In today's society, sustainable development has become increasingly important. This is reflected in public debates, political guidelines and in business models. One aspect of sustainable development is environmental sustainability, which aims to minimize resource use and create a more sustainable consumption. The construction sector currently accounts for a significant amount of the waste generated in society. Despite materials still meeting technical standards and functional requirements for reuse, they are often sent to landfill or energy recovery. Through digital solutions such as a marketplace platform for reuse, it is possible to make reused materials visible. In this way new material flows are created and the amount of waste generated in the construction sector is reduced. Clients within the construction sector have a significant influence on the type of materials used in a project. This study aims to investigate how a digital marketplace should be designed to meet the needs of clients in the construction sector in Dalarna. The study is qualitative and includes a literature review, an observations and an interviews for collection of data. The results show varied needs which partly differ between private and public clients. Some of the needs identified include inventory tools to coordinate and visualize materials that clients possess internally. Additional needs include an open marketplace that is easy to navigate and clearly displays available materials. The results also show that some of the clients needs are partially met by existing digital marketplace platforms. Graphic Identity for an Incentive-Based Platform : The development process for a clear and engaging visual identity
This study explores the development of a graphic identity for a startup company, that's focused on incentive-based feedback platforms, to enhance its brand recognition. The research question investigates how the target audience interprets and experiences the logo, color palette, typography, and symbols designed for the company. A qualitative approach, grounded in Sless model for visual communication, was used, combining semi-structured interviews, prototyping, and a survey to gather data from potential users and stakeholders. The process involved iterative design phases, including benchmarking and thematic analysis of feedback. Results indicate that the proposed graphic identity, comprising a modern logo and cohesive visual elements, is perceived as professional, trustworthy, and aligned with the company’s values of innovation and engagement. The study concludes that graphic identity can contribute to a stronger brand profile, as confirmed by the target group's positive response in surveys and interviews.
This thesis analyzes Kalaf Epalanga’s Whites Can Dance Too, a semi-autobiographical novel that explores Black identity, cultural authorship, and visibility of the Black man in contemporary Europe. Through a close reading of the novel, the study investigates how language, music, and community operate as strategies of resistance and self-definition within a racialized European context. The research addresses two central questions: In what ways does the novel challenge Black invisibility in a predominantly white European society? And how does the shared use of Portuguese enable cultural continuity and musical reinvention among diasporic communities? Drawing on theories by Frantz Fanon, Édouard Glissant, and bell hooks, the analysis reveals how Epalanga resists the dominant gaze and constructs a relational, transnational identity grounded in Afro-diasporic experience.
When Standby Citizens Step In : The Role of Institutional Factors in Triggering Youth Political Participation
Accusations of political passivity are often directed towards citizens, especially the youth. This study challenges the prevailing narrative by exploring the latent dimensions of political participation, and in particular the role of ‘standby citizens’, that is, those who are politically interested yet non-participatory. We propose that these individuals engage in behavioural activism when they perceive governmental actions as failing to meet their needs and demands. To test this hypothesis, we utilized a longitudinal sample of adolescents, classifying them into four distinct groups: active, standby, unengaged and other. We examined the transitions between these groups over time. Our findings indicate that standby adolescents are significantly more likely to shift towards active participation and less likely to become completely disengaged. Specifically, those who moved from standby to active status reported a significant decline in satisfaction with government performance over time, while their counterparts who remained in the standby mode did not show such changes
Empathy as a Strategy : Audience Engagement with Joe Goldberg from You
This study looks at how viewers react to Joe Goldberg, the main character from You (Berlanti & Gamble, 2018-2025), based on discussions on TikTok and Reddit. Using a netnographic approach, the study shows that reactions are divided: some viewers feel sympathy for Joe, mainly because the story is told from his perspective, while others reject him, arguing that the series romanticizes harmful behaviors tied to masculinity and power. The study highlights how people’s interpretations of morally complex characters are shaped by the way the story is told, their own values, and the conversations happening online. Sympathy for Joe often comes from him being the central character, but viewers also reflect on and criticize the messages the show sends. Feminist and social perspectives often come up in discussions, with many connecting the show to real-life issues like power and violence in relationships. Overall, the study shows that audience interpretations continue to evolve through online discussions, and moral questions live on long after the show ends
Assessing Sexual and Reproductive Health Care Provision in Ukraine : A Scoping Review Through the Lens of the “Minimum Initial Service Package Framework”
This essay highlights the significant gaps in the provision of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services in Ukraine, despite the implementation of the Minimum Initial Service Package by government and nongovernment organizations. Key barriers, including supply chain disruptions and discrimination, hinder access to SRH services, particularly in conflict-affected areas. While sufficient supplies and response mechanisms exist, persistent challenges in funding, logistics, and equitable access remain. The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has exacerbated these issues, underscoring the urgent need for sustained international support and effective resource allocation; not the least in light of recent international politically induced changes affecting Ukraine. These findings highlight the importance of addressing both structural and social determinants of health and call for comprehensive strategies to improve SRH services in crisis settings. The findings of this essay, derived from a scoping review, can guide global health policies to ensure equitable and dependable access to sexual and reproductive health services for vulnerable populations during humanitarian emergencie

Unlocking the potential of traditional birth attendants in Somaliland : a qualitative study on healthcare system integration
OBJECTIVES: The roles and functions of traditional birth attendants in the community and in relation to the formal healthcare system have to the best of our knowledge, not previously been explored in Somaliland. This study aimed to explore the past and current roles and practices of traditional birth attendants from the traditional birth attendants' perspective. DESIGN: An exploratory study was conducted using purposive sampling technique first followed by snowballing technique from January to December 2023. SETTING: Somaliland rural communities in the six regions of the country. PARTICIPANTS: Traditional birth attendants from all six regions of Somaliland were interviewed. Thematic analysis inspired by Braun and Clarke was used to analyse the data. RESULTS: Traditional birth attendants were historically involved in pregnancy care, childbirth and the practice of female genital mutilation/cutting. Their role has undergone a significant shift in recent years. Traditional birth attendants are increasingly acting as vital links between the community and the formal healthcare system. They report that they have maintained strong trust within their communities, which positions them as effective mediators in promoting access to professional maternal and reproductive health services. CONCLUSION: Traditional birth attendants are becoming trusted intermediaries between the community and the formal healthcare system. In the pursuit of universal health coverage and the goal of delivering high-quality, equitable care for all, leveraging traditional birth attendants as part of a broader midwifery-led care model offers a cost-effective strategy in the Somaliland context
