The study aims to increase the understanding of gene concepts and inheritance by providing a more concrete representation of the genes. The design of this research uses the quantitative approach of experimentation. Subjects and objects of study are students of grade IX-5 SMP Negeri 1 Gangga, amounting to 29 not one person until a total of 28 people. This Piplas educational tool is very simple because it only makes use of plastic pipettes used by ice-drinking students. Usually plastic pipettes are used for crafting, but are used to provide a concrete representation of the genes. The results showed that most students are easier to understand the concept of genes, capable of making crosses easily so as to improve learning outcomes. Tests were given before learning obtained an average value of 30.79 and after learning obtained an average value of 69.4 an increase of 125.4%

The aim of this research was to examine the directed reading thinking activity (DRTA) strategy on students’ reading skills. This research was classified as experimental research applying a quasi-experimental design. This study involved 60 students of second-grade students of SMPN 1 Jonggat. The students were divided into two groups, the experimental and control groups. The experimental group was subjected to DRTA strategy, while the control group was treated using the conventional learning strategy. The data were obtained by using a reading test. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The data were calculated using SPSS 19.0 for Windows. The descriptive statistic was aimed at finding out the students’ mean score, mode, median, and standard deviation. Hence, the inferential statistic was used to test the research hypothesis using the independent sample t-test. The results of the research showed that the DRTA strategy in teaching reading had a more positive effect than the conventional learning strategy. It was proven that the students’ mean score in the experimental class (78.80) was higher than those in the control group (73.73). In addition, the score of 2-tailed (0.032) was lower than the sig. level 0.05. Therefore, the hypothesis was accepted. It means that the directed reading thinking (DRTA) strategy had a significant effect on students’ reading comprehension

Nematoda worms are one of the helminth groups that have wide distribution in ruminants. Various types of nematoda worms are known as cattle parasites and have affected their health. The aim of this research was to determine the species of gastrointestinal nematoda worms in cattle that were farmed in Taman Ayu Village, Gerung Subdistrict, West Lombok District. A total of 115 stool samples were collected by random sampling from February to August 2018 in 3 sub-village that have high cattle population in Taman Ayu Village. Sampling was carried out by random sampling method in dairy cattle. Fecal samples were examined using native and standard flotation technique to determine the number of species of gastrointestinal nematoda worms. Flotation method was depeloved by employing sugar absolut solution. The results of the examination of the samples have shown 8 species of nematoda parasite worms such as Strongyloides papillosus, Trychosrtongylus sp., Haemonchus contortus, Toxocara vitulorum, Trichuris spp, Nematodirus spp., Capillaria spp., Oesophagostomum spp. and larvae.  Strongyloides papillosus is the species with the highestnumber of infection due to it can be transmitted by autoinfection in the same individual. The farmers limited knowledge about good dairy systems and bad sanitation of cattle farm contribute to high numbers of nematoda worms in fecal samples. It is necessary for farmers to maintain best management dairy systems. Furthermore, routine treatment by anthelmintic will help farmers to protect cattles from the infection

This classroom action research aims to improve the mathematical communication skills at X grade student of SMA Negeri 2 Narmada Kab. Lombok Barat through cooperative learning type Think Pair Share (TPS) with Mr Math (Microsoft Mathematic). This research was conducted in 2 cycles, with the research subjects were students of class X2 of SMA Negeri 2 Narmada in the academic year 2016/2017 with a total of 24 students. From the research that has been carried out, it is found that the average value of the test of students' mathematical communication skills in the first cycle is 57.58 and the second cycle is 70.05. The percentage of classical completeness in the first cycle was 22.72% and the second cycle was 82.60%. This shows that students' mathematical communication skills have increased. The total average score of students' oral mathematical communication skills in the first cycle was 2.43 with a good enough category and the second cycle was 2.98 with a good category. This shows that students' verbal mathematical communication skills have increased and have reached the specified indicators. The total average score of observations of teaching and learning activities (KBM) in the first cycle was 2.70 with a good category and the second cycle was 3.15 with a good category. Thus, it can be concluded that the Think Pair Share (TPS) type of cooperative learning with Mr.Math can improve students' mathematical communication skill

    Get PDF
This study aimed at analyzing the effect of guided inquiry learning to the metacognitive ability of primary school students on the material of Least Common Multiple (KPK) and Greatest Common Divisor (FPB). The type of study was a mixed-method using quantitative and qualitative methods. There were 55 students of 4th grade used as the subjects of study. Two learning models were compared, namely guided inquiry learning model and conventional learning model. The students’ metacognitive ability was measured by means of problem-solving test on the material of Least Common Multiple (KPK) and Greatest Common Divisor (FPB). The quantitative analysis data used descriptive and inferential statistical tests. According to the results of data analysis, it was discovered that the t-test of sig (2-tailed) from the independent samples t-test of post-test was 0,00 (p = <0,05); this indicated that there was a significant difference on it. This showed that there was a difference of students’ metacognitive ability for both classes in solving the problems of Least Common Multiple (KPK) and Greatest Common Divisor (FPB) after the guided inquiry learning was implemented. Consequently, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect on the implementation of guided inquiry learning model to improve the students’ metacognitive ability in solving the material problems of Least Common Multiple (KPK) and Greatest Common Divisor (FPB)
