Study of the Influence of Lead Microelement on the Process of Water Accumulation in (Phaseolus vulgaris) Plants
In this study our goal was to analysis the influence of different concentrations of lead on the process of water accumulation in the roots and stems of bean seedlings. In the experiments, the Borlotti variety are used. The seeds (100) were soaked in the corresponding lead acetate solutions: V1 – distilled water; V2 - 0.001%; V3 – 0.005%; V4 – 0.01% and V5 – 0.1%. and were put in germinators. The roots and stems of 10 seedlings of each experimental variant were used for determining the quantity of humid and dried substance. The control had high quantity of humid substance, which proves that the water contained in the vegetal material was important for the growth of these organs. The most significant decrease was recorded at concentrations above 0.1%, being highly inhibited
Influence of Different Fertilizers on Soybean Yield and Nitrogen Content in No-Till Agriculture System
This paper presents the results obtained in the experimental field placed on cambic Phaeozem at SCDA Teleorman. The effects of various types of fertilizers, such as: N, NP, NPK, potassium humate NPK, containing different forms of nitrogen on the production and the content of nitrogen, were analyzed. The experiments soya been were carried out using soybeans as crops, in conservation agriculture system, and the fertilizers application dosages were 50, 100, 150 and 200 kg N/ha. The laboratory tests results and the statistical data indicated that the nitrogen from soil registered significant changes, after the application of urea, NP and NPK dosages. The production presented significant increases for the application dosages of 150 and 200 kg N/ha
THERAPEUTIC PROPERTIES OF CICHORIUM INTYBUS L. ROOTS IN LIVER DISEASES, DIABETES AND HYPERCHOLESTEROLEMIA
Ancient Egyptians used Cichorium intybus L. in the management of cardiovascular diseases and as a therapeutic aid in enhancing hepatic functions. Even during the Napoleonic age, chicory was popular as a coffee substitute and England used it as the main Camp Coffee ingredient. This study focuses on highlighting the medicinal properties displayed by Cichorium intybus L. root extracts in cases of liver disorders, diabetes and hypercholesterolemia, affections which are spread all-over the globe. A few examples of functional products containing chicory root were also presented. After reviewing several in vitro and in vivo studies on chicory root extracts, it is concluded that over the last years an increasing number of researchers suggest that chicory root extracts are hepatoprotective, increase satiety, reverse insulin resistance, and enhance lipid metabolism containing cichoric acid, chlorogenic acid, and polysaccharides. Among other therapeutic properties, chicory root extracts have shown gastroprotective, anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antidiabetic attributes. There are many possible ways of using Cichorium intybus L. root extracts in order to obtain functional products with a positive impact on one’s health status. Moreover, functional foods containing chicory-root extracts are already on the market and the ease of consumption added to the increased interest for such products encourages the development of further therapeutic alternatives meant to aid in the management of liver diseases, diabetes and hypercholesterolemia

Hops and medicinal plants represented a systematic study for the first time in Romania at the Agronomical School in Cluj, the results obtained being known and appreciated in the country and abroad. Beginning in 1993, research in this field at the University Of Agricultural Sciences And Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca has been carried out within the Head of the Hop and Medicinal Plants Crop Research Center founded at this institution and it is quoted as <<centre of excellence>> by the University’s Senate. There follows that this acceptance be granted by the respective national authorities. The results obtained within the Centre are published in “Hop and Medicinal Plants”, a publication started in 1993. BIODYNAMIC AGRICULTURE - CONCEPT AND EFFECT OF THE APPLICATION OF THE BD PRODUCT 500 ON THE ROOTING OF SOME MINT CUTTINGS
Biodynamic agriculture is an advanced organic farming system that relates to cosmic, telluric and human energies, which gives plants a higher vitality as opposed to another plant grown in conventional agriculture. The concept of biodynamic agriculture appeared at the beginning of the 20th century and is developed by the Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner. The biodynamic products are marketed under the Demeter logo. Two species of mint were studied: Mentha spicata and Mentha piperita, which were purchased from the discipline of Crop Production within USAMV Cluj. The experience was located in the greenhouse of the Department of Crop Production within USAMV Cluj. The results regarding the percentage of rooted plants indicate that the application of the biodynamic product of Cow pat pit (CPP) (500) influenced the rooting percentage, after 14 days after planting
BARLEY (HORDEUM VULGARE L.): MEDICINAL AND THERAPEUTIC USES – REVIEW
Barley is considered one of the oldest cultivated plants that played an important role in the development of human civilization, agronomic, physiological, genetic sciences and plant breeding. Since ancient times, barley was used for human food and animal feed. In addition to the already known uses, barley also has therapeutic qualities discovered over time. For therapeutic and medicinal purposes, barley can be consumed as juices or powder made from the young leaves of the plant, but also like barley water obtained from barley grains. The important effects of the green leaves on human health, was discovered by Dr. Yoshihide Hagiwara, after a study of 150 different plants. Of all, green barley proved to be the most valuable for human body and also has an excellent therapeutic effect
Dynamics of the Foliar Pigments Content in Some Bean Genotypes, from North-East Romania, under Salt Stress
Phaseolus vulgaris L. is a salt-sensitive species. For this reason, the purpose of the face work was to determine the effect of excess NaCl on the content of the chlorophyll pigments as an indicator of salt stress tolerance. Therefore, in the present study, of the influence of saline solutions of 100 mM and 200 mM NaCl was studied on the content of assimilatory pigments, to 7 local populations of common beans, collected from areas with saline soils, from Nord-East of Romania and grown under greenhouse conditions, at the pots. The experiment is part of a broader research, and the determination of pigment content is only one stage of this research, because and other physiological and biochemical parameters are analyzed. 15 days after treatment the content of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b and carotenoids pigments showed higher values compared with analyzes performed after 30 days. The overall objective of the research is to contribute to a better understanding of the physiological mechanisms involved in the saline stress tolerance of Phaseolus vulgaris L., identification of local populations of salinity-tolerant beans and their use in breeding programs of this species. As novelty, in the current study, new genotypes were found of bean, from Nord-East of Romania, tolerant to this factor
A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW OF MEDICINAL AND THERAPEUTIC USES OF MENTHA PIPERITA
The new trend in food science is to replace the synthetic preservatives with natural vegetable sources. As mentioned by a large scientific literature, due to their rich chemical composition in bioactive compounds, essential oils could be a novelty in this research area. Thanks to the main components of Mentha piperita species, such as menthol and menthone, peppermint oil represent a new possibility to prevent and maintain the appearance of food borne pathogens. Also, peppermint oil could be successfully used to treat different human diseases, having medicinal and therapeutic effects
IDENTIFICATION OF WEED SPECIES PRESENT IN LAVENDER CROPS (LAVANDULA ANGUSTIFOLIA L.) AND (MENTHA PIPERITA L.) FROM THE UASVM CLUJ-NAPOCA CAMPUS
The objectives of the paper are to identify the weed species in organic culture of Mentha piperita L. And Lavandula angustifolia L. founded in the UASVM Cluj-Napoca campus, both in terms of composition and the dominance of some species, but also the development of measures to reduce their negative effects, given that application of herbicides is excluded
