    KARAKTERISASI DAN SKRINING FITOKIMIA SIMPLISIA BUAH SELUTUI PUKA (Tabernaemontana macracarpa Jack)

    Selutui puka (Tabernaemontana macrocarpa Jack) is a medicinal plant that grows in forests and river banks. This plant can be found in West Kutai, East Kalimantan. Empirically, the use of selutui puka fruit is used as a medicine for toothache and canker sores by boiling it, the cooking water is used by stew. The importance of simplicia characterization is to determine the quality of simplicia which will become the standard for traditional medicine. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of simplicia powder from selutui puka fruit and to determine the class of chemical compounds contained in selutui puka fruit. This research is non experimental. The research starts from sampling, determination, making simplicia, characterization which includes macroscopic test, microscopic test, determination of moisture content, soluble ethanol extract content, water soluble extract content, moisture content, ash content, acid insoluble ash content and phytochemical screening. Data were analyzed using descriptive methods.Macroscopic and organoleptic characterization of simplicia powder has a distinctive aroma (aromatic), bitter fruit flavor, yellowish-brown simplicia powder, white meat, hard and runny meat. Microscopic results of simplicia powder are found in the endocarp, wooden vessels in the form of stairs, trachea, and cork tissue. The level of dissolved ethanol extract was 36%, water juice content was 47%, water content was 8%, ash content was 4.36%, acid insoluble ash content was 0.57%. The results of phytochemical screening contain alkaloids, saponins, and flavonoids

    Mahogany seeds (Swietenia mahagoni Jacq.) Have many benefits as drugs such as febrifuge, diabetes (Diabetes Mellitus), high blood pressure, fat decay, colds, colitis, diarrhea, wounds, and ulcers. Swietenia mahagoni Jacq Contain steroid compounds. This study aims to determine the characterization of steroid compounds isolated from mahogany seed extract (Swietenia mahagoni Jacq.). Extracts were obtained from maceration processes using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol 70% solvents with percent of rendament of 6.34%, 7.34%, and 8% respectively. The test results for the chemical content of ethyl acetate extract positively contained steroids. 5 grams of extract was carried out using conventional column chromatography to produce 6 fractions. Fraction 6 were selected and continued with preparative thin layer chromotography and produced 2 isolates. Isolates P2b which showed one tonggal stain on the TLC profile with a value of Rf 0.50 were continued to be analyzed by UV-Vis and FT-IR spectrophotometry.The results of UV-Vis spectrophotometric isolates P2b had maximal absorption at a wavelength of 253.50 nm. FT-IR data shows the presence of functional groups C-H, C-O, C = O, C = C, and O-H whichare thought to be steroid compounds

    One type of pollution that must be taken into concern is lead metal (Pb) as an element that is harmful to humans. Croton leaves contain tannin chemical compounds that able to bind lead (Pb). The research aimed to determine to potency of croton leaves as an adsorbent of lead (Pb). The research used a metal content measurement method based on the adsorption of croton leaves by atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS). The results showed that the absorption of lead was based on 3 gram concentrations in the samples, namely sample (1) 0.1181 gram of 1.9991 µg/g, sample (2) 0.3179 gram    of 0.0871 µg/g and sample (3) 0.5117 gram of 0.2171 µg/g. in the use of parameter of the sample concentration it is indicated that at mass 0.1181 gram, the lead metal content showed a maximum absorption of 1.9991 µg/g sample

    This study aims to product the preparation effevecsent granule  using variation of ethanol extract avocado seed (Persea americana Mill.) as antidiabetic using granulation method. This study was conducted using two formulas using variation of ethanol extract avocado seed (Persea americana Mill.) 1% and 10%, PVP K30 4%, Sodium cyclamate 0.1%, citric acid 0.2965 gram, tartric acid 0.5931 gram and sodium bicarbonate 1.0083 gram. The test results of evaluation preparation effevecsent granule  using variation of ethanol extract avocado seed (Persea americana Mill.) showing that formulas 2 (two) is the best the result farmaceutic evaluation obtained with value Densitas Bulk = 2.82, Incompressible Density = 0.353, Carr’s Indeks = 17.12, Silent Angle = 19.790, Flow Time = 0.7, Time of Stopping Foam = 1.15. The test results of antidiabetic at in vivo formulas 2 (two) preparation effevecsent granule of ethanol extract avocado seed (Persea americana Mill.) using male mice (Mus musculus) with weight 176.5 mg, Initial Glucose Level = 87.5, Initial Glucose Induction = 249.5 obtained time of giving theraphy of formula at first day = 248.5, second day = 133, five day = 109 and seven day = 75.5, so preparation effevecsent granule of ethanol extract avocado seed (Persea americana Mill.) effective as antidiabetic

    FORMULASI DAN UJI STABILITAS FISIK SEDIAAN EMULSI MINYAK IKAN LEMURU (Sardinella lemuru)

    Lemuru fish (Sardinella lemuru), a small type of pelagic fish, is often found in Indonesia. Lemuru fish oil contains high omega-3 which is benecficial for health. One effort that can be done to optimize the benefits of lemuru fish oil is formulated as an emulsion dosage form. The purpose of this study was to determine the formula and physical stability of the lemuru fish oil emulsion. The method in this study included preparation of emulsions with varian concentration of fish oil (F1: 5%, F2: 10%, and F3: 15%) using natural emulgators (gummi arabicum) and physical stability tests carried out at two temperature variations, 25oC and 40oC for 30 days. Physical stability tests included organoleptic, homogeneity, emulsion type, viscosity, pH, and the size of the average globule. The organoleptic test results showed that the three formulas showed phase separation at different time points at both the storage temperatures. The viscosity test results showed that the viscosity of the three formulas has decreased during the storage period. In the emulsion type test it was shown that all three formulas had an oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion type. The pH test results indicated fluctuations during the storage period. The average globul size test results showed that the F3 emulsion formula has a larger average globule size than F1 and F2. In conclusion, the most stable formula was F3 that containing 15% fish oil. F3 was stable for more than 21 days at 25oC and more than 14 days at 40oC

    Red fruit (Pandanus conoideus Lam.) belongs to genus Pandanus. Red fruit oil has the activity as an antibacterial. The research aimed to obtain endophytic fungi isolates on the red fruit peel and assay the antibacterial activity by TLC-Bioautography. The research was experimentally conducted including the process of isolation of endophytic fungi, purification, macroscopic examination, screening for antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhi, fermentation for 7, 14 and 21 days, separation and antibacterial assay by TLC-Bioautography against Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhi, the isolate fermentate of endophytic fungi for 7 days showed an Rf value of 0.49 against Staphylococcus aureus and an 0.47 against Salmonella typhi. The isolate fermentate of endophytic fungi for 14 days showed an Rf value of 0.58 against Staphylococcus aureus and an 0.69 against Salmonella typhi. The isolate fermentate of endophytic fungi for 21 days showed an Rf value of 0.69 against Staphylococcus aureus and an 0.67 against Salmonella typhi. In conclusion, red fruit peel had endophytic fungi isolate with the potency as an antibacterial

    Diabetes mellitus is a health problem in the world including Indonesia. A lot of treatment efforts to control and lowering blood sugar levels done with drugs hypoglycemic of natural materials. This research was conduct to determine the combination of extract cabbage (Brassica oleracea L.) and tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) have activity antidiabetic and more effective than extract single. Study performed on four comparison concentration sample extract ethanol cabbage and tomato are 1: 0; 2: 1; 1: 2 and 0: 1. Method wich is use in this study the method of Nelson-Somogyi by using the instrument spectrophotometer UV-Vis. Decline glucose levels highest obtained in the concentration of extract cabbage and tomato with the ratio of 1: 2 is 4,5165 ppm and decrease in glucose levels lowest obtained in the concentration of extract cabbage and tomato with the ratio of 1: 0 is 5,1613 ppm

    This study aims to find the antimicrobial activity of a combination of extract propolis Trigona sp and gingger (Zingiber officinale var ROSCOE) against Salmonella thypimurium. The test was carried out by the method of diffusion disc with propolis and ginger test material. The study was conducted with 10 groups treatment, namely the combination of K1 (1mL ginger (30%)), K2 (1mL ginger (30)% & 1mL propolis (1%)), K3 (Ginger 1 mL (30%) & propolis 1 mL (5% ), K4 (1mL ginger (15%)) K5 (1mL ginger (15%) & 1mL propolis (1%)), K6 (1mL ginger (15%) & 1 mL propolis (5%)), K7 (1 mL propolis 1 %), K8 (1 mL propolis 5%), negative control K9 (DMSO 10%), and K10 (positive control amoxicillin). The results showed that the combination extract of propolis and ginger on K3 had the highest inhibition area of Salmonella thypimurium 12.26 mm. This study proves that various combinations of concentrations of propolis and ginger extract have antibacterial activity against the growth of Salmonella typhimurium

    Gambir mempunyai kemampuan dapat membunuh ataupun menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri. Jahe memiliki kandungan flavonoid dan gingerol yang mempunyai aktivitas antibakteri untuk mulut dan gusi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat sediaan tablet hisap kombinasi katekin gambir dan jahe dengan variasi jenis pengikat PVP dan Gom arab. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa formula terbaik dari setiap jenis pengikat yaitu formula dengan pengikat gom arab 10% dan formula dengan pengikat PVP K-30 7%. Berdasarkan kemudahan dalam proses granulasi dipilih formula dengan konsentrasi PVP K-30 7% sebagai formula terbaik dengan hasil rata-rata keseragaman bobot tablet 2,0406 g, ukuran tebal 58,9 mm, diameter 21,95 mm, kekerasan 23,63 kp, friabilita 0,14% dan waktu hancur 28 menit 62 detik. Hasil pengujian kadar flavonoid total terhadap ekstrak kering jahe sebesar 2,71 % dan sediaan tablet hisap 2,32%

    AKTIVITAS ANTIJAMUR EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN KESUM (Polygonum minus Huds.) TERHADAP Microsporum canis

    Dermatophytosis is a fungal infection caused by one of the superfixial mycoses, namely dermatophytes. Microsporum canis is one of the dermatophyte species that can infect hair, skin, leg and thighs. Kesum plants (Polygonum minus Huds.) are endemic plants of West Kalimantan that have many bioactive compounds from the roots to the leaves. The leaves of kesum contain secondary metabolites which can inhibit fungi growth. This research had purpose to know  the antifungal activity of kesum leaves’ ethanol extracts on Microsporum canis. The kesum leaves’ extraction  used maceration method with 96% ethanol as a solvent. Analysis secondary matbolites of kesum leaves’ secondary metabolites used tube test and thin layer chromatography. Antifungal activity test used Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method with 5 extract concentration variantions i.e. 80, 40%, 20%, 10%, and 5%. Itraconazole 8 µg/disk was used as a positive control and DMSO 10% was used as a negative control. Kesum leaves’ ethanol extract was obtained saponin, flavonoid, alkaloid, therpenoid, and phenol. Ethanol extracts of kesum leaves did not create zone of inhibition against Microsporum canis. Ethanol extracts of kesum leaves didn’t have antifungal activity against Microsporum canis
