It has been known for centuries in folk medicine, around the world and in recent years, there has been an increase of interest in red clover as important source of bioactive compounds or a base for herbal medications and dietary supplements. Red clover is a useful plant for humans due to its wide range of medicinal properties and can be used for medicinal purposes like essential oil, medicinal ointment, tea, pills, and others.     The roots of the plants are in contact with a substrate, and biotic and abiotic factors influence their functioning and development. The most known microorganisms associated with plant roots are soil fungi, which are adapted to the soil's living environment, called mycorrhizae. Arbuscular mycorrhizae are the most common of these associations. In agricultural ecosystems, the constant use of technologies has resulted in a progressive reduction of mycorrhizal diversity. Due to this phenomenon, soil presents a lower potential for the development of multi-level hyphal networks which implies reduced connections between all individuals of a single species. Mycorrhizas offer benefits for the host plant, including mineral nutrition, increased drought tolerance, and protection against pathogens. They play a significant role in acquiring the necessary nutrients (especially phosphorus and nitrogen) from soil to their host plants, as these nutrients may have low mobility in most soils. Plants take up phosphorus from soil indirectly through the hyphal network that can reach outside from the root depletion area. Mycorrhizal association increases the accumulation of nitrogen in the plant as a result of the competition of hyphae for the organic mineralized form of this element

    Hop and Medicinal Plants Journal is in its 30th year of life. It has been published since 1993 under the auspices of the Hop and Medicinal Plants Crop Research Centre (HMPCRC) of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (UASMV) Cluj-Napoca. This centre has been operating for three decades, based on the Senate Decision of UASMV Cluj-Napoca from 6.12.1993, and was subsequently confirmed by the UASMV Cluj-Napoca Senate Decision in 25.10.2005. The establishment of this research centre was based on the activity performed and the results obtained at the Cluj Phytotechnics regarding hops and medicinal plants, the activity of the centre representing a superior stage of research in these fields

    Biostimulators Impact Germination and Leaf Development of Capsicum annum cv. Alexander – a BBCH Scale Assessment

    Yeast and coffee grounds were tested as biostimulators on pepper growth. The main aim was to emphasize the growth differences when these two biological agents were added. A number of 40 microcosmos experiments were set up with yeast (D1-3) and coffee ground (C1-3) in three concentrations 1, 2, and 3%, a mixed treatment (MIX) with the middle concentration (2%) and a control (C) treatment in five repetitions. The growth and development were reported on BBCH scale. The yeast (D1) produced 48% of the seedlings in 14 BBCH, D2 produced 16% seedlings in 18 BBCH. The coffee grounds C1 (11 BBCH) and C2 (12 BBCH) produced 12% fewer seedlings than the control treatment. Seedlings from the MIX treatment were at the end very similar with D3 treatment with the higher achievement of 35% in 14 BBCH.     One of the gluten-free legumes that has received special attention in the last period due to its nutritional value and health benefits is lupin (part of the Fabaceae family, genus Lupinus). Due to the fact that lupin is rich in proteins, lipids, fibre, vitamins, minerals and bioactive compounds such as phenols, β-carotene, lutein, zeaxanthin, tocopherols, has been used in different types of foods (mostly in various bakery-pastry products) in order to improve their nutritional quality. Lupin has also been used because its health benefits such as reducing blood pressure, lowering cholesterol levels and preventing cardiovascular disease. This study is focused to demonstrate the importance of lupin by describing the bioactive potential of lupin and its benefits.     Natural habitat of Community interest 62C0* Ponto-Sarmatian steppes is very important at European level due to its high biodiversity. The aim of the paper is to study the grassland systems within the habitat 62C0* Sarmatic pontoon steps and to characterize them from an ecological and agronomic point of view. The floristic studies were carried out on the permanent grasslands of the biogeographical region ROSCI 0201 North Dobrogean Plateau, which for the most part belong to the Natural Habitat of Community Interest 62C0 * Sarmatian pontoon steps. Following the classifications (cluster) resulted 4 groups such as: type Cynodon dactylon, type Bothriochloa ischaemum - Festuca valesiaca, type Festuca valesiaca and type Festuca valesiaca - Stipa capillata

    Effect of Various Nutritional Resources on Phytochemical Traits of Some Rice Varieties Under Drought Stress Conditions

    A split-plot factorial experiment with randomized complete block design with three replications was performed at Dasht-e-Naz company located in Sari city, the Mazandaran province, Iran, in 2016 and 2017. It aimed to study the phytochemical properties of rice cultivars using different nutrients (chemical, organic) under drought stress. Three levels of stress, including drought stress at the beginning of tillering stage (15 days after transplanting), active grain filling period (end of flowering and the beginning of seed filling) and lack of stress (control) were the main causes of drought stress. Irrigation was stopped for two days, and re-irrigation was performed periodically after the appearance of hairy cleavage. The type of nutrition system was considered as the sub-factors in the factorial pattern in terms of four levels of vermicomposting and Azolla compost, in the quantities of 6 and 8 tons per hectare, respectively, humic acid (4.5 litres per thousand litres of water), the conventional chemical fertilizers (NPK), and two cultivars (Shirodi and the local Tarom). The maximum paddy seed yield was obtained in the non-stress condition using humic acid in the cultivars of shirodi and local Tarom. The maximum proline content was obtained in the drought stress condition in the retransition growth stage using the conventional fertilizer in the local Tarom cultivar. Maximum free radical scavenging and phenol content was obtained in drought stress conditions applied in the mobilization phase using humic acid in local Tarom rice. The overall results of the research suggested that humic acid increases the resistance of rice cultivars against drought due to the reduction of oxidative damage compared to the other fertilizers resources and enhances the paddy seed yield by affecting the phytochemical process

    The Influence of foliar fertilization on different soybean genotypes

    Soybean is one of the most important leguminous crops due to its high oil and protein content with a significant role in nutrition. Micronutrients for soybean growth and development are very important and foliar fertilization is used to overcome environmental stress and help soybean plants to fill their nutritive needs. The research was carried out in 2020 by the Soybean Breeding Laboratory from the Agricultural Research and Development Station in Turda, Romania. Foliar fertilization had both positive and negative effects for 1000-grain weight and yield however, quality traits do not seem to be influenced by applying supplement of microelements during the vegetation period. The research suggests that genotype is the determining factor in the efficiency of foliar fertilization. In this sense, the present experiment will continue to bring answers regarding the effects of foliar fertilizers on some soybean genotypes

    Grasslands are the most dynamic ecosystems are characterized by high biodiversity both above-ground and underground. The biggest problem in these ecosystems is oligotrophy. The phenomenon affects the stability and resilience of these ecosystems, increasing the impact of biological processes. The symbiotic relationship between plants and mycorrhizas is a natural option with a great impact on maintaining the high natural value of ecosystems. This article aims rating colonization Festuca rubra, dominant in a mountain grassland ecosystem. Roots were cleared and stained with ink for the detection of mycorrhizas in roots. All root samples were analyzed with an optical microscope for the detection of mycorrhizal structures. The results obtained highlight a main mycorrhizal pattern as well as specific subcategories. Both types of arbuscules were identified: Arum and Paris. The results obtained highlight a main mycorrhizal pattern as well as specific subcategories. Vesicles are structures with a constant lack of consistency, which indicates their fluctuating nature. The mycorrhizal pattern of Festuca rubra as the dominant species in the pratol ecosystem may be the first step towards a more detailed understanding of the fungal strategy as well as the increased importance in the stability of the pratol ecosystem.  &nbsp

    Effectiveness of fungicides with different modes of action against net blotch disease of two-rowed spring barley

    Net blotch disease caused by Pyrenophora teres is one of the most damaging fungal diseases of barley crop. This study screened comparatively the effectiveness of eleven fungicide products applied to malting barley (Hordeum vulgare L. conv. distichum Alef.) cultivar ‘Daciana’ in conditions from Transylvania. After fungicide treatment, the net blotch disease index decreased an average of 70.37-78.04% relative to untreated control. Fungicide application ensured an average of 28.66% grain yield increase, 7.51% thousand grains weight increase and 4.36% grain starch content increase relative to untreated control. Top performance was obtained by using products that contained demethylation inhibitors targeting sterol biosynthesis in combination with other active substances with a different mode of action particularly targeting mitochondrial respiration. It is a difficult task to achieve top performance on all dimensions: strict disease suppression, high quantity and quality grain yields. Preventing the occurrence of pathogen resistance to fungicide and minimizing negative effect on crop as well as remanence in the plant, are the main challenges for fungicide use and should receive further attention
