It-clauses with Adjectival Predicates in English-Medium Articles: : Disciplinary and Linguacultural Considerations
This article examines it-clauses with adjectival predicates in 240 English-medium articles by Polish and Anglophone authors representing medicine and psychology, aiming to investigate how disciplinary and linguacultural constraints affect the frequency, in-text distribution, and semantic, syntactic, and lexical variability of the structure. The study attempts to address a gap in previous research, which has not yet compared these two disciplines and linguacultural contexts to reveal how they differ in their use of the device to express the writer’s stance. The results show that it-clauses are significantly more frequent in psychology and that the disciplines differ in the degree to which they exploit various aspects of the evaluative potential of the structure, although both use it most heavily in discussions, and prioritize to-infinitive clauses and evaluative predicates. The latter preference, as the study reveals, is marked only in Polish articles, where prominence is given to those features of it-clauses that are frequent in popular and non-native English writing. The features preferred in Anglophone articles are more typical of proficient writing
“Across the Shadowy Landscape of Memory”:: A Relational Reading of Liminal Traumas in Anita Rau Badami’s Can You Hear the Nightbird Call?
Liminal trauma narratives provide access to the formal representation and the affective dimension of trauma. Anita Rau Badami’s multigenerational and transnational novel Can You Hear the Nightbird Call? (2006) is a case in point, in which in-betweenness is not merely a source of affliction but may develop into a stepping stone to a belated understanding of past tragedies in twentieth-century India and Canada. Through a relational and dialogical approach encompassing Indra’s net, postmemory, rhizomatic theory, and multidirectional memory, liminality is addressed in the family and historical spheres, tracing vertical and horizontal connections between characters and episodes, which, it is argued, challenge event-based models of trauma studies, stress the importance of emotional alliances, and promote the establishment of communities of memory. Ultimately, chronologies and hierarchies are discarded in favour of network arrangements as the most suitable way to deal with interconnected traumas
The American Television Hero as a Novelist of Himself: : Language as Tópos in Matthew Weiner’s Mad Men
This article tackles the manifestations of American literary themes in Matthew Weiner’s Mad Men. I contend that the transmedial alignment of TV series and literature heightens our understanding of fundamental myths of American exceptionalism. This paper studies the role of language at script level as a site or tópos where the protagonist’s constant reinvention occurs. Moreover, it provides an interdiscursive analysis of Frank O’Hara’s “Mayakovsky” and John Cheever’s “The Swimmer” to show their thematic connection, which is the transition from old to new life. This theme possesses an axiomatic role in the genesis of this show, suggesting a tight intermedial relationship between the show’s scripts and the two literary works I will analyze. On the basis of my analysis, I suggest that reading this TV series as literature is possible if we consider both the show’s thematic connection with American literary themes and its multiple literary references

Tzompantli de Deborah Castillo. Sobre prácticas mágicas, creaciones estético políticas y estrategias de comunicación en el arte
This article presents an analysis of the performance Tzompantli by artist Deborah Castillo (Caracas, 1971) at the Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico City in April 2024. The objective is to examine its creation process and the communicative actions proposed by the artist as a way to generate an anticolonial narrative of some historical characters still paid homage to today in the hegemonic narratives about the colonization of the Americas. The methodological theoretical framework articulates tools from the knowledge of popular magic, Afro-descendant and indigenous cosmovisions, speculative fabulation and performance studies.

Perceptions of Physical Activity and Sport Science students on professional competences for labor practice
Universities have a paramount goal of equipping students comprehensively for their impending professional journeys. A recognized method to achieve this objective is by nurturing students' professional competences. It is therefore valuable to ascertain whether this broad group of competences is being developed in students throughout the course of their studies. This article delves into the perceptions of students enrolled in Physical Activity and Sport Science university programs regarding the salient professional competences pivotal for their future careers, along with gauging the extent of development of each competence. Employing a cross-sectional quantitative design, this study engaged 166 participants from the University of Castilla-La Mancha (Spain) that completed an online questionnaire created ad hoc. Principal findings unveil that individuals with work experience discern social skills/interpersonal relations, teamwork, and oral and written communication as the most honed competences. Conversely, competences encompassing initiative and entrepreneurial spirit, working in an international context, and information management skills exhibit relatively lower development levels. Notably, noteworthy disparities surface between those with prior professional exposure and their inexperienced counterparts. Additionally, students in their third and fourth academic years perceive a more evolved skill set compared to their peers in the initial year of study
A systematic review of female badminton talent identification: Implications for development
This study aimed to systematically review female badminton talent identification methods and their implications for athlete development. The review analysed literature on talent identification criteria, including physiological, psychological, and social factors. The materials used were articles published in international journals from various databases such as Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science. The methodology of this study utilised a systematic review approach based on the PRISMA guidelines. This review's main findings indicate that identifying female badminton talent involves a multidimensional assessment, which includes physical measurements such as strength and agility, psychological aspects such as motivation and mental toughness, as well as social factors such as family support and access to training. However, research shows gaps in gender-sensitive approaches and limitations of research in developing countries. The practical implication of these findings is the importance of developing more specific talent identification methods for women, taking into account physiological and psychological differences relative to men. This study concludes that despite significant efforts in talent identification, more research is needed to develop more accurate and applicable tools for female badminton athletes and expand the scope of future research.

Diseño, implementación y valoración de una aplicación móvil para evaluar el rendimiento de juego del Goubak®
The use of mobile applications (apps) has spread in the practice of sports and has been transferred to the educational field, where the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is becoming more and more common. In this sense, it is the teacher’s responsibility to ensure the responsible use of ICT, which promotes learning. For this reason, this article presents a proposal for the teaching-learning of an alternative sport, Goubak®, through the use of an intuitive app in Physical Education. The proposal was implemented with 6th grade students in Primary School (10-12 years) in a public school in the Community of Madrid. The design of the app followed three phases (1) development of the app; (2) implementation of the thematic unit on Goubak® using the app in the classroom; (3) data collection. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) instrument was used to collect information, presenting a favorable Cronbach's alpha (0.833), with a similar perception according to the sex. In addition, student and teacher perceptions were positive for the use of the Goubak® initiation app.
