    Partitioning of Accumulated Dry Matter Along the Seed Fill Duration of some Wheat Varieties (Triticumaestivuml.)

    Seven wheat varieties were cultivated during the winter seasons of 2013 and 2014 in Sulaimani Crop Research Center - Bakrajo. A  Field  experiment was conducted  each year as CRBD with three replications.The most important vegetative and reproductive criteria were studied as well as dry matter accumulation and its partitioing through destructive samples. They were taken every 10 days in order to study the partitioning of assimilates to different parts of the plant leaf, stem, and spike under different environmental factors of the two years.The influence of the duration length of seed filling on the accumulated dry matter and its partitioning to the spike, the Spike Partitioning Coefficient and growth parameters such as Seed Growth Rate (SGR) and Seed Filling Duration (SFD)were studied. Environmental factors were influenced the Dry matter accumulation and the partitioning of assimilates as well as the length of the growth stages especially SFD

    Applications of X-Ray Computed Tomography for Examining Soil Structure: A Review

    In this paper we present a review of the application of X-ray computed tomography in soil science, a modern technique for structural analysis. The quantification of internal soil structure is the key in understanding the processes that lead to its development. The current analytical and traditional methods for exploring soil structure do not fully cover the needs of the researchers, in order to characterize the soil system and its properties. In the last decades, X-ray computed tomography has provided a non-destructive means in order to observe and quantify soils in 3D. It has been used in researches regarding the spatial distribution of soil pores, bulk density, macropore network structure, layer detection, permeability, calculated fractal properties, solute breakthrough, root system development etc. Compared to other analysis methods, the short time requiered for a CT scan (within the order of minutes) and the accuracy of the data provided, recommend this technique for the characterization of soil systems

    Wheat Varieties Resistance to the Biotic Stresses Generated by Diseases - Main Factor of Agro Ecological Economy

    For wheat crop, in 2013-2014 a comeback of resistant strains of extremely harmful diseases such as yellow rust (Puccinia striiformis) and fusarium (Fusarium spp.) was observed. By preventing the absorption of solar energy and limiting  the yield, by average, with 30-40% for the untreated pesticide version, entropy in wheat increased significantly. Entropy increase was also supported by the necessity to double the number of treatments from 1-2, to 3-4 in this special years. Currently there are no plant protection products that can control the wheat pathogens 100%. Thermodynamic biosystem reconstruction can be achieved only by obtaining and using resistant or immune varieties to the whole complex of wheat diseases. In the wheat crops in Romania, we can meet at least 13 diseases that, together or separately, may cause 15% damages even under treatment, taking into account the phenomena of resistance. Entropy on the food chain plant - animal - human or directly plant - human can also be increased by induction of mycotoxins (DON) in useful productions, which are extremely dangerous for food safety. All these have significant economical and environmental negative effects

    Echinacea purpurea (L.) Moench. is a perennial species, originating in North America from which the aerial parts are used in therapeutic purposes, and at the plants from the fourth year may be used also the roots. The extracts and the pharmaceutical forms with extracts are used in urology, gynecology and internal medicine. The echinacea herba is the raw material for the production of antiviral, anti - tumor, immunostimulant. Under the influence of the research factors interaction the highest average yield over the three years (73.38 q/ha) was obtained at the variant sown at a distance of 50 cm between rows and 15 cm between plants per row. The highest content in active principles, respectively polyphenolic compounds, polyphenolic acids and flavonoids was determined at the plants from the same variant that achieved the greatest production of dry herba

    Researches on the Germination Biology of Some Common Weed Seeds in Turkey

    Weeds in agricultural production is one of the most important factors affecting yield. They causes yield lose ranging from 25%  to 35%  by competing with cultivated plants  especially for nutrient, water, light and place. This data show the significance of weeds in agricultural areas. It is necessary to control the weeds to remove their harm. Principally the meaning of control is to know their biology. With this research the germination biology conditions (minimum, optimum and maximum germination temperature, germination period and germination rate) of some common weeds that are widespread in the agriculture in Turkey have been examined. According to the research results, minimum, optimum and maximum germination temperatures were 7-10 °C, 30-40 °C and 43-45 °C (no germination at 45 °C) for Amaranthus retroflexus L., respectively. These parameters for Chenopodium album L. were 0-2 °C, 15-25 °C and 40 °C; for Alhagi camelorum Fisch. (without fruit) they were 7-10 °C, 25-40 °C and 40-43 °C (no germination at 43 °C); for Galium aparine L. they were 0-2 °C, 5-25 °C and 25-30 °C ( no germination at 30 °C); for Taraxacum officinale Weber. they were 0-2 °C, 10-30 °C and 40 °C; for Heliotropium europaeum L. they were 20-35 °C, 40 °C and 40-43 °C (no germination at 43 °C); for Peganum harmala L. they were 7-10 °C, 20-30 °C and 43-45 °C. There was no germination in Alhagi camelorum Fisch. seeds at any temperatures

    Validation of Petroleum Hydrocarbons Determination in Wastewaters By FT-IR Spectroscopy

    Water contamination with petroleum hydrocarbons is one of the most challenging environmental problems, as crude oil continues to be the main source of energy and petrochemicals. This study presents the validation and the estimation of the measurement uncertainty for the determination of petroleum hydrocarbons in water samples by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometry (FT-IR). Method for petroleum hydrocarbons determination from water consist in the acidification of the sample (pH<5), extraction of 1 liter of water sample with 50 ml of carbon tetrachloride, removal of polar substances by Florisil column filtration and  measurement of the IR absorption within the 3150-2750 cm-1 range. The measurements were carried out using a Perkin Elmer Spectrum BX II FT-IR spectrometer. For the method validation detection limit and quantification limit, working range, trueness and precision were studied. The measurement uncertainty was evaluated based on the bottom-up approach. The detection limit was calculated to be 0.1 mg/l and the quantification limit 0.3 mg/l. Working range was set between 0.3 and 10 mg/l and samples with higher concentrations can be determined after appropriate dilution to fit within these limits. Relative standard deviation for repeatability was 6.4% for the 0.3-4 mg/l range and 6.0% for 4 - 10 mg/l range. The expanded uncertainty of this method is 13.5% for LQ-4 mg/l range and 12.5% for 4-10 mg/L range (at 95% confidence level, k=2)

    Research on Assimilation and Some Elements of Productivity Concerning Crops, Corn and Soybeans, Treated with the Foliar Fertilizer "Agro Argentum Forte" under the Agricultural Development Research at Station Turda

    Research was conducted at the Agricultural Research Development Station Turda , on Turda-Star corn and soy variety Felix, being treated with the foliar fertilizer AgroArgentumForte (B+H Solutions)  in two different concentrations of 0.3% and 0.4%, applied in two treatments at 14 days from each other. Production and quality indicators were higher both in case of corn as well as soybeans and on variants that were studied it was applied foliar fertilizer, the highest production being of  9100 kg/ha in corn ,respectively of 4620kg/ha in soybeans

    Identification of Benefits for the Inhabits of Somesul Rece Natura 2000 Site

    Natura 2000 ROSCI0233 SomeÈ™ul Rece Site is a protected area of community interest; the site has natural richness and landscapes of great beauty and a big variety of important flora and fauna. An important piece to achieve the aim, consists of the local inhabits of the area. In order to help local communities identifying the benefits of living in or near Natura 2000 area, 14 meetings took place, 2 in each of Somesul Rece Site 7 villages: Valea Ierii, Caps, Cerc, Plopi, Răcătău, Măguri and Muntele Rece. The meetings were submitted to informative materials in the form of power-point presentations, leaflits and various posters, and after this presentation, the audience had the opportunity to ask questions. The 14 meetings were a success, and we can say that most of the inhabits of the area found many benefits compared to 2013,  when 54% of the inhabits asked, sad they know no benefits of a Natura 2000 area

    Salinity Stress Effects on the Growing Rates of Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.)

    The objectif of this study was to observe the effect of salinity on the tomato plant`s height, leaf area, root lenght and fruit production. The biological material used in this study was represented by five local races of tomato cultivated in east side of Romania. The seeds was collected from areas with saline soils from Moldavia region and compared with commercial type salt-tolerant tomato. The bifactorial experience was conducted in a pots experiment in randomized blocks with four repetitions. Five tomato genotypes studied were subjected to salt stress for a period of 30 days is constantly wetted with saline solution to a concentration of 100 mM and 200 mM. After 30 days salt stress is manifested difference in the growth rate of the untreated variants as a result of the biological characteristics of each cultivar, but also differences in the variants treated, due to salt stress

    Studies on the Flight of Rhagoletis Cerasi L. Adults in Treated and Untreated Plantations in Cluj-Napoca Area

    Rhagoletis cerasi L. is considered to be the main pest of sweet cherry and sour cherry plantations , whose attack may decrease the quality of fruits in a high percentage. The experiment took place in two locations from Cluj-Napoca city. During 2 eperimental yearsnwe observed the population dynamics of European cherry fruit fly. In the year 2013 the beginning of flight took place on May 25 and the maximum flight curve was reached in June 10 in untreated orchard, respectively on the 24th of June in case of the chimcally treated orchard . In 2014 the first captures were recorded on May 21 and the maximum density of population  was  achieved in untreated orchard on June 3 and June 17 in the orchard were chemical treatments where  applied. Adult flight ranged on a period of 36 to 51 days in the year 2013 and 48-51 days in 2014
