THE INTERFERENCE OF NATIVE LANGUAGE INTO ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION
This research was aimed at finding out how the native language interfere the English pronunciation and to identify the native language sounds that interfere the English pronunciation of the third semester of English Department students of IKIP Mataram in the academic year 2013/2014. This research was a qualitative research. The subjects of this research were the third semester of English Department students of IKIP Mataram in the academic year 2013/2014 that were selected based on certain category. The data was collected through observation and analyzed through some steps namely (1) transcribing the data, (2) reducing the data, (3) displaying the data that have been reduced and then drawing and verifying conclusion. Based on the result of data analysis it can be concluded that the native language interfere the students’ English pronunciation automatically when the English words sounds that they produced do not exist in their mother tongue. The researcher found some native language sound that interfere their English pronunciation, such as: vowel sound: /E/ for /Ï/, /a/ for /ɑÉ/, /I/ for /iÉ/, /«/ for /äÉ/, /U/ for /uÉ/, /a/ and /«/, for /ɑ/. Where as in consonant are: /p/ for /f/, /t/ for /T/ and /D/, and /s/ for /ʃ/
VIDEO TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ SPEAKING ABILITY
Video as an audio-visual material in teaching English has grown rapidly and it is obvious that the use of video is a great help for students in stimulating and facilitating the target language. This study tries to solve students’ speaking problems and improve speaking ability by using video. The writer uses Classroom Action Research as research design. The implementation of video in teaching speaking class is arranged to bring benefit of the language learners. Video can make the classroom atmosphere more interesting and make students easier to speak. Video also stimulates students to be active. The students’ response about the implementation of video is positive and it will be alternative strategy in teaching speaking. So, video can improve the students’ speaking ability
Analisis Rasch pada Skala Efikasi Diri Akademik Praktikum Konseling
This study aims to analyze the academic self-efficacy scale at counseling practicum up to the item and item level. The method in this study uses a quantitative method, aimed at 18 undergraduate students of the fifth semester guidance and counseling study program at Nusantara University PGRI Kediri. Data collection techniques in this study were in the form of a scale developed by researchers, namely the academic self-efficacy scale of counseling practicum. Analysis of the data used is the Rasch analysis which aims to provide overall information about the quality of student response patterns and quality on the academic self-efficacy scale of counseling practicum. The result of the analysis showed that were 27 items of counseling practicum academic self-efficacy scale items that were declared valid and reliable, along have been validated by three experts. The item separation value of 3,29 is rounded to 3, meaning that there are three types of items on the academic self-efficacy scale in counseling practice, namely: (1) difficult academic self-efficacy scale items, (2) medium academic self-efficacy scale items, (3) easy academic self-efficacy scale items
Pelatihan Pembuatan Pupuk Kompos Menggunakan Teknologi EM4 di Desa Kidang Kabupaten Lombok Tengah
This community service activity aims to improve the ability of the people of Kidang Village in making compost using EM4 technology. This activity is intended for farmer groups, village heads and youth clubs. The method of implementing this service includes the coordination of activities, preparation of tools and materials, implementation and demonstration. This activity is carried out by providing material and how to make compost with EM4 technology. Next is the demonstration using the tools and materials provided previously. In this activity, the training participants were very enthusiastic in participating in the activity until it was finished. There is a positive response so that the activities are held in each hamlet. It is hoped that the delivery of material can be obtained thoroughly by all the people of Kidang Village. In addition, activities like this can be continued to the mass production stage, so that in the future it is expected that Kidang Village has its own fertilizer products that can be traded to increase the income of its people
Karakterisasi Spesies Averrhoa yang Tumbuh di Kota Kediri Berdasarkan Pendekatan Palinologi
Averrhoa is a member of the Oxalidaceae family and has four types, namely Averrhoa carambola, Averrhoa bilimbi, Averrhoa leucopetala, Averrhoa dolichocarpa.. Among the four types of averhoa, the most commonly found growing and planted in Kediri's yards were Averrhoa carambola and Averrhoa bilimbi. Cultivation of this plant is usually done by vegetative and generative with seeds. Pollen has long been used as an indicator in plant taxonomy, because in pollen there are many secret characters. This study aims to determine characterization Averrhoa species that grow in Kediri City based on a palinological approach. The result of this research is Averrhoa pollen that grows in Kediri City has almost the same characteristics, namely very small size, spheroidal Prolate shape, trizonocolpate aperture and isopolar polarity. The similarity is so great because the environmental conditions in which these two types of plants grow are the same. The difference in the character of pollen that grows in Kediri City lies in its ornamentation. In Averrhoa carambola ornate Perforate-Foveolate and Averrhoa bilimbi with reticulate character. This difference in ornament is due to the fact that these two types of plants have different species
Pengolahan Limbah Organik Pasar Menggunakan Reaktor Cacing Tanah (Lumbricus rubellus) dengan Metode Continuous Flow Bin
Market waste is the second largest waste after household waste. Vegetable and fruit waste is the largest organic waste that comes from market waste. Various waste management efforts have been carried out by the government and the community, but have not completely resolved the waste problem. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of market organic waste processing using an earthworm reactor (Lumbricus rubellus) with a modified Continuous Flow Bin method on cocoon production, biomass, and exmecat. This study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD), with three treatments of a continuous flow bin modified three types of mixed media materials to increase cocoon production, biomass, and exmecat quality. The results showed that the type of reactor had a significant effect (P ≤ 0.05) on cocoon production, the amount of biomass, biomass weight, broodstock mortality, exmecat production, media temperature, and media humidity, but had no effect on media pH. The use of reactor 2 (R2) with a mixture of 50% horse feces + 50% rice straw + feed 50 grams / day / nest box for market organic waste is the best reactor compared to reactor 1 (R1) and reactor 3 (R3). The amount of organic waste that can be processed by earthworms (Lumbricus rubellus) either as a medium or as feed is an average of 4.35 kg / nest box for 40 days of cultivation with a stocking density of 25 grams of earthworms / nest box. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the ability of earthworms (Lumbricus rubellus) to process market organic waste using the modified Continuous Flow Bin method can reach 4.35 times their body weight / day. Thus, this waste processing method can be a complete solution to solving market organic waste management problems
Prospective Science-Teachers’ Services Satisfaction: an Exploratory Studies in Private Education Institutions in Indonesia
This study aims to explore the prospective science-teachers’ services satisfaction in private educational institution in Indonesia. Intended educational institution in this study is the Institute of Teacher Training and Education (IKIP) Mataram, Province of West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. This study is a survey research, where data is collected using a questionnaire containing the statement items of services satisfaction on the aspects of reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, and tangibility. Questionnaires were given to prospective-teachers who were actively studying and felt the services provided by the institution. Respondents involved as many as 282 prospective science-teachers, each of respondents from three study programs namely biology education, physics education, and chemistry education. The results of measurements of prospective science-teachers’ services satisfaction in IKIP Mataram on the aspects of reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, and tangibility in a row with very good responses of 17.59%, good responses of 60.64%, sufficient responses of 13.76%, and less responses of 8.01%. The recommendation in this study is that private education institutions need to continue to improve services in all aspects, especially the most dominant is the tangible aspect
Pemanfaatan Potensi Lokal Jombang Berupa Bunga Pacar Air Sebagai Indikator Alami
Acid base properties can be easily observed based on the difference in color when using indicators. The use of indicators is very rare at the secondary school. Natural indicator are needed to support acid-base learning at the secondary school. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of local potency extract of jombang in the form of henna flowers as a natural indicator and the effectiveness of HVS paper and filter paper as indicator paper. Natural indicator paper was obtained by immersing HVS paper and filter paper in the extract of red and purple henna flowers using water solvent. The test result in acid and base solution showed that the red and purple henna flower extract had the same effectiveness as a natural indicator, as well the red and purple henna flower extract indicator paper made from HVS paper and filter paper
Applying Circle Game to Enhance Students’ Speaking Skill
This Collaborative Classroom Action Research aimed at enhancing students’ speaking skill through the application of Circle Game. It was conducted in one cycle consisting of two meetings. The subject was the seventh of C class of SMPN 2 Alas Barat consisting of 22 students. The types of data were qualitative (acquiring observation during the learning process) and quantitative (speaking tests). The results qualitatively showed that the implementation of Circle Game enhanced the students’ speaking skills. Such improvement could be seen from their enthusiasm, their interesting feeling in various materials presented by the teacher, their active involvement. In the quantitative findings, the result also showed a higher value of the mean score of the post-test (77.34) rather than the pre-test (75.75). In conclusion, the use of Circle Game can improve students’ speaking skill
Description of students' Integrated Science Process Skills on Friction Material on a Flat Field
Science Process Skills have an important function in the process of student curiosity and scholarship, so it is necessary to do a description of students' science process skills. This study aims to describe students' integrated science process skills on friction material on a flat plane at SMPN 9 Muaro Jambi. The observed science process skills consist of ten observation indicators, namely experimental analysis, planning experiments, conducting experiments, describing the relationship between variables, defining variables operationally, making data tables, obtaining and processing data, making hypotheses, identifying variables and making graphs. This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive type. The research subjects were students of class VIII at SMP Negeri 9 Muaro Jambi which consisted of class VIII D and VIII E. The sampling technique was total sampling where the total sample was 40 students. While the data collection technique uses observation sheets that have been validated by a team of experts. The data that has been obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques with the help of IBM SPSS statistics software. The results of the research on students' mastery of integrated science process skills in the friction practicum on the flat plane were classified into the good category with a percentage of 57.5%. This means that students have good science process skills, because most students are skilled at doing practicum based on experimental indicators. The conclusion of this study shows that the integrated science process skills possessed by students are categorized as good
