    The Choice of Governing Mechanism: An Organization Economics Perspective

    Organization economics, with its two main strands of transaction cost economics and agency theory, primarily deals with the question of how organizations emerge and survive. It focuses on the analysis of competition within hierarchies (organizations) rather than markets and addresses questions such as why organizations exist, how they are managed, why some perform better than others, and why they tend to cooperate. This study attempts to juxtapose other relevant perspectives and organization theories to bear on the same questions. The purpose is to understand where and how organization economics and other perspectives converge and diverge. The study depends on the work of famous scholars contributing to various perspectives for drawing conclusions

    Human Resource Development, Public Administration and the Need for Reforms: A Case Of Pakistan\u27s Public Sector

    Keeping in view the complexity of work environment in the changing organizational environment caused by advancement in technology on the one hand and the diverse needs of the a rapidly growing population on the other hand, the role of training and development becomes more stark in terms of quality and quantity both. Training and development as an HR activity enables organization members to capture knowledge and skills required for their effective performance. It also helps them to adapt to changing circumstance and to shoulder new responsibilities. Needless to say, this recognition of training by the government and management experts in the country, the approach toward this concept in the public sector service appears to be of mere waste and ruse. This paper is supposed to look into the concept of manpower training and development in the quality of service in the public sector of Pakistan so as to have some in-depth understanding of the problems being faced. The study will be recommending some recommendations as to how improvement could be affected

    ANALYSIS OF SPORTS PRE-COMPETITIVE ANXIETY IN UNIVERSITY LEVEL MALE AND FEMALE ATHLETES

    The aim of the study is to investigate difference in levels of pre-competition anxiety in athletes of both sexes. The components of pre competitive anxiety was assessed by using the instrument (Urdu version) of competitive state anxiety inventory -2 (CSAI-2) Martens, Vealeyand Burton (1990) was a set of questionnaire consisting of 27 items equally divided into 3-sub scales of cognitive anxiety, somatic anxiety & self-confidence. The subjects (N=720), included male (360) & female (360) athletes of team sports (games), Volley ball, Basket Ball, Hand Ball and individual sports (games), Table Tennis (single), Badminton (single) & athletics with age 16-27 years. The CSAI-2 was administered one hour before the competition. Results were analyzed using student t-test. These findings showed no significant difference in cognitive anxiety and self-confidences however, significant difference was observed in somatic anxiety level among male and female subjects

    STUDY OF CAUSES, CONSEQUENCES AND REHABILITATION OF KNEE-INJURIES IN MALH SPORT IN SINDH PROVINCE

    Malh is an indigenous, traditional and very popular sport in Sindh for centuries. Malh is intense body-contact sport with critical chances of injuries especially knee-injury. This study tends to determine the causes, consequences and rehabilitation of knee injuries in Malh across thirteen districts of the province. Data were collected through structured interview using survey questionnaire and analyzed in SPSS version 22.0. The average mean age of the Malh players also known as Pehelwans was found 43.03 years. Height and weight were recorded as 64.37 inches and 83.26kgs respectively. Findings of this study reveal that 52% Malh players got their right knee injured while 99% players reported they have had several types of injuries most injuries were serious and intrinsic. Implications of findings for Malh players, trainers, parents, physiotherapists and government policy makers are discussed with reference to promotion of Malh sport and diagnosis and rehabilitation of knee injuries
