La boda de penalty: el romance de Los primos romeros o la resolución poética de un conflicto vulgar
Get PDFAlthough superficially the romance of Los primos romeros could be interpreted since a surrealist, anticlerical and incestuous perspective, here it is offered a lecture coherent with most of the romancistic oral texts: a conflict so familiar and vulgar as the "wedding by penalty", viewed since a poetic and inclosed indulgent perspective. For the purpose of this romance, theoretical questions as the role of the transmitter ¿author or reader?) and the nature of oral texts are examined at once.Aunque a simple vista el romance de Los primos romeros pueda entenderse desde una perspectiva surrealista, anticlerical o incestuosa, aquí se propone una lectura coherente con la mayoría de los textos romancísticos orales modernos: un conflicto tan familiar y vulgar como la "boda de penalty", visto desde una perspectiva poética e incluso indulgente. Al mismo tiempo, y a propósito de este romance, se dilucidan algunas cuestiones teóricas como el papel del transmisor (¿autor o lector?) y la propia naturaleza del texto oral
Galicismos en un dialecto español de Luisiana (Parroquias de Sabine y Natchitoches)
Get PDFThe Spanish-American dialect still spoken around certain hamlets in Sabine and Natchitoches Parishes in Northwestern Louisiana has, until recently, been neglected by dialectologists. This is an archaic and isolated Mexican dialect, in danger of immediate extinction. After outlining the history of these communities, which go back to the first third of the 18th century, the limited number of French loan words (a total of 15) absorbed by the dialect are studied. The semantic categories represented give us a glimpse of the contacts between French and Spanish-speakers on the 18th-century frontier between Louisiana and Texas.El dialecto hispanoamericano que se habla en las cercanías de varios pueblos de Sabine Parish y en la aldea de Spanish Lake o La Laguna Española (Natchitoches Parish), en el noroeste del estado de Luisiana, ha sido desatendido hasta hace poco por los estudiosos de la dialectología hispánica. Tratese de un arcaico y aislado dialecto mejicano, que está a punto de extinguirse. Tras señalar el trasfondo histórico de aquellas comunidades, que se remontan al primer tercio del siglo XVIII, se estudia el limitado repertorio de galicismos (15 en total) absorbidos por el dialecto. Las categorías semánticas permiten vislumbrar la naturaleza de los contactos entre hispanohablantes y franceses en la frontera de Luisiana y Tejas durante el siglo XVIII

Get PDFThe Mystery play of the «Three Kings» that was performed in the village of Támara (Palencia) corresponds to a type of text that we could properly cali «leonés» because it is there in some of the villages of the oíd diocese of León where we can still find this tradition, although in this case it is a little farther from the supposed issuing focus. Due to its textual characteristics it is believed that it might have been written by a learned writer at the end of the 17th century or beginning of the 18th, though it was thoroughly assimilated and performed by the people. In the singing parts melodies, that are briefly commented, there is a style that goes from the archaic and modal to the most tonal, recent and popularizing.El Auto popular de los Reyes Magos que se representaba en el pueblo palentino de Támara responde a un modelo que bien podríamos denominar «leonés», por ser en pueblos de la antigua diócesis de León donde todavía pervive la tradición, aunque en este caso se encuentre algo más alejado del supuesto foco emisor. Por las características del texto, creemos que pudo ser compuesto por pluma culta a finales del siglo XVII o comienzos del XVIII, si bien el auto fue perfectamente asimilado por el pueblo y transmitido también por los cauces de la oralidad. En las melodías de las partes cantadas, que son brevemente comentadas, aparece desde lo arcaico y modal hasta lo más tonal, reciente y de estilo popularizante

No full textThe paper analyzes several legal cases concerning donations and loans of jewels in the context of the Islamic marriage in the Middle Ages. The bride receives gifts of jewels from her would-be husband that form part of her property thereafter. The father also offers a substantial contribution of jewels to her daughter, yet often this is given with the expectation of their being returned subsequent to the marriage ceremony. Two of the gifts studied here consist of a strand of pearls, gold earrings, and silver anklets. They are jewels described already in ethnographic studies as part of the adornment that the bride traditionally wears at weddings in the contemporary Maghreb.Este trabajo analiza varios casos en los que se reflejan problemas legales surgidos en torno a una donación o préstamo de joyas, dentro del contexto matrimonial islámico medieval. La novia, de hecho, recibe varios regalos que contienen joyas de manos de su marido, que formarán parte de sus propiedades después de su boda. Por otro lado, el padre entrega también un conjunto importante de joyas a su hija, pero es frecuente que le sean prestadas con la intención de que se le devuelvan posteriormente. Dos de los regalos que aquí se estudian contienen un sartal de aljófar, unos zarcillos de oro y unas ajorcas de plata. Todas ellas son joyas que han sido ya descritas en los trabajos de etnografía como parte de los adornos que la novia lleva tradicionalmente en su boda en el Magreb actual
El Clauer en Ibiza a partir de la documentación del s. XVII. (Aspectos formales, sociales y simbólicos)
Get PDFA traditional jewel worn by the women of the island of Ibiza —one of those worn hanging from the waistband—, the clauer appears as a key item in the island's Common Law regarding inheritance and the dowry. Notarial deeds reflect this, and reveal the several elements that enter into the jewel's composition. The author also delves into the clauer's special bearing on traditional clothing as well as on the wedding and its social and symbolic aspects. To the parallels of this cultural complex identified elsewhere in the Balearle Islands, the author adds others which attest its wide spread, and which suggest that it may date to as far back as the 13th century.El clauer, portado tradicionalmente por las ibicencas, es un ejemplo de las joyas que se llevaban colgando desde la cintura. Los Protocolos isleños reflejan la configuración de dicho clauer, y el papel que desempeñaba en los derechos consuetudinarios de dote y herencia. Se analiza su especial relación con la boda, sus connotaciones sociales y simbólicas y su íntima conexión con la indumentaria. A los paralelismos detectados en el archipiélago, se suman otros que ilustran sobre la generalización de este elemento, y su antigüedad, que es posible retrotraer hasta el siglo XIII
