The taxonomic study of a plant is an important aspect of plant research, as it allows the most complete view of the natural habitat of any plant species. The main purpose of the present work is to provide a detail investigation of the Passiflora edulis var. flavicarpa Deg. carried out from the month of April, 2020, growing in the area of Nakachari, Jorhat District, Assam, India. A complete workout on the different parts of the plant belongs to the family Passifloraceae is done to understand the significance of these features in systematic. Paper also reflects the various phytochemical constituents present in the Passiflora fruit also commonly known as Passion fruit which is utilized in pharmacology and by other ways in different ethnic groups of North Eastern India as a vital source of medicinal treatment. The findings clearly express that Passiflora species exhibits all advanced morphological characteristics of present day Angiospermae land plants and also reported that tendrils perform the role of physical support. Towards the end the study it is also concludes with the beneficial outputs of Passiflora edulis from the agronomical point of view that can be easily achievable if the input through cultivation would be uniform as well as dynamic. Based on the various literature surveys, it was found that such detail taxonomic works on the species were not studied and recorded from the study area earlier. Such comprehensive work on Passiflora edulis var. flavicarpa provides an empirical basis for the identification of the species.Â

Children's social environment influences their psychological return to crimes, and it is a treatment or reward from friends which they consider right since they are encouraged to repeat their actions. The research is an empirical legal research. The results shows that The role of psychologists in Special Child Development Institutions is not optimal, due to limited resources. Furthermore, parents or families should actively supervise and limit the association of children as this will prevent them from returning to the social environment. This is because the environment encourages them to commit criminal acts. Also, the government should make provision for their development through the Ministry of Rights and human rights psychologists of any special institute for children's development

The Space Rush: Reviewing Indonesia’s Space Law in Facing the Rise of Space Mining

    Get PDF
Space technology development shows feasibility of actualizing future space mining. There are numerous efforts to utilize resources from celestial bodies; whether as fuel, an alternative source for scarce minerals, or as an in-situ support for future human habitation in outer space. This article identifies potential clashes between ongoing space mining practices and the interests of developing nations. The main concern is accessibility: will the race to dominate space mining leave no room for non-space faring nations to utilize space resources, or even access potential space mining locations? The current international space law has several loopholes such as the absence of provisions regarding ownership of space resources, and the lack of inclusion of private actors, especially considering their role in furthering the space mining industry. This article also examines Indonesia’s regulation on space activities, including mining and provide recommendations. Current regulations imply there is a vision for Indonesia to be a large space actor in the future, but no instrument puts specific focus as of yet to space mining. Lack of dedicated funding and technology also exist, but there are various opportunities to attain this, provided Indonesia is able to utilize them for national interests

    Get PDF
Warming in the climate system is undisputable, which has received increasing global attention since the global mean surface temperature was reported to be increasing in the late 19th century. As more than 50% of the world population prefers to live in cities, urbanization has become a trigger of global warming. This research will explore the effects of changes in land use land cover (LULC) to find out the effects of urban heat islands (UHI). Makassar City in South Sulawesi is one of the cities in Indonesia that is experiencing rapid urbanization, and is expected to experience significant Urban Heat Island (UHI), which may inevitably affect regional climate, the environment, and socio-economic development. This study aims to determine and analyze the relationship between LULC changes and land surface temperature (LST) patterns. UHI and LULC maps were obtained from Landsat data for the years 1989, 1999, 2007, and 2018 from USGS to show their spatiotemporal patterns. To analyze the relationship between LULC and UHI changes, this study used a quantitative approach to explore the relationship between LST, LULC classification and several indices. The results showed that: (1). During the period of study (1989 – 2018), there were significant changes in LULC. The highest percentage was built up areas, which rose by 73.83% from 4849.21 ha in 1989 to 8429.21 ha in 2018; (2). The spatiotemporal pattern in LST shows an upward trend in all parts of the city, especially in the western part of the city. (3). It was found that the highest temperatures were in built up areas, and the lowest was discovered near waterbodies

    Get PDF
The study described herein was conducted to identify general aspects of rural tourism based on the Inter-Industrial Cooperation Project in Japan and to investigate factors and background obstacles to sustainable development of rural tourism management through collaborative organization of various actors. Most approved projects are engaged in producing and marketing local specialty goods. The numerous projects aiming at initiating tourism activities are extremely small. Some approved projects targeting tourism management have already been abandoned.  The authors conducted interview surveys to elucidate some typical cases, which elicited the following points about hindrances to sustainable development of rural tourism management based on the Inter-Industrial Cooperation Project: difficulty of maintaining collaborative networks among actors of various types; unexpected tourism-related risks; vulnerability to demands of tourism industry; and the mismatch between the system of national projects and needs for the practice of tourism activities. Results of two case studies underscored these obstacles. The authors finally described the role played by actors outside the rural village and local government officers for improving future collaboration projects

THE FALLACY OF ORGANIC AND CONVENTIONAL FRUIT AND VEGETABLE PRICES IN THE METROPOLITAN REGION OF CAMPINAS, SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL

    Get PDF
There is a popular myth or fallacy based on the idea that organic fruits and vegetables are always more expensive than conventional products. To assess whether this statement is true, a qualitative and quantitative research was conducted between September and December 2017, involving four supermarkets and seven outdoor markets, located in Campinas, in the State of São Paulo, Brazil. This statement was confirmed for the research conducted in supermarkets, but not for outdoor markets, where some organic products are cheaper than conventional ones. In fact, supermarkets sell organic products at higher prices and, normally, only the upper middle class has access to the products, but the consumer will have the option to buy conventional products at lower prices. Conventional supermarket products serve a larger number of consumers, including those with lower incomes. Most outdoor market traders are farmers who sell their own harvested products. Thus, these producers set their own prices, which are more attractive to the consumer; however, prices may vary. Due to price differences between supermarkets and free markets, consumers in general, and especially low-income consumers, obtain affordable, healthy, fresh and seasonal products, especially in outdoor markets. It is concluded that the best option for the low-income consumer is to buy organic products in open-air markets, since in these locations’ prices are generally cheaper, the products are healthier and fresher. The consumer also has access to diverse "seasonal" products, which are even cheaper and fresher are offered throughout the year, thus allowing the consumer to have a healthy and diverse diet throughout the year.Â

This descriptive study was conducted to determine the coping strategies of farm laborers in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro towards farm mechanization. It was conducted at Barangay Central, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, one of the top rice producing barangays in the province. The 123 of the 215 farm laborers listed in the different Kabesilya or farmers labor group were selected using simple random sampling. The farm laborers were engaged in planting and harvesting of rice for at least three years in Central, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro. The researcher used an interview schedule in gathering data. The study used descriptive statistics such as mean, frequency, and percentage. Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation was also used. Result shows that the farm laborers were in their middle aged, literate and with medium household size. The farm laborers generally “agree†that farm mechanization had affected their employment, food security level, education of children, monthly income, and agricultural production operations. The farm laborers “moderately practiced†the different coping strategies to meet the undesired effect of farm mechanization. Further, the “highly practiced†coping strategies were minimizing food expenses and seasonal migration of some household members to find odd jobs. Moreover, years spent in formal education and household size has a significant relationship on the extent of which farm laborers experience the effect of farm mechanization. Years spent in formal education have significant relationship on the coping strategies employed by farm laborers on advent of farm mechanization in the area

ACCOUNTING INFORMATION DISCLOSURE: SINGLE VERSUS MULTIPLE BENCHMARK

    Get PDF
This study aims to analyze the level of estimation bias made by investors based on the form of disclosure of single and multiple benchmark accounting information. The research design uses an experimental laboratory (between-subject). Respondents in this study used 40 students who had attended capital market schools on the Indonesia Stock Exchange as a representation of novice investors. The results of hypothesis testing indicate that the disclosure of accounting information in the form of multiple benchmarks is better than the form of single benchmark information. This is indicated by the smaller error rate of estimation made by investors in predicting future earnings. Thus, the bias in decision making can be minimized by presenting more comprehensive accounting information using multiple benchmark forms
