    Purple leaves contain flavonoids as anti-inflammatory. Aloe vera contains lignin compounds as bioenchancers. Utilization of these two plants in the form of topical emulgel preparations with the hope of being able to reach the systemic circulation. This study aims to formulate purple leaf extract and aloe vera extract in the form of an emulgel. The formula was made in 4 variations with concentrations of aloe vera extract F0 (0%), F1 (2.5%), F2 (3%), F3 (3.5%). Quality parameters include organoleptic, pH, spreadability, viscosity, cycling test, and penetration test using cell diffusion method franz. The results showed that the aloe vera extract emulgel formulation had good physical quality, namely organoleptic viscous green color, characteristic aromatic odor, pH 4.66-5.01, spreadability 5.63-6.03 cm2, viscosity 8100-9100 cPs. The results of the stability cycling test did not show changes in organoleptic and pH of the preparation, while the viscosity of the preparation decreased. Penetration test results based on statistical analysis of purple leaf extract emulgel obtained p> 0.05, which means that the addition of aloe vera extract bioenhancer did not have a significant effect on the value of the cumulative amount and flux.Keywords: emulgel, bioenchancer, penetration, franz diffusion cel

    Antibacterial Activity of Ethanol Extract of Qust Al Hindi Plant Root (Saussurea Lappa) Against Bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli by TLC-Bioautography

    The Indian Costus plant (Saussurea lappa) possesses the ability as an antibacterial, which contains alkaloid compounds, whereas this study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of Indian Costus plant root (Saussurea lappa). The extraction process of Indian Costus plant root simplicia (Saussurea lappa) was carried out using the Soxhlet method with 96% ethanol as a solvent, and then evaporated with a rotavapor to obtain a viscous extract. Screening tests were carried out by giving ethanol extract of Indian Costus plant root (Saussurea lappa) with a concentration of 0.1% to 2 test bacteria, namely Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Thereafter, the Thin Layer Chromatography-Bioautography test was carried out, followed by identification of chemical compounds. The screening test results obtained showed that the ethanol extract of Indian Costus plant root (Saussurea lappa) provided activity against 2 test bacteria at a concentration of 0.1%. The Thin Layer Chromatography-Bioautography test results indicated that there were 3 spots that were formed with Rf values of 0.67, 0.60, 0.54, 0.45, 0.43 providing activity on Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria. The chemical identification of ethanol extract of Indian Costus plant roots (Saussurea lappa) yeilded positive result for the presence of alkaloids.     Purslane herb (Portulaca oleracea L.) is one of the plants that is considered as a valuable plant in the pharmaceutical world for the future because of its antioxidant content and high nutritional value. Endophytic fungi can produce secondary metabolites that have activities similar to those produced by their host plants, where these metabolites have medicinal potential. In previous studies, it was found that the ethyl acetate extract of endophytic fungi had antidiabetic activity in the α-glucosidase enzyme inhibition test. This research aims todetermine the antioxidant activity of the ethyl acetate extract of the endophytic fungus of purslane herb (Portulaca oleracea L.) using the Test method1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH). Purslane herbaceous endophytic fungus isolate (Portulaca oleracea L.) code FEK purified for 3 days. Then, fermented using MYB medium for 21 days. After that, extracted to become a thick extract. Furthermore, the DPPH test was carried out using a vitamin C comparison solution.     FORMULASI DAN EVALUASI SIFAT FISIK DARI SEDIAAN FACE WASH YANG MENGANDUNG EKSTRAK AIR BUNGA KESUMBA TURATE (Carthamus tinctorius L).

    Carthamus tinctorius L. has antioxidant activity and contains polyphenols and flavonoids so it can be used for skin care such as face wash. The aim of this research is to formulate and evaluate a face wash preparation from water extract of Carthamus tinctorius L flowers that is physically stable. Carthamus tinctorius L water extract face wash preparations have been made in 4 formulas with different gelling agent variations, namely Carbopol and HPMC with concentrations of 1% and 1.5%. Preparation tests that have been carried out include organoleptic tests, homogeneity tests, pH tests, syneresis tests, viscosity tests, flow properties and stability tests. Research results have shown that Carthamus tinctorius L water extract can be made into a face wash preparation with a thick consistency, odorless and brown in color. The preparation that has been made is homogeneous and has a pH between 3-6. The viscosity ranges from 30.4 – 159.8 P with a plastic flow type with a yield value between 13.5 – 32.9 dyne/cm2. Syneresis tests have shown water loss between 7.13 – 19.7%. The results of the stability test have shown that the formula with gelling agent HPMC at a concentration of 1.5% has pharmaceutical properties that do not change after stress conditions

    Diarrhea is a condition where defecation with a frequency of more than 3 times a day and the consistency of liquid or semi-liquid feces with water content that exceeds normal limits. One plant that is thought to have antidiarrheal effects with tannin content in it is matoa leaves (Pometia pinnata J.R Forst &; G. Forst). This study was conducted experimentally using 25 male white rats induced castor oil (Oleum ricini) as a laxative. After being induced, experimental animals were divided into 5 groups, namely the negative control group (NaCMC), the positive control group (Loperamid), the the ethanol extract of matoa leaves group with doses of 200 mg/KgBB, 400 mg/KgBB, 800 mg/KgBB. All treatments were carried out orally. Then observed the frequency of diarrhea and the consistency of feces every 30 minutes for 5 hours. Furthermore, the results of the study were analyzed statistically using the Kruskal Wallis test then continued with the Post Hoc LSD test. From the results of the study it can be concluded that the ethanol extract of matoa leaves has an antidiarrheal effect on male white rats induced castor oil with an effective dose of 800 mg/KgB

    Uji Aktivitas Antiinflamasi Teh Cang Salak Secara In Vitro Dengan Metode Stabilisasi Membran Human Red Blood Cell

    The use of natural ingredients can be an alternative as an anti-inflammatory agent with lower side effects. This study aims to determine the anti-inflammatory activity of cang salak tea in vitro using the human red blood cell membrane stabilization method. Cang salak tea is made into a drink in four formulations, namely P1, P2, P3, and P4 with a volume of 200 ml each. The four formulations were tested for phytochemicals and anti-inflammatory with red blood cell membrane stabilization method using diclofenac sodium as a positive control. The percentage value of red blood cell membrane stability for each formulation was then analyzed statistically with One-Way Anova and LSD tests to see the level of difference between formulations and their effect on cell membrane stability. The formulation of cang salak tea contains phytochemical compounds such as folinol (379,094 - 430,299 mg/100g GAE), flavonoids (5,299 - 7,959 mg/100g QE), alkaloids (24,312 - 28,472 mg/100g) and has antioxidant activity with a value of 3,996 - 6,222 ppm. The highest levels of active polyphenolic compounds were found in the P2 formulation, flavonoids in the P2 formulation, and alkaloids in the P3 formulation. The highest antioxidant activity was found in cang salak tea formulation P1 which had the lowest PPM value in the IC50 test. The percentage of red blood cell membrane stability in various formulations of cang salak tea had a significant difference with the highest value in formulation P1 (112.6 %), followed by formulation P2 (102 %), P3 (100, 2 %), and P4 (99, 7%) (P≤0.05). Based on the LSD test results of cang salak tea formulations P1, P2, and P3 were significantly different from the positive control (P≤0.05). While the P4 formulation was not significantly different from the positive control (P≥0.05).     Kadar Fenolik Dan Flavonoid Total Dalam Ekstrak Metanol Daun Cemba (Acacia rugata (Lam.) Fawc. Rendle)

    This study aims to determine and compare the phenolic and flavonoid content of methanol extract in Acacia rugata (Lam.) Fawc. Rendle leaves using UV-Vis spechtrophotometer and TLC-densitometry. The Acacia rugata (Lam.) Fawc. Rendle extracted by using maceration applied sonicator. The quantitative analysis measured by UV-Vis spectrophotometer at wavelength 430 nm. The TLC–densitometry performed at wavelength of 254 nm and quercetin was as a standard. The results showed that the phenolic total showed 0.506 gGAE/g extract and 0.879 gGAE/g extract. The flavonoid total showed 0.44 gQE/g extract and 0.73 gQE/mg extract respectively

    Staphylococcus aureus is a commensal bacterial  of the body that can become pathogen at any time. Along with the increase of antibacterial resistant cases, it is necessary to explore the new potential metabolites as antibacterial. Endophytic bacteria that live on turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) are thought to be able to produce secondary metabolites that are similar and even more varied than their host plants.To determine the antibacterial effect of secondary metabolite compounds of turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) endophytic bacteria on Staphylococcus aureus. Endophytic bacterial isolates were subcultured on NA media with a streak plate method. Antibacterial activity test useds disk diffusion method. Potential endophytic bacterial isolates were characterized based on colony morphology, cell morphology and biochemical properties and secondary metabolite compounds produced are identified with a ciulei method. A total of 17 endophytic bacterial isolates were successfully subcultured. All endophytic bacterial isolates had antibacterial activity range from 7.4-13.76 mm. One of the most potential isolates was M8 isolate which had similarity with a genus Pseudomonas. The secondary metabolites that was produced bt M8 isolates were alkaloids, terpenoids and saponins. The most potential endophytic bacteria as antibacterial belong to the genus Pseudomonas and had alkaloids, terpenoids and saponins
