarten teachers lack adequate training in implementing effective inclusive pedagogies. This study investigated the implementation of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) to enhance teacher professionalism in managing inclusive classrooms at Darul Falah Islamic Kindergarten, East Kutai Regency, Indonesia. Employing a School Action Research design across two cycles with four instructional sessions, the study involved two kindergarten teachers and utilized structured observation instruments validated by expert reviewers. Data were analyzed using both quantitative methods (percentage calculations with predetermined success criteria) and qualitative approaches (thematic analysis following Miles and Huberman's framework). Results demonstrated substantial improvements in teacher implementation proficiency, increasing from 66.66% in Cycle I Meeting 1 to 86.66% in Cycle II Meeting 2, while student engagement levels improved from 53.33% to 83.33% across the same period. Both metrics exceeded the 80% success threshold by the intervention's conclusion. The iterative cycles of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection enabled teachers to progressively develop competencies in connecting curriculum content with students' lived experiences, facilitating collaborative learning communities, and employing authentic assessment strategies. These findings provide empirical evidence supporting CTL as an effective approach for enhancing teacher professionalism in inclusive kindergarten contexts, with significant implications for teacher education programs and professional development policies

    Analisis Penerapan Pembelajaran Berbasis Moderasi Beragama Dalam Membentuk Paham Inklusif Santri

    AbstractThis study aims to analyze the implementation of religious moderation-based learning in shaping inclusive understanding among students at SMA Ali Maksum Krapyak Yogyakarta. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that teachers consistently integrate values of moderation such as tawassuth (moderation), tasamuh (tolerance), and i’tidal (justice) into the learning process, particularly in Islamic Religious Education and History subjects. The teaching methods are dialogical and contextual, creating an inclusive learning environment that embraces cultural diversity. Social interactions between teachers and students reflect an affirming and validating atmosphere toward diverse cultural backgrounds. Students’ responses indicate an internalization of moderation values, resulting in attitudinal changes toward greater openness and tolerance. The main supporting factors stem from the school culture and collaborative pesantren environment, while challenges arise from uncontrolled digital information flows and exclusive religious understandings brought by some students. This study confirms that religious moderation-based learning is effective in shaping an inclusive, tolerant, and socially adaptive generation of students in a religiously diverse societ
