Islam places great importance on moral, environmental and social dimension. Sustainable development is centric to the overlapping factors both Islamic finance and Socially Responsible Investment, which are the economy, the environment and social impact. In contrary, Empirical evidence concerning ESG practice of IFIs and Sharia compliant companies is still lacking. The investment portfolio should therefore be scrutinized on the criteria of justice, social welfare and sustainability. This paper aims to identify sustainability report of Sharia Stocks companies and propose i-ESG index for sharia stocks screening in Indonesia. A qualitative study is used to describe sustainability action doing by Sharia compliant companies listed on Indeks Saham Syariah Indonesia (ISSI) in October 2019. This study found that, almost all the companies shows their Good Corporate Governance, but only a few of company have their sustainability report. Therefore a novel parameter to screen the sharia stocks screening process is urgently needed. Â

Fishing Quota and International Obligation: Why Has Indonesia been Indicated as a Non-Compliant State

    Get PDF
Indonesia committed to conserving the tuna resources by participating in some RFMOs. From all regional organizations where Indonesia has been joined, the CCSBT is the unique one, due to it governs a single tuna species, which is called Southern Bluefin Tuna. This kind of tuna is essential for Indonesia because it is the world’s most expensive tuna and SBT migrates through Indonesian fisheries management zones and goes even further within the territorial waters, where the SBT spawning area is located. This natural characteristic distinguishes Indonesia from other Parties to CCSBT. Nevertheless, the Country has been dealing with its obligation to comply with national quota allocation. For some fishing season periods, the CCSBT indicated Indonesia as a non-compliant. By applying the qualitative approach, this study considers how Indonesia’s non-compliance has been addressed in fishing for shared fish stocks. The data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews and legal analysis of law and policy instruments. This method leads the elaboration to reveal domestic factors affecting non-compliance by Indonesia. This study argues, the fisheries legislation should consider the provision concerning fishing for resources under quota system, hence, it will provide sufficient legal base to take enforcement measures towards non-compliance with fishing quota.Â

Protection of Migrant Workers under the ICMW: Incompatibility with Malaysian Laws and Position in ASEAN

The International Convention on The Protection of The Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families (ICMW) is the only Human Rights Convention that distinguishes between normal and irregular migrants in great detail. An analysis of the situation in Malaysia, based on feedback from relevant stakeholders, shows that there are insurmountable obstacles to ratification in relation to the ambiguous policy status for migrant workers, which is based on ad hoc policies. Malaysian legislation appears to be straightforward in its approach to labour migration policies, as it defines and categorises migrants into two distinct ‘categories': registered migrant (regular migrant) and undocumented migrant (irregular migrant), regardless of ability level. This article demonstrates that, despite the barriers and incompatibilities with national laws, the Convention, which is primarily a human rights instrument aimed at protecting the fundamental rights of all migrants, could assist Malaysia in ensuring a holistic and sustainable migration management that takes into account the needs of a whole approach and support from all parties involved, including but not limited to the Malaysian government. Part I of the article will go through the history of the convention's adoption, followed by Part II on the state of Malaysia's migration laws and policies, Part III on the compatibility and incompatibility of Malaysian laws with the ICMW and the position in ASEAN, and Part IV on recommendations

A Comparative Study between Dynamic Programming and Artificial Atom Algorithm for Traveling Salesman Problem

    Get PDF
Dynamic Programming (DP) algorithm is a powerful technique of exact method that can produce optimal solutions. In this paper, the Dynamic Program is compared with Artificial Atom Algorithm (A3) which is a new heuristic - metaheuristic method. Both algorithms of DP and A3 have been tested on case study of 9 locations in the West Jakarta. Based on the case study of small size locations, the results show that the distance of DP and A3 method is the same, but the sequence is different

The concentration of development in urban areas, on the one hand, increases employment in the non-agricultural sector, but also has a negative impact that is less profitable. areas, on the one hand, increases employment in the non-agricultural sector, but also has a negative impact that is less profitable. In the coastal area of Makassar City, housing development, tourism and business, have changed coastal land use rapidly in the last two decades. Uncontrolled land use can threaten coastal areas and change the sustainability of coastal areas. This study discusses the development of predictions of land use change in 2034 using the Celular Automata Markov (CA-Markov) method. . The research location of the Tanjung Merdeka coastal area is near the city of Makassar with a research area of 433.14 hectares. The main data sources are downloaded on the Landsat Google Earth satellite imagery map for 2004-2019. By using ArcMap 10.3 and Idris Selva 17.0 the predictive analysis of land change can work well. The results of this study during the period 2004-2019 that land use changed significantly in the Tanjung Bunga area, Tanjung Merdeka Village. Previously built land was only 87.17 Ha (20.13%), which has doubled to 191.26 Ha (44.16%) in 2019. The prediction of land use for 2034 shows that the largest change in constructed land is 262.39 Ha. (60.58%); The results of the research on vacant land, agriculture, ponds, water bodies and the sea are reduced. To compare the land use between the 2015-2034 RTRW spatial pattern map and the CA-Markov land use prediction map, it was done by comparing the land use of the two  Â

Tarra area is one of the Awak Mas gold prospect in Sulawesi, Indonesia. Geographically and geologically, this area is located in the central part of West Sulawesi, and occupies the southern part of the Latimojong Complex.  Host rock of gold mineralization in this area, known is the Meta-Sedimentary rock, which is a member of the Latimodjong Formation. The research carried out includes geological surveys by taking rock outcrop samples, as  well as taking samples from the drilling cores in the Company's Coreset. A total of 28 rock samples were petrographic analysis,19 samples were carried out by mineragraphic analysis, and 4 samples were analyzed for  fluid inclusion. The results of the study show that in the Tarra area there are two types of alteration, namely (1)  the phillic type alteration which is characterized by the presence of the quartz-sericite-opaque minerals assemblage, and (2) the propylitic type which is characterized by the presence of quartz-chlorite-epidote. Meanwhile, the results of the mineralization analysis show that there is sulfide mineralization, which consists of pyrite, chalcopyrite, and covellite, and the oxide minerals consist of hematite, and goethite. This study, has known that ore mineralization accompanies the formation of quartz veins. The results of the analysis of fluid  inclusions trapped in the quartz vein show that there are two fluid phases, namely double phase (liquid-rich), L +  V where L > 50% as a primary inclusion and mono-phase where L = 100% with a quartz vein temperature  around 260°C – 320°C, low salinity, minimum forming depth of 1050 meters under the paleo-surface. Based on the homogenization temperature (Th) of the fluid inclusion above, it should be interpreted that sulfide ore deposits in the Tarra Area are included in the type of Mesothermal deposits
