The capital cold of this research work is to access the availability of 5 MN hydraulic press and to abate it’s down time in order to ensure maximum plant production capacity rate and to implement an advance and modern preventive maintenance engineering management aliment schedule. This work is agitated out on hydraulic press installed and in working condition in Frontier Ceramics Ltd Peshawar - Pakistan where various undesired and performance gradated breakdowns were centrally focused and analyzed forth with the perilous components of machine, which were beneath breakdown action which were further determined and analyzed though various maintenance techniques. Considering the motives of research, these undesired failures have been scrutinized and reviewed using famous Cause and Effect Analysis with Fish Bone diagram and 5-why techniques and consequently the root cause of these potential failures were investigated. Following these valuable measures the existing machine availability has dramatically enhanced up to a convinced level that will also upturn the required scheduled plant production capacity leading to diminish all the undesired possible maintenance rates and decreases the frequency of machine down time. This in about-face facilitated to advance new-fangled preventive maintenance checklists of determined period for the betterment of machine performance and obviously helpful to avert the possible degrading of machine before it truly transpires. This research work is principally marking at plummeting abandoned spell like sudden failures and to enhance the plant current manufacturing capacities achievement through accretion machine availability, mean time between failures and mean time between failures of critical components of machine that need extensive maintenance techniques and skills. Obviously this work has been accomplished by optimum operation of time necessary for required maintenance, scrutiny regularity as recommended by plant stockholder and of course a considerable opportunity of prior professional practice
LOAD FLOW ANALYSIS OF132/11KV SUBSTATION USING ETAP: A CASE STUDY
In the operation and design planning for the power system, the most significant and beneficial approach for the investigation of problems relating to power systems can be done by means of load flow analysis or design power flow. In light of a predefined structured power system and transmission system, the load flow analysis provides steady state characteristic data for voltage phase angles and its magnitude, the flow of reactive power in the transmission lines, losses in the system, generation and consumption of reactive power in the bus bar load. In this paper, an endeavor has been made to explore power flow in the 132kV grid by utilizing ETAP. The data is collected from Kohat 132KV substation over a period of one year, specifically in summer and winter peak loads
The Mediating Role of Career Development in its Antecedents and Outcomes: Empirical Evidence from Pakistan
The impression of strengthening human capital to promote innovation and creation by planning the careers of organizational members in light of HRM practices and policies and to develop distinct mentalities, competencies and skills with the sole objective of providing a series of novel services and products has been getting importance. The current paper dig into the importance of career planning along with the career management as input for the career development and career commitment, and career satisfaction as the output of this relationship. A sample of 395 teaching staff of the colleges of Malakand Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan was randomly selected for the current research. To test the hypotheses of the study, structural equation modeling as a statistical technique for analysis of the empirical data was employed. Empirical results supported all the hypotheses of the study. These results illustrated that career planning along with the career management are very important roots of the career development which further engenders career commitment and career satisfaction. These results also validated the mediating role of career development in the relationship of career management and career planning on the one hand as antecedents and career commitment and career satisfaction as outcomes on the other hand. The study has uniqueness in the sense that the study is the first one that tests these hypotheses in colleges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. And that is why the study has both academic and practical implications. At the end a few recommendations has been put forwarded for future research
NON-MONETARY REWARDS AND EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT; A STUDY OF HEALTH SECTOR
This study was conducted in order to investigate and identify the types of incentives (non-monetary) that leads to employee engagement among employees in health Sector. Non-monetary rewards included training and development, pleasant working environment, preferred lunch hours, business cards and own security. The study is conducted on 193 respondents at a private sector hospital. Respondents comprised of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff. Data was collected using self-administered questionnaire and responses were recorded using 5-points Likert scale. First the overall responses were analyzed and then individual group responses were analyzed by using regression analysis. The result shows that only a part of respondents shows positive results towards non-monetary rewards and there were differences in the responses towards each subset type of non-monetary reward.Â
THE IMPACT OF NEGATIVE TIES ON TURNOVER INTENTION
Knowledge based industries where human capital is very important are increasingly concerned about retaining human talent. We use a social network perspective to determine the effect of negative ties on an employee’s turnover intentions. Interpersonal dislike ties and conflicting ties are hypothesized to be positively related to turnover intentions, keeping job fit and sacrifice as control variables. Collecting sociometric and conventional data from 100 employees in an organization related to security and information of Pakistani individuals, OLS regression reveled that an employee’s number of dislike ties has a positive and significant impact of employee’s turnover intentions. Whereas an employee’s number of conflicting ties does not significantly impact turnover intentions
WIRELESS HAND GESTURE ROBOT USING DIGITAL IMAGE PROCESSING
To build RF based hand gesture robot which can be controlled through RF technology, where the decision of the gesture will be taken on behalf of image processing in MATLAB. To control the motion of the robot i.e. moving forward, moving backward, moving left and moving right. Moreover the information regarding direction will also be displayed on the transmitter end. In this system microcontroller is used as a central part to control the movement and direction of the Robot. The movement of the robot is controlled by hand gesture, the robot moves at a particular direction where hand gives a gesture. In this system for the detection of hand movement, DIP(digital image processing) tool is used which detect the hand and give information to the microcontroller which gives command to the transmitter. The transmitter transmits the desire signal to receiver side. The receiver gives command to microcontroller on the receiver side and the robot moves toward the desire place or direction. Â
ALTERNATE TECHNIQUE FOR WIDENING ROADS NEAR COMERICAL PLACES
It is well known that as volumes of traffic progressively increase, the need to widen roads becomes increasingly urgent especially near commercial markets. In this paper we will discuss the technique for widening roads; usually roads are widening by clearing nearby buildings. But that is very costly. This paper discuss that usually near commercial or market places there is always horizontal parking space, so if we just shift this parking space underground (under main road) with proper drainage system and stairs at each end of the road we can easily secure 1 or 2 extra lane. That extra lane can be used for bus rapid transit or just for normal traffic. By this arrangement pedestrian can also find easy to cross roads. Also in this paper alternate ways of lighting in underground parking during day and night by solar panels
INFLUENCE OF FABRIC CONSTRUCTION CHARACTERISTICS ON PERFORMANCE OF SOME SELECTED PAKISTANI WOOLEN BLENDED FABRICS
The study on the fabric construction characteristics was carried out in 2011 in College of Home economics, University of Peshawar. The wool blended fabrics were divided into two groups according to the source of the fabric; Group 1 comprised of Bannu Woolen Mills Limited while Group 2 contains the fabrics of Lawrencepur Woolen and Textiles Mills. The study describes the fabric construction characteristics such as Threads per Inch (T.P.I) and Weight per Unit Area and its influence on the performance of the woolen blended fabrics. It was found that fabrics which have high thread per inch and weight per unit area have the closely constructed weave and suitable for winter wear. The values for both groups varied in the reading and the performance characteristics were observed to be influenced according to the values of the fabric construction characteristics. The average highest thread per inch belongs to Group 2 i.e. 42 to 78 in warp and 36 to 70 in weft direction. The weight per unit area of Group 1 was found to be from 139.25 to 289.5 g/m2 and in Group 2, it was 188 to 269 g/m2. The higher the thread count and weight per unit area, closer weave pattern and strength was obtained. Keywords: Threads per inch, weight per unit area, weave pattern, wool blended fabric
Good HR Practices and Their Impact on Perceived Organization’s Financial Performance: A Case Study of the BoK
Today organizations are competing not on the basis of their sizes but by the quality of their inputs and the processes that they employ to convert inputs into the outputs. Keeping in view that min this study looks into the impact of some HR Practices on perceived financial performance in the Bank of Khyber. The study uses a sample of 142 managers collected from 116 bank branches from all over Pakistan. The hypothesized relationships are tested using Amos 18 through path analysis. Out of the three hypotheses the empirical data supported two while one has not been supported. Overall, the study validates the theory of good HR practices have positive relationship with perceived financial performance of the banks. The Future research should examine the impact of this perception on the actual performance. The current study is purely quantitative. Therefore there is a need of carrying out a qualitative study with the same variables to get more subtle findings. This research could also be replicated in other banks and comparison could be drawn for more holistic results and increasing the generalizablility of the results
CSR AS AN INVESTMENT OR AN EXPENSE: EVIDENCE FROM BANKING SECTOR OF PAKISTAN
If engaging in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities costs at least in short run and it is beyond a firm’s legal obligation then why do firms especially financial services firms engage in CSR activities. This question urges us to investigate the role of CSR in Corporate Financial Performance (CFP) in the banking sector of Pakistan. Therefore, data of 15 banks, listed on Pakistan Stock Exchange, have been collected from annual reports of respective banks’ websites and the State Bank of Pakistan for 6 years from 2009 to 2014. Correlation and regression analysis have been conducted through SPSS software.  Strong correlation between CSR and ROA, Firm Size as well as Firm Age was found out. On the hand, it was revealed that CSR did not have a significant impact on ROA as well as on ROE. The study contributes to the banking sector of Pakistan and gives insights to stakeholders including managers, leaders, investors and general public
