PENGEMBANGAN GEL EKSTRAK ETANOL CABAI RAWIT (Capsicum frutescence L)
Chili Pepper (Capsicum frutescence L) is a plant that can be used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Chemical constituents contained in chili pepper is capsaicin, it was stimulate the nerves that can relieve pain. The purpose of this study was to determine the gel formulation of the ethanol extract of cayenne pepper which has optimal stability by using a variation of the base. In this study, the ethanol extract of cayenne pepper (2.5%) was made using synthetic gel base (carbopol) and semisynthetic gel base (sodium carboxymethylcellulose). Evaluation of the physical stability was tested using stress conditions method. The stability parameters were determined by organoleptic, viscosity and flow type. The ethanol extract of chili pepper was successfully created gel form by using 5% of sodium carboxymethylcellulose and 1% of carbopol as a gelling agent. There was no significant change of two formulas in stability evaluation before and after of the storage condition
PENETAPAN KADAR FLAVONOID TOTAL EKSTRAK DAUN CENGKEH (Syzygium aromaticum (L.) Merr & Perry)
Clove (Syzygium aromaticum (L.) Merr & Perry) is one of the plants used as medicine, society used leaves as anti-inflammatory drugs at the time of toothache, which at the leaf contained flavonoids. The aim of this study is to determine the content of total flavonoid of ethanol extract clove leaf (EECL). Clove leaf was extracted using maceration method with ethanol as a solvent during at 3 x 24 hours. Analysis qualitative of flavonoids compound using thin layer chromatography method. Determination of total flavonoids content of clove leaves using spectrophotometri UV-Vis method λ 418 nm. The result of the research with rendamen yield of EECL were 16,1134%, and total flavonoids content is 73,08 mgRE/g extract with persentation 7,308%
STUDI KOMPARASI KADAR FLAVONOID TOTAL PADA BUNGA ROSELLA MERAH (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) ASAL KABUPATEN LUWU UTARA PROVINSI SULAWESI SELATAN DAN KABUPATEN KEDIRI PROVINSI JAWA TIMUR
Red Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) is a medicinal plant used by the public as drugs. This plant is efficacious because one contains chemical constituents are flavonoids. Comparative Study of total Flavonoid content in red Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) from North Luwu district of South Sulawesi province and the province of East Java Kediri district has done. The aim of study to determine of total flavonoid content in Kediri regency and district of North Luwu using a spectrophotometer. Extraction is done by maceration method using 96% ethanol. Phytochemical screening using the color reaction identification and determine content of Colorimetric method using UV-Vis spectrophotometry at the maximum wavelength of 417 nm. Meanwhile the yield extract red Rosellafrom Kediri (sample I) 12.703% and red Rosella from north Luwu (sample II) 10.44%. Test phytochemical to sample I and sample II positive containing Flavonoids. Test total Flavonoid content to sample I is 0.02816% and sample II is 0.2075%
UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIINFLAMASI DARI EKSTRAK METANOL DAUN NANGKA (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam.) TERHADAP TIKUS YANG DIINDUKSI KARAGENAN LAMBDA
Inflammation is body response to prevent infection or tissue damage caused toxin or microbe in the body. Inflammation is usually treated with drugs known as NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammation drugs). However, the treatment with NSAID drugs often has side effects such as stomach irritation. Lately, the researchers are very aggressively finding an alternative therapy in treating inflammation by using medical herbal. The purpose of this study was to determine an anti-inflammatory activity of jackfruit leaves (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam.) in male rats. Animal models were made by induced lambda carrageenan by intraplantar. This study consist of 4 groups: negative control (Na-CMC), methylprednisolone dose 45 mg / kg, methanol extract of jackfruit leaves (EMDN) doses 75 mg / kg and 150 mg / kg. Parameters were tested by measuring the volume of feet for 8 hours after induction of carrageenan using the plethysmometer. The results showed that the methanol extract of jackfruit leaves (EMDN) dose of 150 mg/kgbw has anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting oedema in rats with 55.4% better than methanol extract of jackfruit leaves (EMDN) dose of 75 mg/kgbw with 23.9%
UJI EFEK HIPOGLIKEMIK EKSTRAK ETANOL BUAH SAWO MANILA (Manilkara zapota) PADA MENCIT JANTAN YANG DIINDUKSI ALOKSAN
Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder of carbohydrate, fat and protein that is characterized of hyperglycemia. Manila sapodilla (Manilkara zapota) empirically has been used by people as a traditional medicine. This study aims to determine the hypoglycemic effects and an effective concentration of ethanol extract manila sapodilla fruit as hypoglycemic on male mice induced by alloxan. The group of test animals consisted of 25 mice balb / c males were divided into 5 groups. Negative control group Na.CMC suspension 1% w / v, the comparison group glibenclamide 0.65 mg/kgbw, and group 3, 4, and 5 are a group of ethanol extract manila sapodilla fruit (EBSM) at a doses of 250 mg/kgbw, 500 mg/kgbw, and 750 mg/kgbw. Before treatment all test animals alloxan induced a dose of 150 mg/kgbw intraperitoneally (i.p). Given the test preparation is done orally once daily for 21 days. Blood collection from tail vein of mice on day 1 (h- 3rd), -3, -7, -11, -14, -17 and days 21 during treatment. Measurement of blood glucose levels is done before induction as early glucose levels, glucose levels after induction as diabetes mellitus, and after the end of therapy as glucose levels. The results were analyzed statistically by t-test and one-way ANOVA. Results showed EBSM a dose of 250 mg/kgbw showed no significant different compared to glibenclamide suspension. From this study it can be concluded that manila sapodilla fruit extract has hypoglycemic effects with an effective dose of 250 mg/kgbw. Keywords : Hyperglycemia, Manilkara zapota, male mice, alloxan
UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIOKSIDAN EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN TOMAT BUAH (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill, var. pyriforme Alef) DAN DAUN TOMAT SAYUR (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill, var. commune Bailey) DENGAN METODE DPPH (1,1-Diphenyl-2-Picryl Hydrazil)
Antioxidant are chemical compounds that can donate one or more electrons to free radicals, so that the free radical reaction is inhibited. Generally, the compounds that have potential as an antioxidant are flavonoids, phenolics and alkaloids. Leaves of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) are plants that contain alkaloid. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of leaves of fruit tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill, var. pyriforme Alef.) and leaves of vegetable tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill, var. commune Bailey.) with DPPH method (1,1-Diphenyl-2-Picryl Hydrazil). Ethanol extract is obtained by extracting the leaves of friut tomato powder (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill, var. pyriforme Alef.) and the leaves of vegetable tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill, var. commune Bailey.) with maceration. Antioxidant activity was measured using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer with maximum absorption wavelength is 514 nm. Readable absorbance is used to calculate % inhibition and IC50. The results showed that the samples of the leaves of fruit tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill, var. pyriforme Alef.) and leaves of vegetable tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill, var. commune Bailey.) have antioxidant activity with IC50 values of each of 279.482 µg/mL and 280.190 µg/mL. This shows the ethanol extract of leaves of fruit tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill, var. pyriforme Alef.) and leaves of vegetable tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill, var. commune Bailey.) has a very weak activity as an antioxidant
PENGARUH PEMBERIAN EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN BUAS-BUAS (Premna cordifolia. LINN) TERHADAP KADAR MDA TIKUS WISTAR JANTAN PASCA PAPARAN ASAP ROKOK
Free radical from cigarrete smoke can cause lipid peroxidation that could lead to tissue damage. Tissue damage can be identified by increased levels of MDA (Malondialdehyde). Leavesof buas-buas (Premna cordifolia. Linn) has an antioxidant activity in invitro study. This study aimed to analyze the effect of P. cordifolia leaves extract on the levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) after exposure to cigarette smoke. The simplicia extracted by maseration using 70% ethanol. Twenty four wistar strain of Rattus novergicus were divided into six groups , i.e. : normal group without any treatment, positive control group with cigarette smoke exposure and vitamin e treatment, negative control groupwith only cigarette smoke exposure, treatment groupwith cigarette smoke exposure and ethanolic extract from P. cordifolialeaves with doses 200; 400; 600 mg/kg of body weight/day. All rats were treated for 14 days using 3 cigarette non filetered each day. After 14 days, plasma MDA was measured in this research. Measurement of plasma MDA are using Spectrophotometer UV-Vis in 532.2 nm. MDA level in this study was analyzed by the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney test. The result showed that plasma MDA level of groupreceived ethanol extract of P. cordifolia leaves doses at 600 mg/kg of body weight/day significantly (p<0.05)lower than negative control group and not significantly differ (p<0.05) to normal group and positive control group
ISOLASI DAN IDENTIFIKASI GOLONGAN KIMIA AKTIF ANTIOKSIDAN EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN JAMBU METE (Anacardium occidentale L.)
Has been carried out isolation and identification of active chemical groups ethanol extract antioxidant Cashew Leaves (Anacardium occidentale L.) in aims is determine the class of the active antioxidant compounds from ethanol extract of Cashew Leaves (Anacardium occidentale L.). Sample of 400 grams of macerated with ethanol produces dry extract 20.087 grams. Dry done profile TLC plate and then eluted with eluent n-hexane: ethyl acetate (6:4), and then sprayed DPPH to determine antioxidant compounds. Ethanol extracts was than isolated using vacum liquid chromatography column with n-exane, eluent ratio of n-hexane: ethyl acetate (9:1,8:2,7:3, 6:4, 5:5, 4:6, 3: 7, 2:8, 1:9) and ethyl acetate. XI fractions obtained, then sprayed with DPPH fraction VI showed the most intense antioxidant activity. Results isolates obtained were then identified using uv-vis spectroscopy showed maximum absorption at a wavelength of 424.50 nm, Infrared spectroscopy showed absorbance at wave number 3393.18 cm-1 shows possibility the O-H group reinforced the wave number 1102.20 which indicates the possibility of a C-O group, te wave number 2923,44 cm-1 shows possibility the C-H (aromatic), the wave number 1555.13 cm-1 which indicates the possibility of a cluster C = C, as well as identification by using specific reagents. PENGARUH VARIASI KONSENTRASI CAIRAN PENYARI ETANOL TERHADAP KADAR POLIFENOL PADA DAUN BIDURI (Calotropis gigantea L.)
Effect of ethanol concentration variations on levels of polyphenols in the Biduri leaves extract (Calotropis gigantea L.), with the aim to determine the concentration of ethanol that produce high levels of polyphenols maximum on Biduri leaves extract (Calotropis gigantea L.). The method used in the form of laboratory experimental method, which leaves Biduri (Calotropis gigantea L.) is made in the form of extracts by using a variation of ethanol that is 50% ethanol, 70% and 96%, then the variation of the extract polyphenols quantitative test conducted using standard gallat acid and Folin -ciocalteau reagen with UV-VIS spectrophotometry method. The results of quantitative analysis by UV-VIS spectrophotometry method at the maximum wavelength 730 nm, obtained polyphenol content of 50% ethanol to extract mgGAE 11.14 / gram extract, 70% ethanol extract mg GAE 16.20 / gram extract, and 96% ethanol extract 11 , 72 mgGAE / gram of extract. Maximum levels of polyphenols contained in the ethanol extract with a concentration of 70%. PENGARUH PEMBERIAN EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN BAWANG MEKAH (Eleutherine Americana Merr.) TERHADAP KADAR MALONDIALDEHYDE TIKUS WISTAR (Rattus norvegicus) JANTAN PASCA PAPARAN ASAP ROKOK
Malondialdehyde (MDA) is a biomarker of lipid peroxidation that is closely correlated with level of oxidative stress. The aim of this study was to know ethanol extract activities from E. americana leaves against blood plasma MDA in male Wistar rats exposed by cigarette smoke using tiobarbituric acid test. The simplicia extracted by maseration using 70% ethanol. Twenty four rats were divided into six groups, i.e. : a normal group, an exposed cigarette smoke (negative) control group, a positive control group and three treatment groups. One normal group received carboxyl methyl cellulose and another groups exposed cigarette smoke during 14 days. Positive control group received vitamin E (18mg/kg BW), and another groups received ethanol extract of E. americana leaves doses 180; 90; 45mg/kg BW, respectively. The MDA level was analysed by spectrophotometer UV-Visible in 532,2 nm. The MDA level statically analysis by Kruskal-Wallis test and following by Mann-Whitney test. The mean MDA levels of normal group, negative control group, positive control group and groups received ethanol extract of E. americana leaves doses 180; 90; 45mg/kg BW were 0,11±0,09; 13,74±2,84; 0,06±0,03; 10,88±2,19; 0,13±0,03; 0,03±0,02 ppm. The mean MDA levels of groups received ethanol extract of E. americana leaves doses at 180; 90mg/kg BW significantly (p<0,05) lower than negative control group. These results show the beneficial effect of ethanol extract of E. americana leaves in the MDA level reducing on the rats that exposed by cigarette
