HOW “KHMER PRODUCT†IS MADE THROUGH DEVELOPMENT PROCESS: FOCUSING ON CHANGING THE VALUE OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS IN CONTEMPORARY CAMBODIA
This study investigates some aspects of the socio-cultural changes that took place in contemporary rural Cambodia by focusing on production and marketing practices. It explores both the changing value crops and the transformation in agricultural production and trade among Khmer farmers after a new farming technology was introduced by a local NGO.  The case study presented in this paper is a local NGO operating since 2001 in the rural area where the author has conducted fieldwork from 2005 to 2016. The NGO has introduced a new agricultural technique and tried to establish farmer organizations in village and national level.  The yield crops produced with new technology was authorized by NGOs and given the new commodity value of ‘Khmer organic products. This signifies that dissemination of new agricultural techniques brings not only change in the production itself but imposes a new system for marketing crops and images of Khmer products. Therefore, dynamically transformed the social relationship patterns not only among the farmers, but with outsiders as well, including development promoter
SUCCESSES AND CHALLENGES OF COMMUNITY-BASED FARMING AND THEIR INTERRELATIONSHIP WITH SIGNIFICANT CHANGES IN FARM FAMILIES AND RURAL COMMUNITIES
Japan has seen a significant development in community-based farming (CBF), particularly in part-time rice farming areas. CBF is a farming system that is performed by a cooperative organization composed of farm households within a traditional rural community aiming to secure efficient and economical management by pooling all the resources.  How and why could CBF have developed remarkably? What kind of successes and difficulties has CBF accomplished and faced? How do they interrelate with the changes in farm families and rural communities? To these questions, we offer plausible responses on the basis of our case study in Fukui prefecture. Our study shows that CBF has succeeded in reducing the financial difficulties and labor shortage in participant family farms, as well as sustaining the farmland and the milieu of the community as a whole. However, ironically, the successes have led to a weakening of individual family farms and to promote their dependence on CBF. And then, it has led to the fears about the long-term viability of CBF itself with generational change. At the beginning, CBF was a solution supposing the conventional ways of farm family and community. But its implementation accelerated the changes in such conventional ways and produced the need for rebuilding the original system of management and recruitment
CORPORATE WORKERS’ IMAGES OF FARMING AND STRESS ALLEVIATION THROUGH GARDENING ACTIVITIES: A CASE STUDY OF ONE-DAY GARDENING TOUR IN A SUBURB OF TOKYO
This study explores the potential of one-off gardening experience tours for the reduction of mental stress of urban corporate workers. By using both medical and sociological data, it examines how the participants’ preconceived images of farming and other factors may influence the stress-reducing effects of gardening activities. The examination of several salivary substances and a medical questionnaire (POMS2®) suggest that the gardening activity had a clear stress-reducing effect for most participants. It was also revealed that the stress-reducing effect was greater for those who have positive images of farming than those with negative images. This suggests that gardening activities may not necessarily be beneficial for all walks of life, depending on one’s preconceived image of farming. At the same time, in order to evaluate the stress-reducing effect of the entire tour, there is a need to pay attention to aspects other than the gardening activity itself, in particular communication with the other participants as well as travel distances

Rethinking the Penalty of Illicit Enrichment Crime in Ethiopia: Lessons from Comparative Analysis
The crime of illicit enrichment has been widely accepted as a useful mechanism for curbing corruption, both international and regional anti-corruption instruments. This article's main objective is to comparatively analyze the rationality and appropriateness of the penalty provided for illicit enrichment crime in the Ethiopian Corruption Crimes Proclamation compared with Hong Kong and Rwanda's legal regimes to draw some best lessons and way forwards for the identified problems. The article found that the Ethiopia Corruption Crimes Proclamation fails to set a minimum penalty limit and entails severe punishment in terms of imprisonment and fine that can convey a meaningful message to potential offenders. Thus, the penalty provided for the crime of illicit enrichment is designed in a manner in which the person who commits such crime has the chance to be less punished. In effect, this provision is inconsistent with the purpose of criminal law and major sentencing principles, but it also degenerates public confidence in the justice system. Therefore, Ethiopia needs to take a lesson from Hong Kong and Rwanda's experiences in incorporating severe and setting minimum limit of penalty for the crime of illicit enrichment that can convey a meaningful message to potential offenders
ANTROPOCENTRISM EPIDEMIC: THE STUDY OF SOCIAL ACTION OF COMMUNITY TO THE ENVIRONMENT OF JENEBERANG RIVER
Nowadays, the global environmental crisis is caused by fundamental philosophical errors in understanding the human way of thinking about themselves, their relation with nature, and their place in the whole ecosystem. In turn, these misconceptions lead to wrong actions. This research aims to comprehensively study the description of the anthropocentric actions of a community about the environment of the Jeneberang River. The approach used in this research is qualitative with a phenomenology method. The result of this research indicates that anthropocentric actions prioritize the desire to fulfill life's needs as if they are free to do anything with nature without considering the preservation and the balanced management of the Jeneberang River environment. There were some community anthropocentric actions found in Jeneberang River community, namely, the establishment of residence, garbage disposal, and storage of stockpiles, the establishment of the brick industry, clearing area for agricultural land, various kinds of entrepreneurial activities, and sand mining activities (have been dismissed since 2015). These actions critically impact the condition of Jeneberang River, worsening problems such as river water pollution, the silt of the river, and flash floods that happened at the beginning of 2019

The Inconsistency of ICSID Awards Over Argentina Cases
This paper discusses the inconsistency of International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) awards over an emergency situation in Argentina in 2001.  Utilising a doctrinal methodology under Third World Approach to International Law (TWAIL) paradigm, this paper explores the argument set out in Argentina case in the first trial and its appeals, then makes an effort to find out the better and systematic argument for Argentina. Therefore, this paper contributes to factually understanding the different argument from two perspectives in ICSID proceedings which has been contested and herewith proposed a better formulated argument for the future of ICSID awards making by placing economic development in Third World States as a basis of argument. Hence this argument can be used for the similar cases in the ICSID in future
